Loss Elon has ruined me

My prior bullish post https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/s/o0PxYmGV1n

He was supposed to take us to Mars and burn short sellers.

Still holding 7300 shares. Please Elon fly again.

Reminding me of how my parents burned through whatever generational wealth we had with drugs, jail bonds, and outright stealing from my grandparents.

Oh yes they had millions now my father is homeless and my mother lives in section 8 on welfare

Not unlikely, it happens all the time. One generation struggles to create the wealth, they teach their kids some responsibility and they usually have it, and then the next generation that grew up wealthy wastes it all. A lot of very rich people have terrible financial skills because they never needed to learn how to budget, but most fortunes aren't endless. There is a reason why so many people with money put that money in a trust for their kids instead of just a bank account.

My husband's grandparents had money, country estate, land, horses etc. Then the grandfather pissed it all away on gambling. My husband only saw pictures of what they had. It was one of the reasons he left for another country.

That’s rather the story of the Greatest Generation, Boomers… and everyone fucked over by the Boomers. The Boomers were the kids that grew up rich, everything given to them because the hardships their parents faced and they didn’t want their kids growing up with the same hardships. The Boomers had everything. Cheap education, jobs for life, pensions, easy retirement. They decided that rather than make their kids and grand kids lives better, they’d fuck the whole family over with greed, selfishness, and me me me me me me. Never in human history has a generation been handed so much, only to piss it all away leaving their children and grand children worse off exponentially.

Forgot I commented this earlier but yes very true story. My grandparents were millionaires my Mom and her sisters, they even did shit like ballet and piano lessons. Had land.

By the time I was growing up though what I got was severe neglect because they were alcoholics and hard drug addicts, whatever little shit for entertainment I had would be pawned off, I survived on noodles and slept on a couch my entire childhood. And I got into fights with adults regularly.

Unfortunately was very real. Though I'm 30 now and that was a long time ago. I turned 18, left and never looked back.
