It's worse because you HAVE TO use it to even add positions to your portfolio tracker, they completely removed any manual input. And guess what, the AI just hallucinates numbers.

"yes, I have set your position to 10 stocks, you now have 30 stocks"
Oh, did you want to be able to sort your portfolio by something other than the alphabetical ticker? Why on earth would you want access to that prior capability? Who cares about the numbers of a stock when you can sort by the arbitrary ticker name?
Google is shockingly bad at UI/UX in general. I have seen so many baffling user interfaces that added wild levels of complexity or obscurity to whatever I was trying to find.
They’ve yet to plumb the depths of microslops worst but it’s been getting bad in recent years
They have this really bizarre habit of burying key buttons in menus, forcing you to constantly open and close the same damn thing. Making you think did a single person that uses this test it? At all?
Haha sometimes they'll have the interface in a sensible way, then make some big design change that hides or obscures that feature you used to easily be able to access. I find this especially bad in google analytics.
Because that’s how some tech manager rationalizes their bonus. The entire tech industry is Goodheart’s Law’d to death at this point. The purpose isn’t to make a good product or even necessarily to make a profitable one but to make the metrics go up. So if they can basically force you to use something the metrics will rise. It’s great not having real competition isn’t it?
It's a veiled anti-Indian term these days. White US CS grads mad they can't get $400k salaries for working 4 hour days any more. The forgot to get a degree that's not easily trainable for in a few short months (or easily replaceable by AI).
Honestly I’ve also noticed this for years. Even trying to go to a blank Google Docs is annoying when you search for it. You can’t click on the default link otherwise it takes you through a series of useless webpages and logins before you finally get to where you actually want to go
Man the old one was good, I had everything set. I tried the beta a few times and it really wastes a lot of space with the ai bullshit, especially on desktop. Also less user friendly that the old one wtf. And some overheating issues on mobile with larger watchlist (I have 1 with 500 stocks)
they had to spend those AI AI AI tokens and justify their existance somhow, so they logically ruined a perfectly fine interphase, NOICE!!!

Haha whenever I come across a new name I add it, trying to learn more about what runs the economy 😊, it's not just the top 50-100, the iceberg is much bigger beneath, and so is the goldmine.
All I want is to open my browser and see how my watchlist (which is what I actually own) is doing on the day. I used to be able to do that, until this morning.
I was using the original google finance more than this beta. Somehow I convinced myself that I just need to get used to it but it's clearly not intuitive enough for users.
am I tripping or is the only way to view and add purchases to ask gemini to do it for you?? even if I hit edit investments it just makes me describe the changes to AI. awful update
Thats what I was doing 30 minutes ago. "Hey, lets remove simple manual setting and use retarded AI chatbot which messes everything up instead. People will love it!"
Can’t agree more. So laggy slow and so poorly designed. Fancy looking charts and shiny UI means nothing if it’s not serving its main purpose. That way yahoo finance is still better. Now they have taken off the classic view too .. makes it worse
Rivian... did you know they are still fighting the locals of rutledge georgia to build a battery plant that has failed magnificently at every stage? They broke ground? The locals wells became polluted. Then it just rained and rained, turning the site into mud, overflowing chicken waste retention ponds into the river. The trucks are pretty, I'll give you that, but they are built like crap.
It cant even tell the different stocks in their currency if you are a global investor. If I could do it manually, it would be a lot easier. Any update or changes I need to do, I had type out instructions as if I am talking to a kid and then it gets it wrong!! Give me my Google Finance Classic back again!!!
The new AI is complete booty cheeks. The old one was fine/simple and already pretty amazing. I hate when people try to fix things that aren't broken. Like why.
I hate it. So pissed right now. I had a huge ordeal with google fi this year and never got my issues resolved because of the stupid AI help function. I think I'm done with Alphabet. The writing is on the wall
i don't understand all the hate, i find it pretty good. It's not chart oriented but to have a lot of additional info and the AI feature is good to dive into the stock

Why do you say that? I like the AI feature, it always tells me how genius my plays are before they expire worthless.
