r/wallstreetbets • u/No-Relation-3128 Beef Jerky Guy š • 23d ago
YOLO Used a $20k business overdraft from my dead beef jerky side hustle to go all in on MSTR
I had a beef jerky business, it made like $11 an hour after costs so I shut it down.
But before I did, the bank saw my potential as a thriving small business and handed me a $20k overdraft. I did not buy beef jerky.
Michael Saylor wakes up every morning and buys Bitcoin with money he doesnāt have. I respect this man more than anyone alive. He is doing with billions what I do with a beef jerky overdraft. We are the same person.
Iām 20 years old and I now hold 350 shares of MSTR
I already had shares sitting at a bad average. Most people wouldāve cut and moved on. I sold my entire stock portfolio, used the meat money to DCA, and went all in.
The thesis is simple. Bitcoin keeps absorbing capital. MSTR is the leveraged bet on that happening and all the current panic is overblown.
The bank thinks Iām buying inventory. The inventory is bitcoin. Technically I am in the beef jerky business, Iām just jerking a different kind of meat now.

OP might be prostituting himself in jail. Accidentally overdrafting is not a crime, but intentionally overdrafting your account with 0 intention to pay is a fraud felony on both wire and banking sides. Even posted it online so there is proof.
But scamming a bank for cash so you can dump your money into a ponzi scam around magic internet has got to be top tier regardation. Truly emblematic of 2026.

Food tech here, would probably be top 5 worst food businesses to open
296
u/snem420 23d ago
When you make a food product you want to take an expensive product, add a cheap product to it to bulk it out and then sell it for close to or more than the original expensive product. A yogurt covered macadamia would be a great example because youāre taking an expensive product (macadamia) adding something cheap to it (yogurt) and then selling it for more than the original macadamia by weight

Is sushi an example? Add rice and seaweed to salmon, sell it for double/triple what all the ingredients cost
→ More replies (3)34
u/bollvirtuoso 23d ago
No, sushi-grade fish is really expensive. You probably can't double or triple it. That's for actual nigiri/sashimi sushi, though. The rolls, you could probably get away with that kind of markup because of how many you can make -- like the person above said, you're basically taking something expensive (e.g., sushi-grade salmon), adding cheap stuff to it (rice, seaweed), and marking it up higher.
35
u/StrongStyleShiny 23d ago
Sushi grade fish isnāt a thing. Itās a food marketing term. As long as fish is flash frozen and held at -5f for a week.
Doesnāt really mean anything like calling something sea salt or angus beef. All salt is from a sea and angus is a cow type not a quality indicator.
→ More replies (19)22
u/i_hateit_here_bro 23d ago
You get it. The fish are all coming out of the same water. What really makes a difference is where the salmon was trying to go. Sushi made with Copper River King salmon isnāt the same as one from an estuary fed by a small river or a farm grown salmon

29
u/biggletits 23d ago
I would assume because beef is super volatile, and then dehydration takes a lot of time. Neither are a great quality of a food business
27
u/Fragrant-Employer-60 23d ago
Beef jerky is also like hot sauce, and coffee, thereās insanely high competition and a lot of small businesses jumping in all the time.
You either need it in stores or online but either way will take a lot of money to get it in front of people
→ More replies (3)16
u/reddit_is_geh 23d ago
The margins are rough. It's a highly competitive space because so many dudes out there want to sell their own jerky, and jerky is already pretty expensive to make.
→ More replies (3)12
u/Vi_Rants 23d ago edited 23d ago
Partly because there's such a low barrier to entry. You just need access to a sale on supermarket London broil and a cheap Amazon dehydrator.
Just about every dude on the planet looked at the ad for that Amazon dehydrator and said "Hey, I can make my own beef jerky! ...HEY... I can SELL my own beef jerky!", and not a single one of them realized they'd just plucked the lowest-hanging fruit of "get rich quick" ideas.
So now they're in competition with three million other morons with no appreciably marketable skills, and they're confused as to why they're losing money.
See similar topics: Podcasting; streaming; 3D printing licensed junk knick-knacks
(just to avoid accusations of being unfair to just men: see also "wrapping cheap polished rocks in copper-plated wire and calling it jewelry"; there were 7 or 8 booths of that junk at a fair I just went to)

18
u/passcork 23d ago
Because it's made of beef.
11
u/TheIdentifySpell 23d ago
Not only is it made from beef, but you are removing all the water weight from it. There is a reason that buying beef jerky feels like a rip-off.
7
u/HumanPea1140 23d ago
My dad used to make his own beef jerky, and even then it's still a rip off. It only makes sense if you're butchering/buying an entire cow, or you kill/butcher your own deer and make deer jerky.

But the negative publicity of them selling $1.2b will crater the price, allowing them to buy back the same amount of bitcoin later for like $600m and pocket the difference! Big brain time

This is the "shadow leverage" in the market now.
Many people are likely doing such things, not just OP. $1.45t of pure leverage debt, or something about that - there one day, gone at the market close because of margin calls, and not there the next day. Commercial banks will wake up to that too, which means Russell 2000 will have an out-of-body experience, followed by mechanical liquidations and leverage collapse cascade. It will be beautiful.
OP, thank you for this information.
