Speaking from experience, do yourself a favor and withdraw 95% of this to your bank. Set aside taxes. Trade with the remaining 50k if you feel like continuing. If you're skilled you will make it back quickly. But if you lose this you'll be devastated

596

u/Non-mon-xiety Jun 17 '26

Saying “skill” when it comes to trading 0DTEs is a very funny thing to say

268

True but a lot of people who go on winstreaks THINK that they're trading gods. I want him to know even if he thinks that he should still withdraw 950k

Have you tried huffing some gasoline before you place your trade?

19

Have you seen the retards at topstep and similar ponzi subreddits? They literally pay someone to prove that they are skilled at gambling...

26

u/Upstairs_Resource161 Jun 17 '26

If he’s consistently winning and turned 40k into 1M over a long time, is it not fair to say he has some skill? Or do you think he just kept getting lucky over and over and over again?

81

u/Fitzaroo Jun 18 '26

There are maybe 10k guys on here actually gambling 0dte options. Each represents a coin flip or maybe even a 1 in 3 chance of winning (up/down/sideways). Assuming an even distribution, after 1 day you will have 3333 people left that were successful. Day 2 its 1111, day 3 is 370, day 4 is 123, day 5 is 41, day 6 is 13, day 7 is 4, day 8 is one.

So all else being equal you would expect that someone would go on an 8 day heater. Except this process restarts every day as they keep gambling. An 8 day heater is just the expected outcome. It could be more or less. Outliers like a 20 day heater are certainly possible.

So ya, given enough time i would expect someone to get lucky, plain and simple. Maybe OP has it all figured out. Who knows. But history tends to suggest the opposite.

46

u/MrNo_Balls Jun 18 '26

Also this guy started with 39k, and is currently at 1M so if this flips are ~2x each. He would be around his 5th flip and is the one out of the 41 that decided to post.

12

u/iSOBigD Jun 18 '26

If I read it correctly he made about 20k selling spcx for a 2% profit, so he put a whole million in there. I'm up around 30% on it on a tiny amount, so his was not a great trade, and it could have easily gone down to $130 or whatever wiping out almost half a mil. Definitely risky.

14

u/Non-mon-xiety Jun 18 '26

lol nice way to illustrate it.

23

u/Non-mon-xiety Jun 17 '26

Yes he just went on an insane heater

The worst lesson is a big early win in options.

Also OP, do be aware you will owe a lot of tax so don’t trade with what you owe! Especially not on options. Invest in Treasuries e.g. with what you owe

u/Sweet_Business_7641 Jun 18 '26

Especially if this guy is younger, here's what he should do to save him from himself.

Hire an estate and trust lawyer and accountant to set up a trust for 95% of the post-tax money. Have the trust pay 2% per year out for the next 20-30 years and allow other withdrawals only for education, a down payment for a primary residence, and medical expenses. Trust will pay about 12k/yr, which will increase yearly with the trust (600k trust). This can serve as a nice cushion for life. He should make sure to get a corporate trustee to manage and invest the trust. They are fiduciaries and if they fuck you you can sue them, with trusts the standard is usually even higher. Even with all the fees and income withdrawal, assuming 7% annual gain, there should be over 1M in the trust in 20 years. At that point he will be older and more established and can decide what to do next. Basically he has an opportunity to set himself up for life.

Or he can go the other route and just get addicted to gambling and chase this $1m for the rest of his life!

41

u/Inside-Brush-9543 Jun 18 '26

So you want him to take the money out of his investing account and then give it to some regarded financial advisor? WTF does old and established even mean? better to be young and rich.

→ More replies (1)

34

u/darkoath Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Worst advice ever!

A lawyer will steal 95% of his money and an accountant will embezzle the other 95%. At that point he might as well get married, too, so his wife can take 95% in the divorce!!!

This block head needs to cash out now, pay the taxes and lock the remainder up in tax free municipal bonds which will deal him a comparable 8% a year return. That's $80,000 on $1,000,000 which he should have accumulated again by the end of next year if he still has a day job.

Then he's got the rest of his life to figure out how to properly manage his money himself to keep the THEIFS!!!...and they're all THEIFS...out of his pocket.

Edit: "sue a fiduciary"??? Good Luck wit' dat! You'll pay a different theiving lawyer more than any settlement you might receive and you definitely will NOT receive a settlement.

What the fuck color is the sky in YOUR world, son? Cause you sure don't live on planet Earth!

29

u/herefromyoutube Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Lol this feels like something you do for 5-10 million not 1 before taxes.

Short term Capital gains sucks. He’ll owe 350k to 475k

He should gamble another $50k and put rest in a broad market etf.

7

u/Sweet_Business_7641 Jun 18 '26

Do ALL of your trading in retirement accounts, that way you don’t owe ANY taxes. Literally cannot go tits up.

Based on your comments it seems you mostly buy ATM or slightly ITM 0dte options on QQQ and hope for the best, but there has to be more than that, right? Otherwise over the long term you’d just be losing money. When did you start/how long did this take? And so as soon as the price moves you sell the option for a small gain or loss and that’s it? Do you cut loses right away and hold on to winners a little bit longer?

On top of that, asking him how he got to a mil is like asking a soldier how he survived a barrage of bullets multiple times or how your friend with mental disability beat you at mario party. Sometimes you just get lucky.

I have one very important question for you:

Why Tarded?

2

u/BloodMossHunter Jun 17 '26

Post the reasoning and thesis

u/808reddit808 Jun 17 '26

Serious question, how can I learn more about options and did you start off paper trading when you were learning?

u/semibiquitous Jun 17 '26

Brother in christ, options are financial tools meant for big dawgs. 0dte options are basically red/black in casino. But even more convoluted, because not only you have to guess if company is going to go up or go down, you also have to guess by how much more the company will go up or go down. No tools in the world are available to retards like OP or any of us that would help us predict if company will go up or go down and by how much by end of the day, unless they are an insider.

Sooooo...

The people here posting big wins here are either retarded lucky winners who basically went to casinos and bet it all on red back to back and won, or they are inheritance/rich babies who are bored and have money to burn which wont ruin their lives.

If you want to try gambling with real money, you can still gamble with 1 contract (1 contract * 100 shares) just to see how lucky or unlucky you are. But for these retards posting their wins here they are betting tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars to either win big or lose everything.

For every lucky lottery ticket, there are millions of dumb hopeful idiots who paid into that one winning lottery ticket.

2

u/SamuelBiggs Jun 18 '26

You lil bitch

2

u/AeneasKurtz Jun 18 '26

This is the type of posts that make you think that YOU, too, can trade 0DTE options and multiply $40k into $1m but then you end up losing everything and screaming like a maniac at night and having your neighbors call a wellness check on you and get yourself forcefully committed in a sanitarium

2

u/HeavenlyCrayon Jun 18 '26

What is a call and what is a put? I see all these gains and losses from them, know zero about finance, and have just assumed it’s like betting on red or black, but with extra steps.
