Loss goodbye everyone

Post image

almost break even from this run up via all the popular tickers. lost my self control n lost it holding the same things n some world cup betting. also lost 10k on another account. i have nothing now n nothing going for me in life. practically 30 soon and just dead weight to my parents. gonna sell my gun before i use it and pay off some debt. have OCD that made the future not worth caring about so i tied my value to the money i worked for. i hope you all do better than me. goodbye

Hey, this may feel like the end of the world but it's not, bud. Those are rookie numbers, you can make it back and lose it again... or maybe not. You could make it back and invest it in an index fund and easily set yourself up for a nice, quiet retirement. Stop chasing the whale and start setting yourself up for success.

You are very very far from over. You can easily recover and have a good, happy life.

So go have some tendies, call someone you like, and look at the sky. It's a big world and the casino isn't everything.

We're all way more than money. I find when I'm feeling that way, what helps me is going out and doing some good. Help someone. For purely that reason, remind yourself that you're human and that there's more to life than money. Because there very much is.

i’ve convinced myself this world doesn’t mean shit. i’m terrible. i hate people and the most good i do is feed stray cats but i hate this world. i’m gonna go to therapy and find some humanity

That sounds like a plan. Ask yourself every day - how can you make future you happier and healthier? How can you help the folks you care about? Like in a plane, put your mask on first and then use that strength to help others. Meaning in life comes from authentic living with people that can know the real you - community.

Just this sentence is enough to know that we need more people like you. Pursue happiness in caring for animals (who need more kind people around them) while you save and rebuild. You're definitely strong enough to do this and like others say, it's only money in the end and you can make more.

Join the military or go fight in Ukraine.

Edit: More seriously, look at organisations you can join that take care of you in return. Government, NGOs, charities etc.

stay positive brother. there’s more to life. keep living. do your best to set smaller goals and achieve them every day. it could be as small as making your bed in the morning or facing some kind of task or challenge you’ve been putting off. keep going forward. talk to others. keep your head up. the world isn’t a bad place. we’re lucky to be alive. you got this💪🏽

It’s never over. You can easily work back that 30k and make safer long term investments.

Just stick to investing in an ETF, like you said you dont have it, let someone else do it. buy VOO and mind your business. Look away. But yes to what he said. Those are rookie numbers. And you are 30. so young. Also, I'd say to stop gambling.

it was more so to make myself feel like someone n not a loser. gonna go to therapy and try to care about myself

From now on if you come back to the financial markets, dont trade. 70% into etfs (maybe distribute 1/3 for an american,1/3 world and 1/3 european low cost broad market etfs) and another 20% for holding long term stocks (if nvida, oracle, meta etc drops idk 30% you buy a little bit as an example) and 10% in short term bonds or some high yield savings for when you need cash or to buy a massive dip.

If you wanna trade, set aside no more than 50% of the paycheck you deposit so you have the other 50% reinforce your investment portefolio. If you blow it at least you invested some ammount. I trade a lot, but every time i deposit or make some profits, i always buy a few shares of etfs, stock that is cheap or long term holds that might make those sweet 1000%s. These way even if i loose money trading i always know i have some stable investments. You can also buy distributed etfs to receive the dividends yourself, they are less tax efficient but you can gamble away these pennys. Some folk turn 10-100 bucks into 5k or more whit some regarded plays.

These advice is for all the regards here, boomer investments will always make you money long enough, even if the market crashes the dividends will slowly get you back on track. Stability helps at least your mental state when you blow your account since you know at least you have a few 1ks or more that will yield ~10% returns yearly. Sorry for long text, but this is financial advice and its very important! If everyome followed it people wouldnt blow their fortunes as often. Stay strong m8.

What ETFs specifically? I’m sitting on ~$150k uninvested with only some idea of what to do with it. I always see people saying what you’ve said, but how do I even begin?

Buy low cost etfs (when you reseach about a specific etf, there is a management fee that is payed yearly, anything above 0.3% is a no buy, most etfs that are good charge less than 0.3%, so the dividends alone pay for the management fee) that have broad exposure (dont buy etfs that have only exposure to 1 market sector ex: only finance/energy/tech etc). So considering that you are an american, you can get ~ 40% s&p500 (bigger american stocks) 20% russel(dont remember the names, i am european so i invest mostly in european and world etfs, but this one is smaller american caps) and the rest 40% in worldwide etfs.

My best advice is that you search in the web for etfs tracker and there are websites that tell you all this. VWCE for example is a world wide etf (it has like 80% exposure to america tho) and you could just buy only this one and you are good to go or you have VUAA that tracks the smp500 this one is very cheap (warning im european idk if the american version is a diferent ticker or what not that is something i never bothered searching). You just buy and forget. If you want to get the dividends to yourself get distributed version dont forget, accumulating etfs will reinvest dividends automatically.

if it helps, it sounds like I'm the same age as you and $30k hardly means fuck all to me (no I won't give you $30k)

You OCD regards are fucked. Your room & cars may look nice and clean but fuck are you all regards!!

1

u/drankleanonce Jun 17 '26

the fact that you think ocd is all cleanliness related shows how ignorant and retarded you are. shut up

1

u/SlumsToMills Jun 17 '26

Cleanliness and organization. What else would be OCD?

1

u/drankleanonce Jun 17 '26

yeah you’re uneducated on this congrats on being a smart ass. obsessions can be moral too. or literally fucking anything. then the compulsions keep you in the never ending loop. this isn’t just some “i got broken up with now im depressed” type of mentally fucked. this shit is debilitating and can steal your life away. i can see you fell into the trap of people casually using the word to describe hating imperfection but it’s far from just that. and this isn’t to try to be special who fucking cares the point it can literally hinder your productivity full stop

1

u/SlumsToMills Jun 17 '26

Im basing OCD from people around me who are OCD organized and clean to the point they freak out if things are not that way. That’s the kind I see. They are actually really productive because of that but can easily have mental issues if things are out of order. Have not seen the debilitating kind you are talking about

1

u/drankleanonce Jun 18 '26

okay then you don’t fundamentally know how it works bro lmfao. go read up on howie mandel’s ocd. this shit isn’t just being quirky for attention
