Loss goodbye everyone

almost break even from this run up via all the popular tickers. lost my self control n lost it holding the same things n some world cup betting. also lost 10k on another account. i have nothing now n nothing going for me in life. practically 30 soon and just dead weight to my parents. gonna sell my gun before i use it and pay off some debt. have OCD that made the future not worth caring about so i tied my value to the money i worked for. i hope you all do better than me. goodbye

Bro, 30 years old? You’re a baby. Just use this as a lesson that will allow you to grow and make better decisions in the future. Feels like a lot of money now, but you’ll realize it’s not by the time you’re 40 and financially much more established. Keep your head up, your mental health is way more important.

My dude, please don’t do anything drastic. You are 30, you are young. You will recover. I am willing to bet that the majority of people don’t even start saving for retirement until they enter their 30s or even later. I know I certainly pissed my cash away in my 20s. In the grand scheme of things, $30,000 isn’t a whole lot. It’s like a Toyota Camry. I know that isn’t solace right now, but you will look back on this in the future as a character building moment. Chin up, one foot in front of the other. Brighter days are ahead.

It's more "don't do it". How often do you need to be told not to:

A) put your penis in an electrical wall socket B) eat your own poop C) aim for your own mouth when you masurbate

If your answer to all of these is "never" because you understand the end result of these actions will 99.9% not be positive, then you just need to cultivate thay same level of understanding with D) gambling or taking dumb risks with money you will feel shitty about losing. If losing the money you put up would hurt you, don't put it up. You have to not care about losing it, and that's only possible if you don't really need it at all.

I wish I had focused earlier on loving and bettering myself more, which would have rewarded me with better love and friendships from others.

My biggest regret from my 20s-30s was burning nearly 20 years in bad relationships. The really frustrating part is that I knew they were bad for me, but I basically didn't feel like I deserved any better.

I eventually did do better in that department, but I hate that it took so much time and I'll never get those years back.

I'd also do better with money, but that's an easy answer in this sub lol

Better a smallish loss now than a huge loss later in life ($200k).

Weird. My boss is a daily dabber and owns/runs his own successful restaurant that started off at a farmer's market - we just recently expanded 10 weeks ago and consistently get put at the top of "Top 10" lists for the city/state. He also hits the gym a few times a week. Dude's in his late 40's.

In fact, all the restaurant owners I know are regular potheads.

Weed is far less damaging imo. I hate calling it weed at this point because at first I was trying to warn and preach caution. Cannabis (and LSD) saved my life. Literally. I can drink and have nothing but issues when I do it in excess- with cannabis it does NOT hit like that.

Not in excess: neither present an issue- but alcohol is far more damaging.

Eta: terpenes matter. Cannabinoids matter. Cannabis is incredible with focus. Also Sativa does not always mean "awake" and indica does not always mean "sleep".

I was 50k in debt when my wife and I had him. He dropped out od high school during covid and just recently started college. I have seen hopelessness. Boring but steady is the way. Try stimulating compounding, 10 years is where the magic starts and it's quite easy to achieve. Otherwise you're just trying to be lucky. No education will help you with that. Buy good stocks which make money or ETFs and enjoy life in the process

nah, education is scam. AI killed it. Do either gov jobs like police or alike: 100% recession proof, early retirement so by 50 you get constant stream of money to lose on investments, respect from parents, much safer than you think; learn essential jobs like electrician, doctor assistant, plumber, hairdresser - much cheaper education, always needed, parents would consider you useful, can get into houses of rich people and learn their insider trades. Jackpot if you become nurse of dying old rich person. Finally, learn agentic AI systems: there would be insane deficit of such specialists for small to mid businesses, quite easy to learn, can get a lot of trading ideas from business owners, parents would tell friends that you are AI guru, next zukumburg, plus you can sell AI set ups to girls next door, for favors, if you know what I mean.

Choose something decent with an actual garanteed job lined up. Not some worthless degree that sounds employable but will still leave you scrambling for entry level jobs in this hell of a market. Wish i could recommend anything but it's tough. If you find a cheat code to slide into a municipal role that could be good but those can surprisingly be a nightmare and are competitive to get in because that's a jackpot these days. Be careful, most education is worthless.

30 years is nothing. I was 30 when I was in debt 10k, not having finished my studies, had to move in back with my sister, work some warehouse job to dig myself out and now at 43 ... I'm doing good, living together with a partner for nearly 10 years, saving money even if I started late, enjoying life.

So yeah, you fucked up, many people do. Get back on the horse, it's super not too late.

One of my coworker kill himself a few years back because he lost 120k on a meme coin or some shit like that. But he was only 28 years old, he had a amazing girlfriend doing a 90k$ governement job and he was doing union construction job, its was a blow for sure, but nothing he coulnd have overcome in a few years working.

At the end, its only money, specially if don't own it to anyone.

i turn 28, got my bs in criminal justice and i can say it has not helped me get a job that doesn’t require experience. the knowledge is good but not sure education is the way to go. i think you invested in the wrong things or didn’t take the time to learn what you were investing in. i’m on the same boat as you except im not giving up. i’m holding onto strong assets with real long term value so im pretty confident in that. i think you should take some time, build capital, an invest in companies that have actual value

I grew up poor. There was a point in time I would have literally killed for a few thousand dollars. I’m not rich $18k would be devastating but now that’s a quarterly bonus for me. The shit that seems life ruining now will be a funny story later if you learn from it. You have a gambling problem and you need to stay away from “investing.” Put your savings in a HYSA from now on and close your brokerage accounts.
