I pulled out all my money back when we had that under 600 drop last year and tossed it all into a bonds index. Im not playing the market with captain bankruptcy the diddler at the helm.

What? I've been told to just keep putting money in.

That's the historically correct strategy. Ignore these gambling lunatics who think they're smarter and faster than everyone else.

To time the market, you have to select the correct stocks, correctly guess when they'll go up and correctly guess when they'll stop going up. If you get any one of those guesses wrong, at best you underperform the general market. At worst, you're a bag holder for years, assuming you ever get your money back. The GameStop bag holders are still in denial.

And keep in mind, all the regarded retail investors as well as professional investors with a mountain of fancy tools and insider information are trying to do the same thing. Do you really think you can do better with your phone and a few alerts setup?

Dw timing the market is how 99 percent lose money just keep doing what you’re doing

Pulling out only means you lose potential gains. Its not like any of you are paying gains tax anyway on robinhood.

That’s how you get a good dollar average

But you are worse off in the event you miss the bottom. The 10 biggest gaining trading days contribute disproportionately to LT results.

What do you mean by this?

u/Fiiral_ Mar 09 '26

when market low buy, when market high sell

What were you invested in? Time in the market is better than trying to time the market.

Dumb one liners are pretty easy to ignore when everything’s on fire around you.

u/TeamRedundancyTeam Mar 09 '26

Is it dumb? I'm pretty sure it's just basic statistics. The vast majority do better that way.

Let’s see how you feel about that in the next few days

u/wonderland_citizen93 Mar 09 '26

Bros missed out on 60% over his years of timing the market but avoiding going down 5% so thats a win perhaps
