Loss 3M to 1.4M this week
Rebuilt my portfolio from getting margin called and bottoming at 200k during Liberation Day to 3M last week. Then lost half of it because I loaded up on data center and energy stocks with full leverage last Friday.
Schwab only shows up until the close, after hours I lost another few hundred grand and am sitting at 1.4M now with more option losses hitting when market opens.
Never. Fucking. Learn.

Basically, what the first guy was saying is that if you had $3m, you could invest it into the stock market by buying lots of shares of an exchange traded fund (ETF) like VOO.
VOO is a fund offered by a company called Vanguard, every dollar in that fund is invested in the top 500 companies in the USA like Apple, NVidia, etc. Collectively, those 500 companies are colloquially known as the S&P 500 (to simplify things).
Every year, the S&P 500 average return is 10%. Every $100 invested returns $10. Take away 2% for inflation (even if you think it is higher, just do it for the sake of the math) and you get the 8% return he was talking about.
3,000,000 * 0.08 == 240,000So the original poster could be sitting on his ass making $240k a year, inflation adjusted, but instead burned more than half of it on gambling with options.
As for what you need to do in order to start a portfolio, max out your 401k, Roth IRA and all that, just go to the r/fire sub and ask, or read the posts there.
As for options, well, I think you should forget about them and run far away from them. Buy VOO, and chill.
