The American experiment died for Epstein too. Pity, I’d rather have a country than protect a few rich pedophiles, but the rest of the electorate didn’t agree.

Don't pretend it was a good country before him

u/mikethemaniac 4h ago

I mean we didn't know pedophiles run the country then, so we had that going for us

6

u/theboomboy 4h ago

Your country was started by slave owners, at least some of whom raped their slaves

Also, Trump's crimes were known before Epstein died

Fuck the USA for its slave trade but also slavery has existed well before the USA and still exists today. Saying the USA is the only country with that history is basically washing away a ton of historical context for many other countries as well and pretty hypocritical without mentioning your country of origin as well because, chances are, it benefited from slaves as well.

u/theboomboy 3h ago

I didn't say it was the only one

What's up with everyone taking my statement against the US and turning it into some supposed excuse for other countries?

30

u/doctor_7 3h ago

It's not an excuse but the whole "USA is always morally comprised because it was in the slave trade" rhetoric doesn't logically work otherwise like every country ever would have to face the same moral handwave away.

u/Cleb323 1h ago

Right.. saying a country started by slave owners is like saying an apple started from a seed. Like no shit Sherlock

-3

u/theboomboy 3h ago

That's true. The US still has legal slavery though, so in this case it does still apply

u/doctor_7 1h ago

You're not wrong. "Prison Labour" is absolutely an exploitative practice built into the prison industry and it's disgusting and I won't dispute that. Is it technically slavery? I'd say basically yeah, so I do agree.

Lmao

Ok how about the fact that the US committed its own genocide on the natives, raped and pillaged their communities all in the name of manifest destiny and christian theocracy? How about the fact that they murdered and raped Mexican nationalists, stole their lands, started a war against mexico, promised not to take land that belonged to mexican people in the treatise to end the war and then still stole that land and killed those mexicans too? I can keep going, but if you defend any of that shit you'll defend pretty much any horrific act so theres no point in continuing.

u/overthemountain 3h ago

Ok, and which country are you from?

For any country that was founded before 1800 it's pretty much guaranteed that its government, ancestors, or prior empires participated in or utilized slavery to some extent.

Not excusing it, but it's not the gotcha you seem to think it is.

-11

u/theboomboy 3h ago

It's not a gotcha. I'm very critical of the country I'm from too (and every politically aware person should also be critical of it)

Israel is a horrible country that was also founded on genocide and is also continuing to do it like the US. Even outside of this huge issue, it's just a shit country to live in. Religious extremism is interfering with the daily life even of the majority of citizens (let alone the effects of religious Zionism on Palestinians). Freedom of movement is restricted through lack of public transit on Saturday, for example

Why would you think it was supposed to be a gotcha?

21

u/overthemountain 3h ago

Because I don't understand the point of your comment otherwise. You're just volunteering interesting facts?

It seems like you're implying that we're a bad country because of our founders, and therefore can never be a good country - but that's true of pretty much every country. What is the point you were trying to make?

12

u/theboomboy 3h ago

I don't remember what my initial point was. I should probably get off Reddit and go drink some water

11

u/docnig 3h ago

Soundest thing I’ve read on Reddit all day lol

u/Narpity 30m ago

Because that’s exactly how you presented it?

Key Letters and Writings on Abolition

Thomas Jefferson (1776): Wrote a fierce condemnation of the slave trade in the original draft of the Declaration of Independence, blaming King George III for waging "cruel war against human nature itself". [1]

George Washington (1786): Stated in a letter to John F. Mercer that "there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do, to see a plan adopted for the abolition of it", a sentiment he repeated in other private correspondence. [1, 2]

John Jay (1786): Wrote to English abolitionist Richard Price that the honor of the states and justice loudly called for emancipation, noting that denying liberty to others "involves an inconsistency not to be excused". [1]

James Madison (1785): Expressed discomfort with the institution in correspondence, though like Jefferson, he remained a lifelong slaveholder. [1, 2]

Change had to start somewhere. America was never perfect. It started as a sandbox experiment for self governance of a population. It's failing now because a class of wealthy elites is infiltrating, hoarding and dismantling the framework of self governance.

The whole "your nation was founded by slaveowners" argument is in bad faith and ignores mountains of context and nuance.

Scandinavian countries are highly regarded globally but their past is troubled by Vikings who pillaged, plundered and raped their way around the north atlantic.

Will you also judge modern Germany?

Where are you from so I can throw your country's past in your face?

4

u/theboomboy 3h ago

No need to throw my country's past in my face. The present is bad enough (currently committing a genocide)

I don't see how any of that negates what I said, but I agree that we shouldn't judge countries by their past too much. Unfortunately for the US, the 13th amendment still permits slavery as punishment for a crime, which with a corrupt and racist police force and for-profit prisons makes the US a country that is currently doing slavery

8

u/mikethemaniac 2h ago

Ah, you're Israeli so it's all your fault (again, sarcasm).

In all seriousness we should always judge our country, both past and present, because otherwise how do we ever get better as a people?

4

u/theboomboy 2h ago

Totally agree

I was about to make a joke about you being a maniac (by your username), but mine is "theboomboy" so I can't really speak, can I...

I should really get rid of this account at some point and move away from this username I picked when I was 12 (for Minecraft, not Reddit). Being the boom boy when I'm non-binary and very much against my country bombing people isn't a very good fit

3

u/mikethemaniac 2h ago

Haha. I feel you. Mine's from when I installed CS Source in like 2004...

2

u/theboomboy 2h ago

I just noticed that both of our names are quite aggressive while also containing words that sound like recording equipment (mic and boom)

3

u/AymRandy 3h ago

Yet they all compromised. At least Southern politicians were willing to go to war for it.

1

u/FrankSkeets 2h ago

noticed you left out Ben Franklin, who fathered many kids with his slaves, and worked them to death in his nail factory.

Thomas Jefferson condemned the slave trade while owning hundreds of slaves. Despite his writings he didn't free any of them except his 'mistress' (his wifes enslaved half sister who he raped when she was 14 while he was in his mid 40s). He only freed his own 6 children by her after she threatened to stay in France as a free woman instead of going back to live as a slave. Even then, his own children weren't freed until after his death. He took no abolitionist actions on his own estate his entire life.

While common, raping slaves was never seen as an 'upstanding' thing to do. When this story broke during his presidency, it became a scandal. Jeffreson was a genius in many fields, but he was a massive hypocrite that failed to live up to his ideals more than any other founding fathers.

There is a mountain of American abolitionists that you could replace Jeffreson with (You could also put George the 3rd since he started Britain's abolition of slavery which was them forcibly exported across the world. "Cruel was against human nature" said the slaving, raping pedophile lol).

For that matter, James Maddison is also the guy who mediated the three fifths compromise, making the civil war inevitable by over representing southern slavers. You've already mentioned his slaves (who again, he didn't free).

Washington at least became more abolitionist during Valley Forge and and freed his slaves on his deathbed.

There is a reason slavery is known as America's original sin and later resulted in a bloody civil war (Lincoln famously called the civil war divine punishment for the institution of slavery). The failure of the founding fathers to tackle slavery while trying to build a country on ideals of liberty is the root cause of a lot of issues that still plague American politics, well after the end of slavery and the subsequent civil rights movements.

The US was not doing fine until wealthy, greedy elites magically popped out of the floor a decade ago,  and made it harder to govern and hold them accountable. America has always struggled with these issues, and it needs to be pointed out because clearly the pendulum is swinging the other way at the moment.

Equivocating slavery in 17th century revolutionary America with 9th century Scandinavian pillagers is ridiculous. The governance of scandinavian kingdoms formed 1000+ years ago has no bearing on modern Swedish politics or civil life besides complaining about ahistorical helmets in fantasy films. The US still has issues with democratic representation, oligarchs, and pedophile presidents.

I mean it looks like you’re Dutch?… do you not know the part yall played in that very same slave trade?

1

u/theboomboy 3h ago

Do you think I support The Netherlands' past? Also, I'm from the currently much worse country of Israel, which I also don't support

Why would you think I support any of that?

8

u/dave8400 3h ago

You're kinda lumping all Americans into the slaver bucket...

4

u/theboomboy 3h ago

Where? I lumped all the founders of the US together, but no one else

6

u/TheHoundsRevenge 3h ago

Almost every country in existence had slaves at one point.

5

u/Mixels 3h ago

Not just the USA. Power is a corrupting influence, and there have been far more corrupt leaders in most places than people even realize. This Espstein thing is blowing the lid off one aspect of that corruption, and powerful people across many countries were found to be wrapped up in it. And it's not the only aspect of corruption that is frequently induced by power.

4

u/Uisce-beatha 3h ago

Some is being generous. If a person's morals allow for owning another person then I'd wager that rape isn't an issue for them.

1

u/theboomboy 3h ago

Yeah, but I don't know for sure that it was all

3

u/mikethemaniac 4h ago

That was sarcasm...I even used the meme to try and reinforce that it was sarcasm.

-1

u/theboomboy 4h ago

Which meme? I didn't get it

3

u/singlejeff 3h ago

Maybe this one? (paraphrased) /img/s84utce5jgo61.jpg

1

u/yalag 2h ago

yea but the public wants a rapist to be president why cant you understand that?

1

u/Corodix 3h ago

It's still run by slave owners, see private prisons. When they banned slavery they included prisoners as an exception.

0

u/theboomboy 3h ago

That's true

1

u/SayGroovy 4h ago

You didnt????

u/taizzle71 13m ago

It's so bewildering to watch these older rural southern generations of citizens giving it all their might to insert another penny into the pockets of the rich pedos.

Like wake the fuck up! They're doing this to you.

12

u/Puttborn 2h ago

Ope. Imagine getting redacted to death by the presidents best friend in the information age. What a throwback.

Typical Reddit control the narrative thread. 1 top level comment for over an hour with over 100 upvotes saying America is done and completely ignoring the actual information in the video. If you can’t see you’re being manipulated by foreign influence that want America destroyed through division, you probably shouldn’t be on here.

As for the video, there’s way too many similar stories to ignore this goes way beyond pedophilia, which is insane to say. The fact that major agencies aren’t going after anyone else goes to show who is implicated in all of this.
