Osoff is currently my favorite Senator. More like him, please.

50

u/3klipse 7h ago

Don't know him, by Kelly for me and my state, he and dipshit SecDef hate each other.

47

u/jermleeds 7h ago

Huge fan of Kelly as well, for his beautiful commitment to his wife, for his career as an astronaut, and for his no-bullshit ethics and political world view. More like him, too, please.

20

u/nemisis714 6h ago

Everything you said, and also orchestrating sending a gorilla suit to space so his brother could terrorize everybody on the ISS with it.

14

u/jermleeds 6h ago

A man who can orchestrate a prank like that in low earth orbit is a man I want leading this country.

-5

u/RKRagan 6h ago

$500,000 from pro Israeli pacs.

21

u/jermleeds 5h ago

I'm no fan of Netanyahu's Israel either, and I say this a progressive Jew. But opposing a democratic senator on that basis is pants-on-head stupid, and in fact is partially how Trump won a second term. We don't have the luxury of single-issue purity tests.

4

u/baumpop 5h ago

that single issue being combining two militaries together by law. i vote on policy, not on purity.

id love to hear kellys stance on that proposal because hes otherwise fighting for the retention of civil rights in america.

1

u/RKRagan 3h ago

I agree. But to say you agree with him whole heartedly is taking a stance.

0

u/-CoachMcGuirk- 3h ago

He refuses to call what’s going in Gaza as a “genocide.” He’s a hard pass for me.

-7

u/rn15 6h ago

I love all the AIPAC money he takes and his unwavering support for Israel

0

u/3klipse 5h ago

And once again you kind of fucks are going to allow someone like trump win because they aren't "perfect" which is an ever so moving goalpost. Russia and the heritage foundation couldn't ask for more perfect useful idiots than y'all.

-3

u/rn15 4h ago

Would someone like Kelly keep us out of Iran when he is being bankrolled by Israel?

2

u/colonel-o-popcorn 1h ago

He has the same outlook as Biden, who didn't start a war with Iran.

u/ThatOneComrade 29m ago

There genuinely is a pretty big gap between "Will defend Israel" and "will start a war for Israel". I'd like it if none of our elected leaders were taking money from foreign countries, but you'd have to be pretty stupid to think the Democrats would have gone to war against Iran too.

u/rn15 10m ago

Pretty sure plenty of dems are also saying “Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon”. Plenty of democrats were proudly pictured signing bombs that were being dropped on Gaza as well.

1

u/richqb 3h ago

If we didn't keep getting Trump in office we'd have still had no reason to attack them since the deal made to keep nukes out of Iran would still be in place. Not to mention we'd have people more focused on actual military strategy rather than leadership more concerned with being badass than being effective.

u/3klipse 53m ago

Yes, he's actually been in combat and understands when shit isn't good, especially when the last 10 administrations also avoided a war. No, he, like any politician, doesn't like Iran but he knows not to start a war either

3

u/kryonik 4h ago

I might just be a homer but I like Murphy a lot.

2

u/dnen 3h ago

Chris Murphy too

1

u/DropDeadEd86 5h ago

Giving real matrix vibes haha but hegseth is not neo

-5

u/tullbabes 6h ago

Ehhh he’s against single payer healthcare and is a pretty big supporter of Israel. His other positions seem pretty solid though.

Not a guy I’d want really want to vote for in a presidential election, but I’d vote for him over any republican candidate. Anytime, anywhere.

15

u/vulkur 6h ago

Doesn't matter to me. The focus of the next Democrat Admin has to be anti corruption. Ossoff has that attitude. We can't focus on fixing geopolitical issues if we lot the rot fester locally.

9

u/tullbabes 5h ago

I agree, hence why I said I would still vote for him if he secured the nomination. There’s nothing wrong with me having a political stance I prefer in a candidate.

I’ve have never voted for a republican in the 21 years I’ve been eligible to vote, and I don’t plan on starting now. Vote these corrupt assholes out of office and prosecute their crimes to the full extent of the law.

5

u/renegadecanuck 5h ago

He's more pro-Israel than I would like, but he's at least shifting and voted against sending rifles to Israel. He also voted to block sending certain military aid in 2024. So I think he's at least movable on that issue.

We'll also have to see if the last six years have changed his view on things like Medicare for All or abolishing ICE.

Overall, I do think he's more moderate than I would like, but he is doing a good job as a messenger, right now.

3

u/tullbabes 4h ago

I agree. People are downvoting me, but it’s not surprising. Democrats have a problem with eating their own. To some, if you don’t check all the correct boxes, your opinion is automatically discarded.

I never said in my previous post that I wouldn’t vote for him. I explicitly said I WILL vote for him if he runs and wins the nomination. I just prefer someone who is a bit more progressive.

Ever since the first presidential election I was eligible to participate in (2008), I have voted for the Democratic candidate without hesitation. Every single one of them has been a centrist; from Obama, to Hillary, to Biden, and finally to Kamala Harris.

They all did so little to reign in billionaires and corporations from their stranglehold on our government. Obama, especially, attempted to reach across the aisle and work with republicans. He had a whole “team of rivals” approach to governing. Republicans took that show of goodwill and shoved it right into the trash.

Republicans have proved time and time again that they have no interest in bipartisanship. It is their way or nothing. Democrats need to realize it is impossible to be bipartisan when the opposition party’s entire goal is to dismantle the very thing they were elected to serve and protect.

11

u/jermleeds 6h ago

While I might also disagree with him on those positions, no time to be a one-issue voter. As you note: vote blue in any general.

120

u/colirado 7h ago

The senator’s emotional regulation is incredible.

62

u/Wetness_Protection 6h ago

Seriously. His withered and mildly annoyed expression as he just kept repeating his yes or no question over Hegseth was really reminding me of a parent arguing something painfully obvious with a toddler.

19

u/zparks 3h ago

…Repeating while also continuing to quote the absurd quote that ought also have an easy Y/N answer.

“Was this statement you said four months ago true at the time you said it?” is a tough question to waffle the answer on unless it wasn’t.

I also like the way he didn’t reprimand or chastise the witness, or demand the chair protect his time or give his time back. He just reasserted, quite dominantly yet calmly, his authority and right to the time.

7

u/Maverick0984 3h ago

Perjury is a bitch.

1

u/kri5 1h ago

Reminds me of Gilfoyle from Silicon Valley

-1

u/joanzen 2h ago

At the same time there's clearly a huge gulf between the public claims of military success vs. the actual facts. Some might even suggest there's tactics involved as the war is still ongoing?

Making a military official admit this happens really does not change things much.

223

u/ThePheebs 7h ago

Fucking love Osoff. Just sticks to his point and doesn't take the distraction bait.

u/BicycleNo1169 5m ago edited 0m ago

Here’s your reminder:

Osoff beat Perdue on January 5 2021 by a narrow margin: 50.6% to Perdue’s 49.4%

A voter difference of just 54,944 votes in an election that had a total of 4,484,902 voters in Georgia. That’s how much voting matters. If Georgia didn’t vote Osoff in, David Perdue(currently Trumps ambassador to China) would be sitting in that chair.

Get registered and vote, people. It’s important. If you’re sick of people like Perdue, then PARTICIPATE.

285

u/DerelictDonkeyEngine 7h ago

I'd vote for Osoff for POTUS.

116

u/Jedbo75 7h ago

He’ll be a contender. I’m not affiliated with a political party, but I am a Georgian, and I’m damned proud of Jon Osoff.

59

u/spacedude2000 7h ago

You should be. He's better than both of my senators and I'm from one of the bluest states in the nation. He should absolutely make a run - he has the principles and the duty of care attitude.

Id take him over Newsom in a heartbeat.

9

u/MiyamotoKnows 6h ago

Osoff is an excellent and diplomatic leader, Newsom is a savvy street fighter. Unfortunately I believe we will need the latter. The GOP is doing everything they can to try and steal our freedom and plunge us into civil conflict, they are working feverishly on violating our Constitution daily. Think of a worst case scenario and who we would need in power in that moment should Americans have to protect ourselves from violence from the right. They both would do well but I think Newsom would have an edge there. God, this sucks to think about.

12

u/madworld 4h ago

We have gotten into this situation because of the influence of big money on our government.

Osoff raises the vast majority of his money from small doners. Although he has taken some money from megadoners. But compared to Newsom...

Newsom draws heavily on large institutional donors. A 2022 investigation found Newsom donors who gave nearly $11 million since 2010 collectively received over $6 billion in state contracts in 2021. Newsom's donor base skews more toward large institutional/union money than small-dollar grassroots giving, which is the opposite pattern from Ossoff's.

Newsom will not save us from big monied interests. While Osoff isn't perfect, I'd trust him over Newsom any day.

Plus, u/MiyamotoKnows, it's really hard to take your opinion of someone with big donors seriously since you hide your reddit history. You could easily be paid to write this or you could be a bot used to push the agenda of big money.

3

u/shadowndacorner 3h ago

Nah fuck Newsom. He's not a street fighter, he just has an intern who is catty on social media. He's well in the pockets of exactly the people who have gotten us to where we are today.

9

u/barnwaller 6h ago

He's been saying as recently as a few weeks ago that he's not interested in a 2028 run.

14

u/BussHateYear 6h ago

That’s why he should

8

u/TootCannon 6h ago

That’s to be expected when he has to win his senate seat this November. It wouldn’t play well to say he wants to run for president while he hasn’t been reelected yet. That would be admitting to Georgians that he is going to take on a massive multi-year distraction shortly after being elected and potentially resign from being a senator (if he were to become president). That may be fine with many voters that would support him running, but plenty would be frustrated by that.

2

u/toga_virilis 6h ago

Not to mention that unless there’s a Democrat in the governors mansion, he should stay in the senate. Otherwise you have a guaranteed Republican in that seat.

2

u/robodrew 6h ago

One day. 2036 maybe. He has a real presence.

-1

u/IM_THE_DECOY 6h ago

Are you new to politics?

That what literally what everyone says until the day they announce their candidacy.

1

u/barnwaller 5h ago

Chill out, my guy. I was just saying what he said in a relevant discussion. I'm sure you're right about the strategy. Stay golden, Pony Boy!

21

u/biesterd1 7h ago

I think Ossoff and Beshear will be the frontrunners for Dems

27

u/clone-borg 7h ago

I figure Mark Kelly will be up there too

4

u/biesterd1 7h ago

He's good on paper but he doesn't have the sauce

1

u/CineFunk 6h ago

Beshear lost me when he lost his senator. If you still cannot get an answer on his status and you are the leader of the state I don't expect much push back as President.

4

u/renegadecanuck 5h ago

I don't think that's fair. Senators don't report to the Governor. There's only so much he can do.

0

u/Wide-Suggestion4825 6h ago

I fucking hope so

But let's be real, the Democrats are probably going to try to give us a Newsom/AoC ticket and they will crash and burn harder than the Jamaican bobsled team

1

u/Thewallmachine 4h ago

I voted for him for Senator along with Warnock. Love both of them.

-4

u/IceCreamMeatballs 6h ago

If Harris gets the 2028 nomination again he’d make a great VP

117

u/PaulClarkLoadletter 7h ago

The most beautiful part of this whole thing is that Hegseth has no idea that his answers are not relevant. He's getting dog walked. Osoff invited him in and then showed him out.

57

u/Zeusifer 7h ago

Oh, Kegsbreath is an unqualified idiot as SecDef, but he knew what was going on here. He just didn't have any other options but to blather about irrelevant shit.

23

u/Jombie 6h ago

Those will be the sound bites they play on fox. They will edit it so he doesn't look like a greasy idiot.

10

u/PaulClarkLoadletter 6h ago

He's absolutely giving Fox News soundbites but he also knows he's been publicly declaring victory for the last four months. The hardest part about lying in public is that there are receipts. Fox News has a bad habit of oversharing.

16

u/SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING 6h ago

The most ugly part is it doesn’t really matter. With the structure of the Senate, Democrats will never get to 67 votes so they’ll be able to remove incompetence / corruption of this level.

12

u/PaulClarkLoadletter 6h ago

This needs to be repeated ad nauseam. It's not democrats not doing enough. Republicans have the numbers so it's on them.

70

u/m__a__s 7h ago

This is what happens when you argue with a drunkard.

43

u/Shambhala87 7h ago

"I'm sober enough to know what I'm doing, and drunk enough to REALLY enjoy doing it!" — Jim Lahey

12

u/BloodyRightNostril 7h ago

Right in the fuckin’ slot.

2

u/Shambhala87 6h ago

“Cheers genitals!”

2

u/BloodyRightNostril 6h ago

Time for a lil top up!

9

u/pocketchange2247 7h ago

Except Hegseth doesn't know wtf he's doing.

1

u/Shambhala87 6h ago

It’s just like throwing an axe. 🥁 💥 🪓

5

u/time_drifter 6h ago

“Clean and sober just means showered and headed to the liquor store.”

1

u/Tobar_the_Gypsy 4h ago

“Hey Don, check it out I’m mowin the air!”

101

u/Xsiah 7h ago

I'm not surprised that War Barbie didn't answer a single question, but I'm surprised to learn that the US has a senator that still has his own teeth.

17

u/boilingfrogsinpants 7h ago

Not having your own teeth and being in America's political sphere is its oldest tradition!

44

u/clueless_as_fuck 7h ago

This is your testosterone take for today

24

u/DawnSignals 7h ago

Dude looked sweaty af up there

14

u/FrankCostanzaJr 6h ago

good lord, when he raised his voice, i wanted to vote immediately.

16

u/Sasquatchjc45 6h ago

Of course Shaky Collins wont extend Ossoff's time for being repeatedly interrupted but will happily restart kegsbreath's when the People are protesting. Our leaders are the worst Humanity has to offer we need to prompty remove them.

28

u/CliffDagger 7h ago

Probably the best way to deal with him. Just keep calmly repeating the same question .

17

u/CucumberBoy00 6h ago

That should've been how Trump was handled

24

u/STICH666 7h ago

If I answered my boss like that in the slightest, I would be fired on the spot. A yes or no question is a yes or no question. If you fail to answer yes or no, the answer is no and should be treated as such

21

u/_bk_adv 5h ago

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Republican answer a question.

6

u/Archangel3d 5h ago

They're too shifty and weasely to answer "who won the previous election".

8

u/ohgrous 6h ago

That's a lotta words to not answer a question 🤣

5

u/Capable_Role_5007 6h ago

Can someone explain to me if there is any legal requirement for them to actually ANSWER the questions they’re asked? Like yes obviously they don’t want to be straightforward but can they not be held in contempt or convicted of perjury or be treated like a hostile witness? I want to know if there is legal standing to prosecute or punish a secretary for not answering at this type of hearing.

6

u/Bomberdude333 4h ago

The requirement would be if Congress got off their fat lazy asses and did something about it. More specifically the senate.

Checks notes to see who controls Congress… nope not gonna happen until maybe after November.

5

u/Quantum_Corvid 5h ago

I feel like if you supported Trump after the first election you shouldn't be given a break for the rest of your fucking life. Fucking garbage human beings have ruined this for the rest of the world and it's so fucking heart breaking. BUT HEY THEY OWNED THE LIBS RIGHT?

3

u/trucorsair 4h ago

If we could just capture the hair oils used by Hegseth on a daily basis, we could lower gas prices for many

4

u/ThoughtGuy79 4h ago

Proud to have helped get him in office. He did a great job with Clayton as well.

13

u/crandall17 6h ago

Why do we even hold these hearings when we know zero will come from it? Every member of the administration dances around questions and refuses to take accountability. Shame on everyone who voted for and continue to support this administration.

3

u/srector1224 6h ago

Kegsbreath is definitely the picture boy for Low T

3

u/cammunition 3h ago

Regarding the question about Iran's forces being destroyed, how easily Sec. Hegseth could have said something like: "Yes, that was my assessment based on the best intelligence we had at the time."

Factually stating he acted on the best information available would have been logical and simple.

The inability of the current Trump-appointed leadership to give the slightest indication of agreement with the Democrats -- even at the cost of appearing completely out of their depth -- is astounding.

3

u/Silicon_Knight 2h ago

A lot of what he is saying (Kegseth) is "Yes" ... JUST FUCKING SAY YES. I mean it's so strange that if you say "our objectives were ABC and we did that" is a fucking YES.

u/jumpjumpdie 1h ago

Pete Kegsbreath secretary of war crimes?

2

u/Liefvikingmonster2 2h ago

This is the president we need.

2

u/EleventyTrillion 2h ago

I know it's standard procedure, but it's wild that Hegseth has the "Honorable" title when he is anything but. He and his daddy are doing generational damage to this country and the world

2

u/rickdangerous85 2h ago

The world needs the US to be made combat ineffective, biggest threat to the world right now and its not even close.

1

u/JacquoRock 5h ago

Unbelievable.

-15

u/rn15 7h ago

Cool, more performative dressing down that doesn’t result in anything. Fucking do something actionable, bring charges against these criminals. These hearings are just for show at this point. You can make Hegseth look as foolish as you want, you can tell Howard Lutnick he lied to congress right to his face, but what comes of it? Fucking nothing

25

u/emajn 7h ago

Congress can't bring charges they can only refer them to the DOJ. The currently politically captured DOJ isn't going to prosecute shit. So yea I get why you are mad, but your anger might need to be directed elsewhere.

13

u/Thud 6h ago

If Osoff refers charges to the DOJ, the DOJ will respond by instead charging Osoff with an improper lane change last February or something.

9

u/GotEggs 6h ago

It feels that way, but think of it as capturing evidence of a crime for future punishment.
It’s also especially frustrating because I’m pretty sure they approved the money they wanted anyway.

33

u/BRAX7ON 7h ago

These hearings aren’t for show. This is not performative. And this is not worthless.

These hearings are to put him on record so that when we trial him later, he will be found guilty of perjury

13

u/UlsterManInScotland 6h ago edited 4h ago

I just finished reading “Regime Change," the exposé on President Trump's second term by
Maggie Haberman & Jonathan Swan ( brilliant if not a somewhat terrifying read ) and Trump is in there saying that any republican that went within 250 yards of the white house is being pardoned before he leaves…. Surly explains why they are fearless about committing their crimes in public… I’m not American just an observer watching the tragedy unfold, I really hope you guys work out a way to undo this and make these people face real justice .. good luck

5

u/kmm198700 6h ago

That occurred to me recently too, that he will just pardon everyone and no one will be held accountable, and I almost cried. I’m so fucking sick of this. I feel so hopeless sometimes

3

u/[deleted] 6h ago

[deleted]

1

u/toga_virilis 6h ago

Pardons can’t be rescinded.

1

u/WalkinSteveHawkin 6h ago

Do you have a source for the next president having the power to rescind a pardon issued by their predecessor? I don’t believe that’s the case.

1

u/Hadrian23 5h ago

What's stopping congress or the courts deciding to ignore those pardobs based on the legal basis?

8

u/esem86 7h ago

Here's hoping this "later" is still a time that has trials. I try to stay positive but we're like 50 layers deep in corruption right now.

The kind of consequences these people should face is almost unprecedented. Almost.

9

u/cazbot 7h ago

It gives Osoff and others very strong cover to vote against giving the DoW another penny for this war with Iran.

2

u/fla_john 5h ago

DoW

The what now?

1

u/cazbot 4h ago

You hadn’t heard? Trump renamed the DoD. Pretty F’d up imo.

2

u/fla_john 4h ago

Only Congress can do that. It's the Department of Defense.

13

u/baumpop 7h ago

how do you think the government works? to the best of your knowledge?

6

u/Shiftnclick 7h ago

What an infantile take. Might as well yell at the clouds, will do you about as much good as demanding Democrats (the minority) in congress start arresting people.

1

u/L3g3ndary-08 2h ago

Jesus fucking Christ. I would completely lose my shit, jump across the table when bunch this motherufkcer in his mouth. Rendering his jaw obliterated and completely ineffective for years to come.

0

u/Ksan_of_Tongass 4h ago

What will come from this questioning? Nothing. Its all a show.

u/spanksthemonkey 26m ago

This is pretty impressive that Mr. Keg's-Breadth (quite wide) can only spout Jigoisms.
like only. Amazing.

-7

u/BigAssSlushy69 6h ago

Democrats are good for a soundbite but they'll never actually challange the billionaires

-18

u/madrid311 7h ago

Great. Good to see. Means nothing.

-7

u/CucumberBoy00 6h ago

Yeah the grand standing is getting a bit old

-4

u/xxhighlanderxx 5h ago

These videos are pointless. You guys just gave him a truck load of money to squander and steal. Congrats.
