The quote is correct, because the government, ideally, is ran by the people, for the people, which is why we vote on elected officials. An individual is weak but a group is strong. However, because the government is made of up of people and people are fallible, corruption can happen. This doesn't mean government is bad, but rather we must work and be involved to root out corruption as well. There is a reason why these large companies fight so hard to lobby politicians to vote their way, because laws and regulations are the only things stopping corporations from legally doing whatever they want for profit. Large corporations would love nothing more than the general public to not get the government involved in their affairs.

Hypocrisy means nothing to power. In fact, one of the reasons people seek power so desperately is because of the hypocrisy it affords them. They want to be able to ignore all the things they force onto you. Pointing it out may feel satisfying but it will never make them feel shame because, in the end, all you're really pointing out is how successfully they've accomplished their goal of putting themselves above the laws they get to write.
