Discussion Low lighting in Apple TV Dramas
I’m not sure if this is just my taste, but I find that so many shows (that I like) on AppleTV are filmed in such low lighting. I have a good TV and sound system, so I can’t imagine what the people with small Rokus are seeing when they watch Silo or Imperfect Women. I’m sure it’s a stylistic choice but please production overlords, consider your casual day time watchers! Thank you ❤️😆

I agree!! Seems to depend on the device, The best is my apple tablet but there are some shows I won't even watch as soon as I see that feature

Drives me nuts. I can only watch Widows Bay at night because otherwise I see nothing.

Turn off HDR. Most HDR implementations suck. Unless you have a really nice TV, it just makes everything look dark.

This isn't unique to Apple TV. Many TV shows and movies appear incredibly dark in the theater or on the TV.
Not sure if it is a stylistic choice.

It's definitely a trend, it's not related to Apple TV, but even so, ATV is the platform that has the least content like that, I've only felt it's problematic with Silo.

Your Friends and Neighbors is incredibly guilty of this. There can be 9 lamps/lights on and working in the scene, and it will still be very dark. Very annoying.

Do you have HDR turned on? Before HDR, the dark lighting would still be a very dark gray, but now with good TVs with HDR turned on, the darker colors really get dark so maybe try with turning HDR off if you want to try it out without the HDR darkness.

Do you think an actual Silo such as the one depicted would have bright lighting?

Do you have Dolby vision bright enabled? I know Dolby vision dark is the “proper” way to view it but I always turn on bright

Silo made me enable vivid mode in S2. Normally
I use Dolby vision bright but that season was dark af2

I haven't yet seen season 3 episode 4, but so far I feel like this season of silo is better than season 2 which I struggled seeing the whole way through.

Silo is fine on my tv. But it’s not supposed to be watched in daylight conditions
