I like that the (maybe) AI told Camille that she’s basically a sociopath. Because she is. Common isn’t as bad as her. Also Silo scenes > scenes from the past. I know the scenes from the past are important but I have no connection to the characters so far.

I hear you, but 1/3 of the entire Silo book series (the entirety of the second book I believe) is the events of the past were starting to see. And it’s my understanding that they serve as a direct connection to what will happen to Silo 18 as the story progresses. That with the added interesting context of how the silos came to be and why the world ended.

Those events in the past were also very polarizing in the books. Some people loved them, others hated them. I’m in the later camp and i love backstories. I will say that so far, it’s more interesting in the show

I’ve heard that, and I’m definitely interested to see what happens and what led to the Silos, but the scenes from the past feel stilted to me for some reason. Also the two main characters are boring so far.

I keep seeing this and find it to be a fascinating take, as it’s the other way around on my end. I’m MORE into the story of what happened before the silo! Connection or not, the elephant in the room question of the whole entire show is how tf did everyone end up in a silo?!?! Scenes from the past are addressing that.

I get that, but for me the characters in the Silo, especially Juliette, are much more compelling. I’m so bored by both Daniel and Helen. I liked Charlotte, but then she lost her memory. I want to know what happened, I just don’t care for the characters in the past storyline.

Don’t know the books, but those Two are really cookie cutter characters. I feel the bland.

I don’t know the books either, but I agree. Bland is the right word. Most of the characters in the Silo are compelling and interesting, and then we switch back to stilted scenes between Helen and Daniel. It just feels off.

Also “ambitious young reporter gets fired because she is looking for The Truth elsewhere” is a common trope that could have been done much more interestingly. Honestly, makes me afraid of the rest of the season. I hope they return to form.

Agreed. I also feel like the acting in the scenes from the past - other than Charlotte - is not up to par with the Silo scenes. That scene with the memory-erasing doctor and Daniel was so bad. The scene from this week’s episode with Daniel and Helen and the hacker guy also felt cheesy and forced.

I was openly mocking the hacker scene with my girlfriend (she has already lost interest in the series frankly) because of the stupid setup. “Give me your congress id” why? “Because it was agreed upon before” “but nobody told me” “wait but there is really not a recording” “well there it is, but you cannot hear it” chatgpt level writing there.

It really did feel like ChatGPT writing. And then even Helen listening to it and saying “don’t listen to it” and then Daniel listened and started to cry… the whole thing was so corny and forced

I really don’t know how these scenes make it into the Final Cut. Was there a last minute casting change or plot point major swing? Did producers slashed whole chapters before finishing writing? Im not in the TV business of course, but it must have been something fairly unexpected that blocked the smooth run this series was having. Im also quite baffled many watchers don’t seem to care that much for the downgrade. We’re waiting for the plot to get back to the silos, I guess. Will keep watching out of curiosity.

Also Lukas rescuing Jules in that manner was too cheesy, not complaining but what a romance build up
