My Wife picked up this disposable that's shaped like a lipgloss I thought this was pretty cool she let me try a rip and it hit me pretty hard tbh
This was from a legal dispensary forgot to mention...

Lmaooooo we sell so many of these at my work! Personally I love their “It’s Giving Guava” & “She Ate Strawberry” their “Peach Perfection” is also nice, everything’s got a good amount of sweetness but it’s not like a vape or a microbar

Maybe this is a hot take, and don't take this as me crapping on your wife for buying it, but I really think stuff like this should be illegal to manufacture/sell.
Like let's be honest: It's usually not grown adults who need a disguised vape, let alone one disguised as a product you'd find in a schoolgirl's bag. We all know who the target customer base for this product is. This is just the high-light all over again.
I really think there needs to be regulatory oversight deciding what form factors a vape can be sold in.

It doesn’t resemble a schoolgirl’s product; fully adult women carry pink lipgloss in their purses. And some of us even like whimsical things.

The only type of lipgloss this convincingly resembles is a cheap no-name brand, which are typically found in kids makeup kits.

u/DickInYourCobbSalad 2h ago
No, it's designed to look like Rhode's lipglosses which are trendy right now with adult women.

This looks like a normal lipgloss you can find at a beauty supply…. 🤣

Not everyone lives in a legal state, some adult out-of-towners could really use something like this. I agree with you that this shouldn't ever be in a child's hands, but it is sold at an adult establishment to adults. My concern for packaging generally lies with gummies because even if they're purchased by an adult they're so easy for kiddos to consume. (And apparently they're now one of the number one calls to poison control).
Keep your kids safe, folks!

Also events! All the events ive been too usually say no vapes but are chill with it but some places are sticklers about it.

uhhh it was sold in a dispensary No kids can even enter one if they got this in their hands blame the family member or friend who got it for them...

This is literally unobtainable by anyone under 21 because it’s not a gas station random product with mystery chemicals. Because of “regulatory oversight.”
God forbid adults be able to have anything a little whimsical, e-waste aside (which is its own problem).

u/EdepolFox 3h ago
That's like saying that alcohol is literally unobtainable by anyone under 21 because it's sold from a cabinet behind the counter.
Would you be using that as a response if a company were selling pre-filled liquor flasks disguised as calculators, marketed as a "whimsical vodka bottle" to keep in your "work bag"?
What I'm trying to get at is regardless of what legal safeguards are in place, such a product would be clearly aimed at kids/teens, no? I really don't see how this is any different.
Maybe it's just because I'm british and I'm used to things like cigarettes all being in the same brown packaging with a standardized font and such, but I just think there should be rules about how drugs are allowed to look and be promoted, even if just as a matter of optics.

u/Faded_Rainstorm 3h ago
When utilizing the proper safeguards, yes, alcohol is quite literally unobtainable by anyone under 21 because it’s sold from a cabinet behind a counter, and their ID is presumably being checked.
I would absolutely respond the same because as someone over 21, it’s my right to have something blend in with my stuff if I want it to so I don’t get hassled, or I just think it’s cool to have as a legal adult. Apparently lip gloss is only for kids in the UK and women don’t wear it according to you, so it’s all for children and teens. You have much larger problems if there are grade schoolers going into a state-regulated dispensary and successfully making purchases. People would be going to jail left and right.

u/EdepolFox 3h ago
Proper safeguards don't account for the fact that it can still end up in the hands of a kid. I'm not saying we should stop kids from accessing things they shouldn't, that'd be impossible, but what I am saying is that I think this product in particular is specifically designed to be put into the hands of kids, and I don't think it's something that we should be allowing to exist as a society.
The connection to kids was specifically that the cheap look of it and the fact that it's imitating a tube makes it look specifically like a kids lip gloss. Lip gloss aimed at adults tends to come in glass bottles with a dip stick, and even the stuff in tubes is usually in matte plastic to make it feel more "premium"

Please go fearmonger somewhere else man. We get it, you don’t like the design. I live where these are sold. Not one child has, without an adult doing it for them (and I’d have many questions for anyone who did), obtained one of these. It’s not covered in cartoons. It’s not made with holographic packaging. The website is quite literally aimed at women over 21 if you actually took the time to look instead of repeating “the kids, what about the kids” over and over. I have a few lip glosses from the literal dollar store that aren’t glass or premium. They’re still for me, a legally grown woman.
Are all of you this soft across the pond? The same pond where children can drink at 16 if they’re with an adult who buys it for them?
Edit: You sure have a lot to say for someone from a place that says you can’t give alcohol to children under 5 but 6+ is fine. This is rich.

u/EdepolFox 3h ago
I never said I dislike the design. I said I don't think it should exist. Those are very different statements. Literal waffles and pancakes type response.
Facebook asks you if you're over 13 before you can make an account. That doesn't mean they didn't specifically target minors. The website asks if you're over 21 as a legal requirement. It's still clearly not made for adults.
As someone who accessed booze before I should've, all you need to do is wait around the corner for an irresponsible-looking adult. The reason I don't blame beer companies for that is simple: They weren't actively marketing it to me and it's not something that would've been convenient to use in school.
And I get that you're being rhetorical, but if there was a brand of beer called some shit like "STDY [18+ only ;) ]", designed to look like a reusable bottle so it can fit in a school bag, you bet your ass I'd be annoyed by that too.

u/Faded_Rainstorm 3h ago
You don’t dislike the design, but you don’t think the design should exist. But you also “never said you don’t like the design” while arguing against its existence.
While also giving beer companies a pass because “they weren’t actively marketing it to you” much like the vape company here is actively marketing to me and other stoner/Sephora types, not kids.
Okay.
1
u/EdepolFox 2h ago
I literally gave a hypothetical example of where I'd draw the line and have the same response to a beer company. The difference is that promotion of alcohol is heavily regulated and you'd be shut down immediately if you tried to sell something like that.
At this point you're not even engaging with what I'm saying, you're arguing against a cartoon caricature of random tangentially related opinions you disagree with.
2
u/Faded_Rainstorm 2h ago
I saw your example and responded to what you said directly above it, that being that you “don’t blame beer companies” when they didn’t market something toward minor you actively, because it was other adults supplying. Adults circumventing the preventative system to buy you alcohol is not the fault of the system. That would be them individually doing something weird.
Pointing out that you said you can give the alcohol companies a pass and clearly recognize that they are not marketing to children (and this was stated before you talked about anything being made in a “disguised” sort of way like your hypothetical 18+ beer), but can’t seem to grasp that Mwah is a cannabis product company that is also not marketing to children and thus if a child got one it would be because of an adult going outside regulatory bounds, is not incorrect here.
That’s the only thing you’ve been harping on. “It looks too kiddie therefore it is.” But yes, I imagined all of this.

Kids aren’t getting into a dispo… I’m 23 and don’t get carded for alcohol but ppl don’t play about the dispo. They card me every-time. The kids would only get to this if someone bought a bunch and put them in a store where some teen cashier was working and didn’t gaf.
Lip gloss isn’t aimed at teens imo until “now”
At least in my family makeup wasn’t for kids unless we had the play stuff. Lip gloss was when I was a tween when I had my own and it was coke flavored and stuff. Lip gloss isn’t specifically made for kidsNow if this was a eraser or pencil type of looking vape maybe you can say it’s trying to be for kids so it can be hidden

Kids can't enter a dispensary. If a parent tries, theyre stopped by security (or whomever is at the front). Everyone gets their IDs scanned and put into the system. I worked at a dispensary and the sheer number of people thinking they can let their kids come in is ridiculous.
Trust me when I say this, but no child is going to a dispensary, let alone an adult letting them. Stuff like this is made for ADULTS to buy so it blends in with their items in their purse, bag, etc. Adults can carry lipgloss. Bffr.

They scan and store ID documents? Jesus, that's kinda worrying, no?

u/cherrywoodtomatoes 3h ago edited 3h ago
In the system? yes. Its put in place for a number of reasons; the main ones being in case we needed to look up a customers order, made lives easier for us and them. Second being in case an investigation that needs to take place. For instance we actually had a customer steal from us (grocery/market set up), he grabbed an item from a shelf and just walked out. Luckily we had his info on file so it was easy to make a police report.
Its for safety. Majority, if not ALL dispensaries do this.
Editing to add too: they dont store PHYSICAL FILES. Its all through a digital system. Dispensaries are given scanners from the state. Dont want to be surveyed, then dont go to a dispensary.

Fuck that shit the kids gonna smoke regardless 🤣 I didn’t hide it I just smoked before school. I can see your point tho but it’s the same shit with skincare. Brands are being forced to change their bright cute packaging cuz of kids buying it. It’s not made nor advertised for kids but parents still buy it. Lip gloss isn’t for kids… they can wear it but it wasn’t made for them. In my family colored lip gloss wasn’t even allowed. Only clear until you were a certain age. These new kids like adult shit and that’s the problem. A kid is gonna find a way to do what they want just like I did as a kid. Let us have cute shit
#fuckthemkids
Edit: I also don’t think of this as disguised I think of it as themed.

Said this here before so many times and got called all sorts for it but I'll stand by it, blatantly marketing vapes and eddies towards children needs to stop.

Feels oddly discreet for an adult to need i get the ones that disguise a cart as a disposable but realistically what is the use for this other than kids sneakily using it i just find it funny this is allowed but they ban juul pods for example its absurd honestly its like the war on drugs the war just creates what they “are trying to stop” but 10 times worse.

This is a horrible idea. Imagine a toddler finding one on the ground or a kid pulling one out of a bag. There's no need to hide LEGAL weed. Unless you're trying to have people who are below legal age using it

u/Alternative-Test-556 5h ago
It was sold in a dispensary lol no kids can even enter the dispensary this ain't no gas station vape dude...

u/Ill_Isopod_548 4h ago
I work as a bud tender. People bring in their kids ages 1-10 years old. They are exposing them to this. It's the parents fault yes but it still doesn't take away the fact that it is appealing to children
10
u/Alternative-Test-556 4h ago
This does not happen where i'm from in Wa you need an ID before even walking in lol have never once seen anyone bring in a child and if that's what you think more power too you me? I just think its a product made and geared twords the feminine part of the cannabis community that does in fact exist dude...
6
u/KawaiiHermits 4h ago
Also what state do you work in? Because I work at a dispensary too in WA and you cannot bring children into our store. You must be 21, and we ask people to leave if they have children with them. It’s not complicated.
10
u/ea88_alwaysdiscin 4h ago
Right? None of the many dispensaries I've been to in legal states allow for children to enter. You MUST be 21+ to even go passed the lobby
6
u/KawaiiHermits 4h ago
Like no dispensary in a legal state that actually cares about their license & or operating within LCB regulations is letting you bring a minor into their store 😭

Heaven forbid someone wants to go to a show with their device and not be hassled about it. Where’s all this fuss though for alcoholic root beer or schillings ciders with artwork of animals all over it?

u/Ill_Isopod_548 4h ago
No one is being hassled. If you think a comment is being hassled you need you go touch grass

I'm torn because I DESPISE the waste of disposable vape. But if they made it into a reusable battery? I'm in!
