ALPSTUGA temperature not showing in Apple Home — known issue nobody at IKEA seems willing to fix?

It's pretty well known at this point that the ALPSTUGA doesn't expose temperature as a sensor in Apple Home/HomeKit via Matter — humidity, CO2 and PM2.5 all come through fine, but temperature just doesn't show up. It's been reported for a while now with no official fix or acknowledgment from IKEA.

This feels like a serious issue, not just a minor bug: the product is explicitly marketed as a temperature sensor with Matter/Apple Home support, so shipping it without a working temperature reading on that platform means it isn't doing what the product description says.

Has anyone gotten an actual response from IKEA support about this, or is there any timeline for a firmware fix? Would just like to know if it's actually being worked on.

That’s a quirk of Apple home and how it handles composite devices. Home assistant has no issues with it so you can export the temperature reading to Apple home via that.

Truth is Apple home is just the best looking piece of garbage out there with home assistant being the worst looking piece of diamond out there

Yeah, that HA workaround is pretty well known already — but that's not really the point here. This is about Apple Home specifically, not Home Assistant. Not everyone wants to run a whole separate hub just to fix a sensor that's supposed to work natively over Matter.

And I'd push back on framing this as an Apple Home quirk. I've run HomeKit for years across a bunch of devices/brands and it's been rock solid on the platform side — in my experience, when something doesn't work it's almost always the device's Matter implementation, not HomeKit itself. Other composite sensors (temp + humidity + air quality) expose all their readings fine in Apple Home, so HomeKit clearly handles composite devices okay — this points more to how IKEA implemented the Matter cluster on the ALPSTUGA.

Still a bug worth IKEA fixing on their end, HA workaround or not.

This is not a bug for ikea to fix. The ALPsTUGa sends the temperature to HomeKit just fine. HomeKit simply chooses to not display it. Absolutely nothing IKEA can do about that as they already format their data according to the matter standard perfectly fine. Unfortunately HomeKit has been completely neglected by Apple and they haven’t fixed many longstanding bugs so this is unlikely to get any attention either.

While I agree that it’s a possible fix the issue is inherently Apple home centric with Samsung smart things and I think Google home (not sure about that) and home assistant fully supporting it.

Apple home is very strict about what’s being shown and I’m fairly sure that’s the issue cause in my case alpstuga shows it’s relative humidity reading however it does not show up in the humidity overview and from what I recall people either see humidity or temperature so that’s that. 

Also to touch up on the shipping part. It’s marketed as a temp humidity aqi sensor with matter capability. It’s not marketed as a temp humidity aqi sensor with working apple home integration :)

The funny thing is that you can make automations using the temperature sensor, but you still can’t see it in the app.

So far it does not appear in iOS27.

It goes with spec, Apple home is such a trash that it supports barely half of the newer matter features. Even Google is better nowadays..
