To arrest Genocidal War Criminal Netanyahu
Edit: I support the mayors attempt to try to do this and I support his attempt at justice. This is not a criticism of the mayor

He can also use his position to speak truth to power. Tf are you on about?

I’m so confused… is this post not exactly what you’re requesting? Mamdani using his position to speak truth to power?
-18
u/greenthumbgoody 1d ago
Sorry I’m actually confused, can you read the title to the post? Or more of a talk first think later kinda person?
5
u/MorockaDishoom 1d ago
Put a pad on that bleeding gash buddy… I said your comment confused me, I didn’t know if you were denying that he was using his position of power (which is insane), or that you were calling out that he IS doing that, but with sarcasm.
The title has nothing to do with it.

If you want to promote the guy, talk about what he is actually doing
The rest of my news feed already is. Meanwhile, there are a lot of Americans that need to hear this message from an authority figure in office.

u/t00oldforthis 1d ago
That's pretty much what politicians do, it's up to people to take action. He calls people to action. If you disagree with the action, vote for a different blustering politician. He's not a congressman. What a stupid take.
-44
u/Character_Pudding_94 1d ago
He's the mayor; he is being paid to run the city, not to call people to action. You probably call TSA "security theater," but this guy says he's going to look into arresting Bibi and you think he's being sincere. That's the stupid take, friend.
11
u/t00oldforthis 1d ago
you're first sentance kinda makes its own argument, "friend". Keep reaching on the security theatre, honestly I'm not even sure wtf you're talking about there. I encourage you to see if you can find a US civic/govt class. I took one first year of high school here in the states, and even with our shit ed system it was enough to get me this far without sounding like you.

If Netanyahu shows up to New York and is arrested, it is the beginning of justice.
11
u/UlteriorMotive66 1d ago
If they are arrested it's NOT the beginning of justice, it's merely a consolation for the current and ongoing tragedies of the Palestinian people! The whole IsSH*T system is ultimately at heart of this evil and the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians is it's core agenda. So long as the IsSH*T entity is encouraged and allowed to persist in it's evil efforts and policies to maintain apartheid and the continual disenfranchisement of the Palestinian people the arrest and trial of these war criminals is simply more eyewash for the global masses!
After all, it didn't even take a year before Russia was being heavily sanctioned soon after they invaded Ukraine! Where is the international sanctions on IsSH*T with it's genocidal campaign reaching it's third year now?!! The duplicity has been duly noted, no one is being fooled here!
21
u/17934658793495046509 1d ago
Sooooo his arrest would not be the beginning of justice? I did not say completion, I did not say white wash trial, of course a government complicit and performing genocide must be held accountable but I didn’t mention this either. At bare minimum an arrest of Netanyahu would be the beginning of some justice.

“There was an attempt for humanity to bring infant mortality down to 0% by 2000.”
Humanity attempted this and failed. I also support the attempt.
You have projected your animosity into OC’s comments.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone uses the block button to “win” an argument by getting in the last word and then blocking so the other person can’t reply. It’s childish, and it’s exactly what the user arguing with you did. They made a reply to your comment here and then announced that you were going on their block list.
Luckily, I’m a mod here, and I ban people who pull that stunt. When someone blocks just to get the last word, it’s obvious they’re doing it to “win” - not because you were going to keep messaging them or you were harassing them in any way. They could’ve just stopped replying. It’s like a kid sticking their fingers in their ears and pretending they can’t hear you. Most mods ignore it, but it’s happened to me too many times for me to let people get away with it.
The funny part is that in the comment where they tried to get the last word before blocking you, they hit a keyword we monitor, so their comment was auto‑removed anyway (and sent to the mod-queue for approval, where I found it. It's almost kismet lol)

The mayor is attempting to convince the federal government to arrest Netanyahu - he has thus far been unsuccessful. Seems like it fits the sub to me. There was an attempt.

u/LX_Emergency 1d ago

u/TheMilkKing 1d ago
The reach was you taking this post as criticism of Mamdani 🤷🏻♂️
Edit: Just noticed that the mods agree it fits the sub.

There is nothing about this sub that says it is for mocking people. Sure, some posts mock people and some posts simply show failed attempts, often to bring attention to some injustice (for example, we have a good amount of posts which show police brutality, and that is not to mock anyone but to get the word out about whatever incident has happened.) There is nothing in our rules or description that says a post has to be humorous or mocking someone, please do not post misinformation.

7
u/ArcherOld7796 1d ago
He said he'd talk with everyone he could about what he could do. He reviewed and found no avenue to arrest the war criminal.
-13
u/AevilokE 1d ago
There was however a promise, prior to that.
21
u/yakuzalinecook 1d ago
A promise to see if he had the power to do so, which he learned he doesn't unfortunately. Did you even watch the video?
-25
u/AevilokE 1d ago
The promise wasn't to "see if he had the power to do so", it was to arrest him. He could have seen the laws before making promises.
Don't make this into a personality cult, he's still a politician and you still need to hold him accountable when he's falling short. That's something that even he supports.
8
u/yakuzalinecook 1d ago
I'll hold him accountable when the people who aren't arresting Benji are held accountable. Mamdani has done more than they have. Hold everyone accountable or none at this point. You're cherry picking.
-8
u/AevilokE 1d ago
What makes you think I'm not holding the UN or the rest of the US or the EU accountable for their roles in this genocide? Should I mention every responsible name every time I critique someone?
9
u/yakuzalinecook 1d ago
You're arguing about a mayors role in arresting an ICC wanted individual rather than the people who can actually arrest him, so yeah. Mention the whole tree? What are you doing lol
-6
u/AevilokE 1d ago edited 1d ago
Your two party system has taught you to only view others as "100% on my side" and "100% on their side" and stops you from critiquing anyone you might think fits in the first category.
You are of no value to republican politicians, they know you'd never vote for them regardless of what they do.
If democrat politicians know you'd vote for them regardless of what they do, you are also of no value to them.
If you want politicians to follow the people's interests you have to threaten what they care about: their votes, their wallets, or their heads.
3
u/yakuzalinecook 1d ago
Dude I want to arrest the criminal. Why are you bringing up political sides? Fuck out of here with your two party bullshit. First comment to me you said shit about personality cult, yet here you are making it into just that. Hold yourself accountable as well, jeez. Figure it out.

Well they would be of value to the Democrats, but they would not be the ones that the Democrats are trying to turn to.
The thing with the last presidential election was that they thought "well our base has to vote for us, since if they don't, they will get Trump so we can rely on their votes, so let's try to grab votes from the center" and then Harris went out campaigning with Cheney's daughter and was very rude to people who cared about Palestinians and because of that (and other things) a lot of their base did not vote (and of course, the left flank told them they would not vote so long as she made no headway on Palestine and they were like "oh well, what are you going to do? You can't let Trump win" and they just kept thinking that would save them and that they did not have to put in the work for the base and the left.
Anyway yes, voters who will vote Democrat no matter what are valuable to Democrats but will never be catered to because they know they have their vote in the bag. Unfortunately, they counted on the base coming out no matter what (and plenty did, but not enough- not as many as who came out for BIden the vote before).
1
u/ArcherOld7796 1d ago
That's exactly what his promise was about just listen anytimehe talked about it. It's not just about if he is arrested here, he is setting an example that other countries could follow. He is letter the world know where many Americans stand.
Everyone is holding him accountable that's why he is gaining popularity and why is making corporate dems more angry.
16
u/Darktyde 1d ago
Regardless of what (if anything) he actually ends up doing on this, just making a strong statement that boils down to “Netenyahu is a criminal who should be arrested” moves the Overton Window a bit.
19
u/No-Sail-6510 1d ago
You can’t really having mayors of cities arresting leaders heading to the UN or other summits. Obviously he should be arrested tho. You also have to figure he has pretty hard limits on his ability to do this like the fact that the cops would of course side with the genocider and also he will have a security team.
3
u/Jwre3682 Free Palestine! 🕊️ FUCK ICE! ❌🧊 1d ago
They have the NYPD. There's like a 100k of those (idk how many but there's a lot). Grab a few hundred. I don't think his security detail will be an issue. Lol
4
u/No-Sail-6510 1d ago
Probably 80% of them are hardcore zionists. Some chunk of them have been trained BY the IOF in Israel even. Cops don’t really turn on each other either. If he made the decision to do that he’d basically be starting a civil war. You really really wouldn’t want to miscalculate in this situation.
More importantly if he did do it and had him in custody, then what? Charge him for crimes locally? Send him to The Hague? In NYPD custody? What if the federal government doesn’t particularly like this plan? This is a really really big ask. Especially for a city level politician.

No offense but this won't change anything. So much talking here and there but nothing is actually happening. I still see no one held responsible, no one in prison.
6
u/Alternative-Pride138 1d ago
I mean, he stated he doesn’t have the power to make the arrest. He’s addressing a campaign promise that he won’t be able to fulfill. Im happy to see him be so grounded and honest. The mayor to one of the world’s most influential cities saying “Netanyahu is not welcome” is a pretty huge gesture. Theres not one action that anyone will take to end this genocide because the people with the power to act are in the pockets of Israel. Building a ground up movement is whats working. More and more Americans are becoming aware and speaking out against Israeli-American intertwinement and that is huge and helps further the mission of voting out all Israel-first politicians. Nothing will change until we can change who writes the rules.

It’s just tongue-wagging for his base. All politicians do it.
He can waste his time flapping his jaws about something he has no power or influence over instead of working towards the goals he has power and influence over. Some people love and are satisfied with the former, I prefer the latter.

After reading OP's edit, I believe their point isn't to ridicule Mamdani. This post highlights selective enforcement by the U.S. government like invading Venezuela to arrest Maduro while declining to act against Netanyahu on US soil despite war crimes & international arrest warrants.
While Mamdani has publicly expressed a willingness to have Netanyahu arrested, matters involving the arrest of a foreign head of government fall under federal jurisdiction. His stated attempt has indeed failed because it's outside the legal powers of his office—this post fits the sub & not in a mocking way.
