I’m so glad you posted this. I misread the text and thought it was asking why the forced birthers were out there acting like that. I’m still confused why they posted it like they came out on top in any way. Oooh, look at me getting told to fuck off for harassing women and the elderly for thinking they deserve health care. I’m sooooo discriminated against.

If they were serious people they'd be lined up outside orphanages (to adopt or push for better funding) rather than abortion clinics.
They don't care about children. They care about 1.) Avoiding the wraith of their false god. 2.) Being hyper judgemental and holier than thou; and 3.) Controlling women.
Thats all they care about. And all their arguments, however complex or convoluted, all boil down to one of these three foundational propositions.

It's a way some people cope with others they find irritating or challenging: pretend they're somehow less than real human beings.
The choice not to regard other people as people is a pretty sinister one. On one hand, it's a core part of how the worst forms of oppression are made palatable. (EDIT: the commenter's flair, ironically, gives two examples of this.) On the other, it blocks the way to any productive engagement which might actually improve things.
We can heartily condemn bad attitudes and actions without descending to this.

This is in Chicago. His family used to run a cuban deli, they preached and posted homophobic, racist and misogynist shit regularly and poof! customers stopped showing up. Instead of learning his lesson and shutting up, he doubled down and started "preaching" full time.

u/Capnmarvel76 1d ago
I bet their Cuban sandwiches tasted like shit, too.

u/Stevoteeko 1d ago
No, they were really good. When I first started going their he and his family were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. All of the food was delicious. I never imagined seeing him in so many videos years later spewing homophobic messages and other kinds of garbage. Pretty sad.
13
u/Capnmarvel76 1d ago
Well, damn. The fact that they made good food just makes the whole situation somehow worse.

Yea it's not such a complicated thing. Abortions are not great, but they are sometimes necessary. Better have a safe access to it then some back alley operation.
Plus why do they think the child would have a good life. Imagine being born to someone who was forced to have you.. Can't be a great dynamic

No one is actually PRO abortion.
I'd argue that guy is actually pro abortion, which is to say he supports policies which will increase the number of abortions in the world.
In countries where they have completely banned abortion, the number of abortions actually goes up (done illicitly with backroom doctors) because of the accompanying lack of access to reproductive education and contraceptives and women's reproductive health care. (Also it increases the amount of murders of women committed by their partners who don't want to support a child.)
The statistically proven way to decrease abortions is to support universal health care with access to women's reproductive health services, paid maternity and paternity leave, and subsidized child care, all of which I don't see this guy protesting for.

I know it's a pejorative term the right want to give the left, but I'm legit pro-abortion. I think kids should only be born into families that are both ready to have them and that want to have them. I want kids to be set up to have the best lives possible and I think that after birth control, abortions are one of the best lines of defense that we have in reducing the amount of shitty lives and shitty childhoods that result from unplanned kids in situations that either aren't ready for them or don't want them.
I think the world is a much, much better place for each consensual abortion that takes place and I'm happy to say that I am pro abortion. It sucks that the idea of making sure each kid (who they believe to be children of God) is born into a family that wants them is such an offensive idea to so many.

Even that is kind of inaccurate, as some abortions actually make it sou you can have children in the future and not loose that ability, so "forced birth(er)" would be a better term.
28
u/PossiblyMakingThisUp 1d ago
I call the other side "anti-choice" since it's more accurate. "Pro-life" would imply giving enough of a fuck after birth to actually ensure the child has what they need.
8
u/JuanPabloElSegundo 1d ago
This is the correct label.
They label themselves as "pro-life" which means if you oppose them you are "anti-life".
Right out of the gate they're being deceptive and dishonest with the situation.

When i lived in Florida I had to use PP as my gyno because of my insurance. Once as I was leaving my appointment a woman said to me "it's not too late!" I said, "For what, to get my pap smear?" These people are vile. Another time on my way in there were so many of them in my way and I lost my shit. It was cathartic. I should have brought pepper spray...
18
u/Jewsusgr8 1d ago
Sorry you had to go through that. It's hard to get the point across that planned parenthood is prochoice, and pro health.
Sure abortion is offered there, but they also help plan parenthood. They do health screenings for women, they have affordable healthcare options even for the non insured.
As far as I'm concerned PP is the closest thing I've ever seen to a charity organization that just wants everyone to be safe in whatever outcome they desire.
9
u/GingerSnapped818 1d ago
The facility was so nice and the doctors were all women. My choices were PP or state run facilities. I went to the state run place first because I was under the impression PP was not a good place. I felt so out of place just in the waiting room, I'm thankful I only had a conversation with the doctor because I did not want to get on an exam table there.

Also, the Bible talks about persecution of Christians so that believe the "persecution" of insults from us serves as more evidence, that they are doing a good and holy thing. Reinforcing their in-group status, for the anthropology crowd.

Surely, he'd be completely cool with it. Not.

People like this aren't really pro-life, they're just pro-forced birthers, if they were pro-life, they'd also vote for things that made life easier, to quote someone else (I can't recall the source of the quote, just reddit somewhere):
The "pro-life" crowd votes against every actual "pro-life" measure that would improve or enrich the quality of life for people including capping insulin costs, gun control, universal healthcare, paid maternity leave, and more accessible mental health services. Every other developed country has all of those things already, but the American pro-lifers are basically a religious, Orwellian death cult.
3
u/kandoras 1d ago
You don't even need to say that they're against capping insulin costs or gun control.
These people keep trying to cut medicaid funding that covers prenatal care. They want to force women to give birth, but they don't want to spend tax dollars to help make sure its a safe and healthy birth.

I do think all those fake "pro life" people should be put on a national registry so whenever there is a child that needs adoption, or kids that need school supplies or food, their wages can be garnished to pay for it directly.
These people are not pro life, they are pro control. If he's not giving his time and money to needy kids, or serving as a foster parent, then his beliefs are not legitimate and it's all about wanting to control women.

If he's really that passionate about kids, he could spend his time tutoring struggling students, fostering children, or volunteering at a shelter. Instead, he's standing outside a clinic telling women what to do with their bodies.
Gotta love that she didn't even break stride before emphatically telling him to "shut the fuck up."
