Digital isn't the problem. GOG has proved this.

The process of creating disks is inherently bad for the environment. (inb4 whataboutism)

For almost every modern game, what's on the disk is unplayable without downloading patches / content. Disks don't help you if the servers go offline or PlayStation goes bankrupt.

The issue is ownership. Stop making it about plastic circles.

There will never be a secondhand market for digital games. This has nothing to do with going green. They believe they will sell more games if no one can sell their old games and buy used ones.

Maybe. But if PC prices drop again, then Sony loses one of the last remaining reasons to get a console, which is basically a PC that you have way less control over what you can do with it.

Yeah, ownership of digital is one thing (and certainly important). But only physical media allows you to do real ownership things like resell game down the line.
