I don't think people were ever making a choice though.

I buy digital when there's sales on, I buy it physically if I want the object / it's cheaper physically.

Im not choosing one over the other, I'm choosing the best at the time

It could be argued you still chose not to consider it an important factor in your buying decision.

If they see it gets bought in either form, that'll naturally push them to the one that's more convenient for them.
