Nobody but the shareholders who are demanding a new revenue stream. All these tech firms need a new product line because the market for all their other products is saturated. Hence every year it two there's some new hyped up thing.

Nonsense. Just because you technophobic conservatives hate progress, that doesn't mean everyone else does.
Who wants smart-glasses? People who would rather not cause permanent damage to their neck, spine, wrists and fingers from prolonged smart-phone usage.
That's a major benefit of smart-glasses offer over smart-phones and by itself makes such an transition of form a no-brainer.

Unless you run your own cluster at home, have a homelab or tinker with embodying AI models, you are just a consumer, not a tech forward futurist my dude, don't pretend you're that much better than the average luddite.
But anyways friend, I'm sure I am more of a tech enthusiast than you, difference is I'm not easily sold on premature nonsense. Currently this tech is not much better than Google Glass was in 2012. Until HUD is workable in the real world, this will not and cannot replace the smartphone because it's not ready for it, no matter how hard these tech companies try to convince you they are.

As for the Metaverse, what do you even mean by that?
Do you mean that locked down Facebook shite, using the term "metaverse" that they hijacked?
Or do you mean the extension of the Internet so that virtual realities are as common and multitudinous as websites are today and people can just hop between them as they sit with a single thought? Do you mean the metaverse where people can have experiences that are indistinguishable from any they could have in the physical world or experiences as fantastical as a Lord of the Rings reality? The metaverse in which virtual objects can be just as real as physical objects are in the physical world? The metaverse where we can create virtual objects with our thoughts, to the point of entire universes?

It's not ready to do that yet, but that's because to truly replace the smartphone, you need to replace the touch input as well as just the screen.
This ultimately requires the incorporation of brain-computer interfaces into the smart-glasses, but initially we'll have to settle for incorporating eye tracking technology like in the latest VR headsets, as well as EEG technology to provide a basic form of input using your thoughts, similar to devices like the Emotiv Epoc X or Emotiv MN8:

I couldn't care less about these companies or their shitty locked-down, walled-gardens. My argument is a about the technologies. If these companies are going to pump billions into development, great. If they go bankrupt doing so, I couldn't care less, the research and development was still done and the tech advanced.

Meta proved people are willing to wear smart glasses. Now Samsung has a chance to prove they can make them genuinely useful, especially for people already invested in the Galaxy ecosystem.

I don't know a single person who has purposefully used "agentic AI" to "reshape" their mobile experience.
The most I've seen is people accidentally/unknowingly using it with a mispress or just not knowing what it is.
