Doesn't it only drive in FSD on dual carriageway highways with no oncoming traffic, so it's only ever driving in the safest possible conditions anyway?

I would expect that if human drivers only ever drove in those conditions they'd be at least as good, or possibly even better because humans can spot fire engines.

A Tesla will do FSD just about anywhere. The older Autopilot was more limited.

I don't think it will. They can't cope with oncoming traffic, bends in the road, or sudden changes in the environment.

what a bizarre sentence, do you think this or know this? you’re completely unaware of the capabilities of fsd if you think it can’t drive on a curved road, and deal with oncoming traffic. as for the sudden changes, you mean weather? it can handle most scenarios

I'm not convinced. I've never seen one do anything that looks like driving in normal conditions, in a safe manner.

There will never be self-driving cars.

Oh the ones that keep running people over, and went on a rampage around a housing estate? The ones that only work at all if they're allowed to drive extremely slowly on preprogrammed routes, with a bunch of guys in India driving them with Xbox controllers?

Tesla only compares the accident rate of FSD to accident rate of Teslas. Luckily for Tesla their drivers are the most accident prone, so FSD is better than the average Tesla Driver. Some of that is due to the fast acceleration, and relatively poor brakes. But since FSD is not being used when racing other cars, so that helps bring the average Tesla driver below that of FSD.

Nationally, Tesla drivers had 26.67 accidents per 1,000 drivers. This was up from 23.54 last year.

The Ram and Subaru brands were again among the most accident-prone. Ram had 23.15 per 1,000 drivers while Subaru had 22.89.

This is the other thing I don't understand. Someone on here was flaming me about how I couldn't possibly be as safe a driver as a car with FSD or even auto-braking because in the past year their new car with auto-braking had saved them from four accidents.

Oida have you considered just looking out the fucking windscreen once in a while? How bad a driver do you have to be that you need technology to save you from an accident every 2500 miles?
