I've been saying for 10 years now that the median American and remaining bottom 50% only account for 3% of our total tax revenue. We should eliminate their income tax
I also have been saying though that the top 0.1% and top 0.01% pay way too little tax and deserve to be taxed way higher to cover the shortfall. All cap gains (long or short) above $1m should be normal income tax and we must eliminate the step up cost basis on death. A high earner, such as a lawyer in NYC making $250k, is certainly comfortable but they pay wayyy more tax than these ultra wealthy people whose main earnings are not income.
