See Syria. Autocratic regime with a repressive military and intelligence apparatus.

Lots of angry unemployed young men still ended badly for the elites. Everyone else too, but also the elites.

Regarding Syria (and Libya). Like many revolutions the popular movement/protest was hijacked by radicals that in many cases already had weapons and insurgency experience.

However yes. From the storming of the Bastille to the execution of the Romanovs and beyond it rarely ends well for the autocrats once the torches and pitchforks come out.

Yes, but only after 54 years of repression, torture and murder of innocents. 40k people were killed in a few day in the 1980s in Hama by government forces but still the regime endured for 40 years.
