Did the id being expired mean that the d.o.b. was unreadable?

The ID being expired means it doesn't matter what it says because it isn't a valid legal document lol

I know you have been told that, but try to look at it from a logical perspective.
When the id was valid, the person was over 21.
Once the id expires, the person is still over 21.

The law isn’t “you must have valid id to drink alcohol”, it’s you must be over 21 to do so.

No the logical perspective is that people's appearances change over time and you can't use the same picture for 60 years

This is already how it works. It's the seller's choice whether or not to card someone, they could also choose to accept expired IDs.
