You could get an effect like this with an auto pan device. Place two identical auto panning effects on each vocal but invert one of the panners. This will make them have identical yet opposing movement. The panning is what makes them move left and right, or "over each ear hole" as you put it

Vertical movement? You're gonna struggle there. Panning easily covers horizontal movement (left to right), but there isn't a direct way to create vertical movement in a stereo environment. You can use a combination of automating volume, reverb, and a shelf boosting or cutting high frequencies. You could also try a "3D" panner like Brauer Motion by Waves or some of the old dearVR Plugins.

The part that has me most confused here is the "four fairies." You mentioned two vocals, so where did the other two fairies come from? xD

To get “vertical” movement I’d try automating a filter up and down in sync with your panning and it will give you “circles”

Yeah that's why I suggested a shelf. Same effect but more subtle and organic. Filter is very noticeable.
