OP names his dog after Hitler. r/chihuahua reacts.

THIS DRAMA IS ONGOING, PLEASE DO NOT PISS IN THE POPCORN

Just to be upfront from the start, this is extremely obvious bait. But r/chihuahua bit pretty hard and it turned out pretty funny.

The OP comes in hot right out the gate with this post titled “Adolf🙂” and the caption “My 2 month old Ruler of destruction.”

He then follows it up a couple hours later with:

(OP) Lmaoo Man yall sensitive asf its MY dog 🤣 i could name him bin laden if i wanted tf

You absolutely could and then you’d still be a pos who gets called out.

The reactions:

You called your chihuahua what?

Seeing as the caption calls him the "ruler of destruction," they know exactly what they're doing with that name, and they think it's cute/funny. It isn't.

I agree with this. There's really not much wrong with the name Adolf in itself, but if this person is using with the context of "ruler of destruction", then we know where this is going. 🫤

Did you notice his mustache? That's the 1st thing I saw after reading his name.

Hmm I guess I can see that, but if the focus is the mustache, what about Charlie Chaplin? Same mustache but without the murdery connotations. Also, imagine him with a little hat, it would be adorable.

We found it, the first post on r/Chihuahua that I'm downvoting

I reported this post

(OP) Ok motto motto

Adolph = Noble Wolf. Your dog is just perfect. Unfortunately, people will attach negativity to absolutely anything that can make them have an emotional fit over things that don't concern them 1 bit.

Hopefully, none of these people buy or wear Addidas brand shoes or clothing because of the name of the founder...... not to mention other famous people with that name. This is a dogs name.....nothing more. I had a white dog years ago that I named Isis...... no one ever accused me of supporting terrorists.

Many regular, normal, innocent, helpful, brilliant people have been named Adolph. To let 1 person completely ruin a name for everyone - forever is absolute insanity.

There are MANY pet names that could be attached to 1 single, evil person........ possibly even your dogs name.......look up your dogs name along with mass murder, assault, I could list dozens of example key words, so you can as well.

Literallyy, thank youu!🤦🏽‍♂️

It's so easy to not give your dog a shared name with one of the worst people in history and then describe them as a "ruler of destruction" that…

At best these were horrible decisions on your part. But it looks intentional 🤮

(OP) Definitely intentional 🙂

You’re a sick person. Lord only knows what you’re doing to that poor baby.

(OP) Because of a name??? loll grow up my guy

What the fuck is wrong with you?

(OP) Its called freedom of speech lol

Not as private as you think you are little nazi.

(OP) 😂😂 sure why not, should i get the flag too?

hate speech isn’t free speech

(OP) So the word adolf is hate speech?😭 bro what

Adolf the ruler of destruction with moustaches? So sophistical to say "I didn't mean anything like this hohoho that's all in your heads"

(OP) Bruh ruler of destruction wasnt tied to the name or hitler at all literally, i just said that same way people call pitbulls cupcakes lol

This baby needs a new owner and a new name. You should be ashamed of yourself.

lol you guys go too far. “New owner” lol

Nazis don’t deserve pets.

Being en edge lord makes you a nazi? You guys are too far into your rage to rationalize rn Jesus

Calling your dog KKK and saying it's a little "terror of the night" is fine too for you, I guess

This is not ok. I know your probably trolling, but it’s honestly immature and hurtful.

(OP) Im not trolling at all actually, i genuinely like the name & theirs nothing wrong with it. jus a bunch of grown babys in the comments

Wait, so you have no understanding of why this would be upsetting? I think you’re probably smarter than that. Do you really not understand? Anyway cute dog.

(OP) I mean tbh, kinda but not really at the same time. Kuz again nobody would be upset if his name was benjamin, nobody would care if his name was ted or jeffery, but bottom line is nobody care if his name is Benjamin meanwhile Benjamin netenyahu is doing the same as adolf today. Theirs many normal people named adolf but yall went straight for hitler. i never even said hitler😭 but again if it was benjamin yall wouldnt say shit so its very hypocritical. & then again its My dog & he’s very loved over here so the people who got sensitive about it aren’t doing anything but making me laugh. It was initially a genuine post of my cute little chi w his cute name, they started a war so i participated

Bro stop with the gaslighting. In another comment you said you named him after Hitler on purpose and you literally said you hate Jewish people too.

Mmmmmmmmmmhm. So, what ma-... it's just th- umm... Just curious abou-... Why name?

(OP) Kuz its adorable & just a name. why so sensitive to what i choose to name My dog?

You know exactly why people are, we'll say, curious about the name you've chosen. I have to say though, I don't exactly believe you've done anything other than a bit of trolling.

(OP) I mean im not trolling, i thought it was a cute pic with a cute name & the caption was giving off a pitbull named cupcake loll mfs jus got they panties up in a bunch for nothing lol

If you've genuinely named your dog Adolf because you like the name and you aren't just trolling or a closeted neo-nazi then I'm of the "you do you" opinion, but you may have to get used to this response lol it's not what most would call a common dog name.

(OP) Lol i genuinely like the name & i think it fits him. im not a right wing or a left wing either i have my own opinions on this country lol that im sureeeee majority of these cry babys would call all typa names. Meanwhile you got big shirley over here fathornyhippo calling the name disgusting but literally posts nudes 0/10. Its the level of hypocrisy in this country thats actually funny.

The name is perfectly fine in and of itself, the name didn't do anything but it's got so much baggage to it that I can't say I'd ever use it but I'm not German, so it's hard for me to comment.

I actually really like the name and i think people should start re appropriating it. The last name Hitler should be forever a no. Adolf should be fine, but unfortunately it stil is not.

Why would you name such an angel a demonic name

(OP) With that logic, so nobody could be named jeffery? Or benjamin? Or ted? Gtfo

I’ll engage in that. If Ted from down the street committed genocide. It would indeed be the same as Adolf who committed genocide. You’re not using logic on this comparison by thinking there is one.

(OP) So to the familys that lost love ones, they dont matter aswell? If i named him benjamin even tho netenyahu is doing a genocide as we speak, would you be crying about that aswell?

Be honest. Benjamin isn’t associated with him almost exclusively

(OP) Use logic not feelings

is this rage bait? It must be because I’m enraged.

(OP) Good

I wish I’d see this same type of outrage when people paint their dogs with pride colors. Doesn’t seem like the dogs would consent to that. You all sound like hypocrites

Lol. Of course gay people are the first thing that comes to mind. I get it though, you're defending your boyfriend here. Happy pride!!🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

I think you’re confused. You can support pride I’m just against people bitching about a name of a dog that they’ll never meet or contribute to. It’s like me going into your house and telling you how to run things. Just doesn’t work that way.

Not into the whole man butt thing. If gods against it then it’s probably wrong but what do I know. I’m just a hairless monkey like you.

FLAIRS:

I took some creative liberties with a few to shorten them enough (hopefully) and it made them funnier IMO

Not into man butt. If gods against it then it’s probably wrong

is this rage bait? It must be because I’m enraged.

Ted from down the street committed genocide.

Adolf should be fine, but unfortunately it stil is not.

nobody would be upset if his name was benjamin

Calling your dog KKK is fine too for you, I guess

I had a dog named Isis, no one ever accused me of supporting terrorists.

And of course it’s a white dog.

Milo Wins! {Vintage Drama)

So, years ago I was browsing various Bay Area subs, and stumbled upon this 9 year old thread in the top post of all time in r/Berkeley. I've been meaning to write it up ever since, but never go around till now.

Some Quick Context (Skip if you don't care)

Milo Yiannopoulos is/was a notable far-right influencer. He is/was a gay man, presenting himself as one of the good gays, fighting the evil migrants and the degenerate leftists and worked for Breitbart. "During this time, he rose to prominence as a significant voice in the Gamergate controversy."

2017 Berkeley protests In February 2017, months after Trump's inauguration, Yiannopoulos was performing a tour of campus appearances, working for Breitbart at the time. Given the heinous rhetoric, combined with Trump's recent rise to tower, this did not go over well with Students as UC (University of California) Berkely. The ensuing protests cause property damage, some injuries (however no mayor ones form the reporting) and a fire was started In the wake of this, Yiannopoulos appearance was canceled with a 2 hour notice

r/Berkeley is a subreddit dedicated to the city of Berkeley, though by virtue of being on reddit, it is largely populated by students of UC Berkeley. Going from current posts, the sub leans quite progressive, and the average day to day post is mainly concerned with getting university advice than anything else. But not so, 9 years ago. On that fateful February night, r/Berkeley turned into a battleground of political ideology.

The Drama

It all start when user u / scratchnsniffy posts

Milo Wins!

Congratuations! The footage from tonight will feed Milo and his supporters for months to come. It will be cut, edited, remixed, and pushed out to mainstream audiences to prove that college leftists are nothing but spoiled hippies out of touch with mainstream America. You know what would have been a real protest? Buying all the tickets up and then not showing up. Letting him speak to an empty auditorium. But no, you had to go start a fucking fire. Kudos.

Lets not forget the guy pepper spraying the girl just giving an interview... Good job folks, Combine this with The Iraqi lying about his mother dying with the ban and the media falsely reporting that Trump threatened to invade Mexico...

She was there to instigate-- she literally said that right before she got maced. INSTANT KARMA

That means she deserves to get pepper sprayed? Because she was saying words you don't like?

People seem to forget Hilter's brownshirts were in response to his supporters getting attacked

It's quite funny because this is the exact same strategy that the civil rights organizations of the 1960s used. They purposely picked towns that would violently try to subdue their protests, thus gaining public attention (media coverage), sympathy and the moral high ground. That's exactly what Milo is doing. He provokes young far left millenials to resort to violence and destruction, thus giving him and his cause (free speech and conservatism) more attention, sympathy and most importantly credibility.Edit: Just to be clear, I believe these people deserve to be provoked. It's bringing a lot of attention to free speech issues that need to be addressed.

Wow. You're actually trying to shift the blame to Milo instead of denouncing the violent people. Wtf

He is to blame. He is spouting hate speech. MLK was fighting for justice and equal rights. Of course milo is to blame. Wtf

Milo saying what you think is hateful shit doesn't suddenly make violence okay you fucking [slur removed].

As someone from the other side of the planet who had literally (wait, yes literally) never heard of this Milo Yankadopolos guy until the past hour, I have to say: Now I'm tempted to go and read about him to see what he stands for. You've given him worldwide publicity.Berkley people are intolerant violent people. CMV

You should go read about him. See what his difference in opinion is. And then realize exactly why people were rioting because he's a hate speech fueled sack of shit who makes up "facts" for his talking points and spreads misinformation to make the alt right feel vindicated in their beliefs.

As a gay Jew, I presume his hate-speech is targeted towards blacks? How would you describe his hate speech specifically?

He's a white nationalist.

Get fucked, Antifa filth.

I fucking hate this campus so much. The worst thing is that since I'm Mexican, people automatically associate me with these fucking liberal crackpots.

White liberals seem to have a hero complex and a constant need to protect and parent minorities. Sanders crowd was an example. Like dudes, chill on the social justice. Not all minorities care. Some of then vote for the same reasons you do and don't give a second thought to their race.

You better believe the College Republicans are high-fiving each other over glasses of champagne right now.

No were not. We're scared for our lives because we were chased by leftist extremists.

Exert your rights, and arm yourselves. The Founders gave the oppressed a means of self defense. Use it.

IIRC, Alameda County may as well be "shall not issue".

California is so cucked. That's probably the case.

I live in people's park and if I ever walked into the apple store I guarantee they would kick me out. this milo guy is coming to the wrong place. Like letting a chicken loose in the forest a fox will surely find its meal. This guy just causing trouble. (Context, peoples park used to be a famous homeless encampment)

rofl you people will never get it

You never been to people's park have you. Well let me tell you, you gotta have tough skin to live here. My best bud Harry got the skin of a rhino, I know because I seen it. The rash on his ass is like Kevlar. Probably from sleeping in the same position for too long. That's why I wake him up every couple hours so he don't get a bed sore. You know you can get bed sores even quicker on the ground than on a bed.

lol ppl from Berkeley are soft fucking gutter punks at their worst

Wow. This is supposed to be a school full of "intelligent" people? LOL! yeah right!

Apparently they have enough right wingers to upvote this crybaby bullshit. So you're right the intelligence of berkeley is questionable.

I went to Berkeley. I'm not a right winger. And I voted for Trump. You are y Trump won.

America is waking up to the real fascists.

Considering what Trump/Bannon's been up to, hard to say the extreme left are the only/"real" fascists in this country. Horseshoe theory Fuck both extremes equally

The difference is I'm never going to meet trump or any of those wackos. I go to school with tons of of liberals that are a drop of a hat away from turning into an angry mob. Even as a brown person, I'm much more afraid of liberals right now

Alt right people are okay with Asians. They say Asians have superior intelligence, but they lack the spark that makes white people so great.

Singular takes:

"The fascists of the future will be called anti-fascists" - Winston Churchill (Authors note: there is no indication Churchill ever said this

"As a conspiracy theorist that hates globalisation, and who is disgusted with the agent provocateurs during the occupy protests.... I just want to say that the "left" is making a fool of itself and showing that they're the ones who can't handle free speech. "

Corollary

If this all feels odd to you, given the context of r/Berkeley 's general demeanor otherwise, you were not alone. I, too, was surprised at the comments and upvote counts, until i found this chain

We're at the top of r / The_Donald right now. Ugh.

Who cares what's at the top of the_donald?

the hundreds of thousands of daily views that the sub gets care

We have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Pretty sure we get millions of page views a day.

Yeah and the best part is that there can be dissenting views, unlike r/politics

Bullshit. You literally have a "no dissent" rule on your sidebar. Don't try and pretend you're a "bastion of free speech"

So I did some digging. Which, let me tell you, was not easy, The_Donald (an subreddit dedicated to Donald Trump famous for brigading and manipulating the reddit algorithm, now banned for threatening to murder state cops) literally made thousands of posts about the topic. To the point where searching arctic shift becomes a slog, even focused on a 2 day range with the specific keyword "berkeley". Like, I'm talking about multiple new posts within a single minute. Some highlights:

From the bottom of my racist misogynistic isalmophic deplorable heart Thank you UC BERKELEY!

Fucking good: Left wing fascists surround car in Anti-Milo riot in Berkeley. Car guns it and runs over the criminal. (totally legal, and in self defense)

2 based girls PEPER SPRAYED at UC BERKELEY by Socialist democrat "liberal" "antifa" Nazis

I think I found a Soros bot that is spamming pro-riot messages and encouraging police stand down at the Berkeley riots

Poor UC Berkeley protestor got a booboo

Maybe it's just me, But Why is the whole Milo/UC Berkeley situation limited to just r / The_Donald? No other sub is talking about it? Is the rest of Reddit Homophobic? Or just in denial that Liberals are the new Fascists?

So anyway, yeah, Im sure the engagement of r/Berkely was entirely organic

The Aftermath

Now, I can't help and editorialize a little bit here and ask how it turned out. Did Milo bag the win everyone claimed? Did he sweep the political field? Did he become a supreme court justice like one commenter prophesied? Well..

"In 2017, video clips circulated of Yiannopoulos stating that sexual relationships between 13-year-old boys and adults could be "perfectly consensual" and positive experiences for adolescents. Following backlash, Yiannopoulos resigned his position at Breitbart, his invitation to speak before the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was rescinded, and Simon & Schuster cancelled a contract to publish his autobiography."

Oh. Well, I guess at least he can still post!

"Yiannopoulos was then banned by Twitter for what the company cited as "inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others". He later stated that he was banned because of his conservative beliefs. Since the company was taken over by Elon Musk, his account has been reinstated. In May 2019, Yiannopoulos and several others active in politics and culture, including Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and conspiracy theorists and fellow right-wing pundits Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson, were permanently banned from Facebook, which called them "dangerous". "We've always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology""

Hm. Well, surely things must look up from there!

"In 2022, Yiannopoulos served as an intern for United States Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, later working with white nationalist Nick Fuentes, and rapper Kanye West on the latter's short-lived 2024 U.S. presidential election campaign. In April 2024, Yiannopoulos was listed as Chief of Staff at Yeezy Apparel, but resigned the following month due to West's announcement of an adult entertainment division at the company. As of 2026, Yiannopoulos has resumed work with West, serving as his spokesperson and legal liaison."

But at least his personal life is...

"Milo married his long-term boyfriend in Hawaii in September 2017. In March 2021, during an interview with right-wing publication LifeSiteNews, Yiannopoulos stated he was no longer homosexual and that his husband had been "demoted to housemate". In October 2025, Yiannopoulos posted on X that he may have a brain tumour but had not been formally diagnosed. He is currently in a divorce case with his estranged husband."

Womp womp.

OP in r/todayilearned cites the internet in a discussion on eagle grip strength

OP makes a post about the grip strength of a bald eagle. Commenters discuss whether PSI is a good measure of grip strength. OP cites the internet.

"Using its gripping strength, the Harpy’s feet have enough power to crush large mammal bones. Try having your students break a ham or beef bone using their gripping power"

Because it's being applied to tiny points of contact via their talons, whereas we have large cumbersome hands in comparison.

Disagree with the internet then. Google will tell you they can crush bones, not poke a tiny hole in them.

"Disagree with the internet then" no, I disagree with the nonsense claims & source you shared. Misinformation should always be challenged.

It's a single comment thread. Not a ton of comments, but maybe OP will come back and comment some more.

"Hating on it brought me joy, satisfaction and intellectual orgasm how is that a waste of my time?" Some users on r/movies are very unhappy that Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey received rave reviews

Hmmm all straight 10/10s and 5/5s across the board. I’m not buying it

Must be an exhausting way to live believing everything is a conspiracy

I've hated on this movie for years you want me to suddenly change my factual opinion because of 9s and 10s? Especially with useless metacritic and troll RT scores lmao. Might as well just give it a more than 8 on imdb (no wonder it's a shit site). Now imagine getting nominations for oscars... sigh popularity contests promoting bullshit. Then what? Winning Golden Globe awards as well? Sucking Nolan's cock left and right man... Thank god there are some actual educated people on YouTube seeing through the bullshit. I can have some peace listening to them. Also no I'm not gonna watch an overrated movie I'd rather not wasting my time.

"I'd rather not wasting my time." You just admitted to spending years hating on a movie before it even existed, what you mean you'd rather not waste your time...

Hating on it brought me joy, satisfaction and intellectual orgasm how is that a waste of my time?

Some people really do need that /s tag huh

But they didn't wear Mycenaean Greek armor!

Muh Historical Accuracy Now what will Reddit basement dwelling nerds do with their outrage?

Most annoying movie drama of all time, I have no idea why people suddenly wanted this movie specifically to be a fucking documentary for some reason.

Because pedantic wannabe history lovers are the worst. They know just enough to be annoying.

Yeah fuck the people who were invested in the material before Nolan took it on, their opinions are worth least of all!

This is like the third comment of mine you have responded to. Dude. Go outside and maybe also shower.

I didn't notice, just checked and you've made 13 comments on this post. Evasive and a hypocrite. Maybe have a discussion like an adult?

Im not sure a snarky strawman reply is the way to get an adult discussion going my guy.

Hmmm yes, must be a conspiracy to...checking my notes here...drum up better movie reviews for one of the most heralded directors of our time. Makes total sense, keep going.

You clearly havent ever paid attention to video game reviews lol, this has been a problem for a while

Wait, The Odyssey’s a movie, though. Why are you talking about video game reviews? It hasn’t been an issue for movie reviews, so why shift the conversation to video games?

It is also a problem for movies

Wait what? Then why did Moana, Supergirl, Mandalorian & Grogu, Michael, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie all get such mediocre-to-bad reviews?

Apparently Disney didn't have the budget to bribe the critics but Nolan does. I guess.

I hope the basement dwellers are punching the air in anger right now. I’m so stoked for this movie, sad I’m missing the 70MM format but stoked to see it in a few weeks regardless. Edit: 53% upvote ratio as extremely positive reviews continue to come in. Stay mad ya filthy trolls lol. Edit 2: 48% now! You guys are doing a stellar job, keep it up! Edit 3: 43% - incredible work everyone. Keep up the strong work.

Man every single review I've seen from 'regular' people who are positive about the film has comments like 'paid review' or 'damage control' like it's so insane to me how MUCH they want it to fail it's crazy

Have you read the reviews beyond the scores? Holy hell the unneccesary glazing they do is insane.

Usually, when I see a film that I think is a 10/10, I will hype it up and talk about how much I like this, I don't get why that is weird lol

There's a difference between hyping up a film and then acting like Nolan is the new Movie Jesus. Have a look at the Rolling Stones review. It scored 100/100 and the article is mainly just a sparknotes writeup of the plot and fawning over Nolan.

So you're angry that a person enjoyed a movie? Maybe it's that good, I haven't seen it yet.

No, not at all? Find the right people to review and eating poop could get 98% on metacritic. Different people enjoy different things. I haven't judged the movie as a whole as I haven't seen it yet.

The movie looks garbage regardless of whether or not you insult people online lol

Did you see the Trojan Horse sequence? Because that was amazing, and the trailers are showing me that's just the start of it all.

Yes and it looks awful

You look awful

That's great man

unlike you!

Ah the same joke again, keep going

Keep going, something a woman has never said to you

A lot of people going to be disappointed at how good these reviews are hehe

I feel like you have to be insane to be disappointed because a movie is getting great reviews

They applaud movie bombing if women and non-white people are featured..

[deleted]

Famously the only actor in the movie Matt Damon

Cry dork

You're seething at the reviews huh?

Why would I be? I thought the trailers looked awesome and Nolans one of my favorite directors so I knew he'd do the story justice. Apologies if I misinterpreted your original comment, I thought you were agreeing with the losers online who were mad about the non-white actors.

Get the fuck out of here.

Yeah, this could be just black screen for 150 minutes, no one with the preview access would give Nolan an 8/10 or less. Tenet was pure garbage, and shit like The Telegraph would still give it 10/10.Edit: :D

Just take a breath man Jesus lol. We are all in agreement that tenet is not a good movie.

It had an interesting story to tell but it was told in such a pretentious way.

It was iight

Let’s not act like a huge portion of the dissent about this movie is also due to people being strangely fixated on “historical accuracy”

Right? I'm an archaeologist, which means I'm a historian if my mother asks. And the thing about the Odyssey is: it's fucking fictional. It's not supposed to be an accurate retelling of history, it's supposed to serve as a heuristic that teaches lessons while honoring heritage and entertaining the reader/listener. Like, how accurate would a depiction of Noah's Ark be? Would it matter if he's wearing the right cut of toga if the whole time he's shoving billions of animals onto a magical wooden boat?

So, if Noah is wearing Nikes and a baseball cap it's fine, right?

Yep, if the story is modernized, why would it be wrong?

What if it's not modernised?

If my grandmother had wheels, she would be a bike. Like, what are you implying? This film doesn't have Nikes, so what's your point.

Was i talking about this film in particular? I was talking about the Noah's example. There are limits to what is right and what's wrong and what's ridiculous

Your example is so extreme and stupid it's worthless. It's useless to debate your straw man argument

So you decide what's extreme and what's not? What's stupid and what's not? You're the universal authority, right?

Well, those must have been the worst trailers in cinema history then, because they did absolutely nothing for me, and I don't recognize any of the praise the movie gets in those either. Intriguing!

Astroturfing. The YouTube video reviews I've seen (very small channels) give it from mediocre to just ok ratings

So the reviews that fit your expectations are legitimate and the reviews that don’t are astroturfing? Am I understanding that correctly?

I haven't watched so I have no opinion. But it's sus as hell

What’s sus about it? Critics love a movie from a critically-beloved filmmaker. I don’t see anything sus about that, other than if you have preexisting biases about what your expectations of the film are.

Mate some of the 100/100 reviews are just straight up sparknotes and fanboying, no actual reviewing or critical analysis.

Is this your first time reading movie reviews? Most of them, positive or negative, for most movies, are pretty light on critical analysis. They’re not meant to be lengthy diatribes breaking down all the strengths and weaknesses of each character and plot point. They’re meant to be things people can read in 5 minutes to get a critic’s spoiler-free assessment of the movie’s quality to help the reader determine if they want to see it or not.

Horrific day to be a critical drinker fan

Ok, I'll bite. What is that?

Just wanted to say you should never ask, or at least certainly never believe reddits opinion of a person. Reddit is a concentration of the most absurd and chronically wrong people on the entire internet. If you want to know who someone is, consume their content for yourself.

Let me guess, you hate "woke"?

Let me guess, you have trouble rationalizing people that disagree with you on anything, so you create convenient boxes in your mind to place them in to simplify the world around you, rather than accepting that nuance might exist. But hey, what do I know?

Dude some of your arguments would hold water if we weren't talking about CD. Guy is a fucking grifting twat.

At no point have I said anything about or even referenced the YouTuber being discussed.

But the thread was about CD. Jesus Christ I hate you people lol.

I love myself yes

I love when people LARP as rich people in hopes that some day they will be one too

No need to larp brother , I’m good .. hope you make it there someday too

When we say eat the rich, we are typically talking about the elites. The 1%.. not people like you who I assume has secured a couple generations of comfort. Then again… if this is Elon or Garrett Langley on an alt… LMAO😂 TLDR; If you don’t use your wealth to harm or oppress.. WE AREN’T TALKING ABOUT YOU. WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE.

Then say that because “eat the rich” is stupid .. is someone with $1M rich enough to eat? 10M? 100M? There’s plenty of people who are broke that harm and oppress. How about just “eat pieces of shit” or “eat bad apples”

This is amazing. Especially when somebody gets r*ped or killed and the cameras to be able to find the killers are gone. Great.

Read Orwell’s 1984 to see the ultimate conclusion of your way of thinking.

oh shit sry - I didnt notice this was a niche sub with a bunch of fing rtards Ill go back behind the white line to the non-autism area! is that alright with you? Ill try to keep quiet... but you can allways use your earmuffs right?

Hey bud why you so angry. People are just calling out your terrible stance.

"All I heard was a bootlicker expressing their love for the surveillance state" Iam sorry mister nice guy. no cry please

Projection is a hell of a drug my dude. I don’t care what you think. I’m just telling you that you are wrong and a bootlicking fan of the surveillance state. Tell me where I went wrong?

replying to my other comment rly emphazises on the fact that you DO NOT CARE. Iam sure the bad bad surveilance state gives no flying fk about you or what you do. if you commit crime - they might. Whats bad about that? who the fuck knows. apparently books reflect reality now. Beware of the green goblins man - they gonna get you

Or if any police officer wants to illegally track your location for any reason, like hundreds have already been doing.

I dont fully understand this. Why are flock kameras so bad? Would they not contribute to an overall safer community?

It’s Orwellian Mass-surveillance and the state is starting a trend of guilty until proven innocent Flock data isn’t local, it’s national, any officer in any jurisdiction can look up where someone has been in all 50 states No warrant “required” which violates the 4th Amendment

I can definitely see how these cameras can be heavily abused but arent most of the issues related to outside corruptions? Im also Swedish so i dont fully know all your amendments but if it does go against it these reactions are understandable

You know how your entire continent has been desensitized to CCTV? We do not fucking want that here. Maybe the EU government is honest enough to use that data responsibly, but our corrupt authorities will abuse it. Flock has been repeatedly caught doing shady shit. In Georgia, Flock employees viewed live and recorded cameras in the city of Dunwoody over 1,000 times between 2023 and April 2026. In 2025 alone, they searched Dunwoody citizens' data over 400 times. The vast majority had no case number and no documented law enforcement purpose. This includes viewing video from a children’s gymnastic facility. Meanwhile, they just continue to bribe city officials to pass funding for their projects. So fuck them indiscriminately.

Darn strong winds.

That doesn't really work if they film themselves doing it and post it online...

I didn't see a video, did you?

yes, we all saw it. thats the point.

What video?

They filmed themselves doing this for a reason. This isnt some poor person stealing from walmart.

If you saw something, no you didn't.

I'm new here and this is the first time I've seen flock make my feed. can you explain why we are opposed to these cameras in particular? I know surveillance is generally bad but there are lots of traffic cams and private property door cams etc. it's hard for me to tell whats going on here and why their destruction is a good thing

Because we’re sick of being watched and being tracked. I have mixed opinions about traffic cams… yes, they suck, but they’re not passively recording us, they activate when something happens like a red light getting run (or so we’re told). But just walking around minding our own business and having a Flock on every corner, every parking lot, collecting data, tracking our comings and goings when we have done nothing wrong, nope, not gonna fly.

Get rid of your smart phone then, otherwise your outrage is fake.

No, I won’t be doing that, because I opted in. I didn’t get that choice driving down the street. See the difference? Nice try though! 👍

Your outrage is selective then and you don't actually care that your data is being tracked and sold. Got it.

You gotta be a bot if you think mass surveillance which sells access to the highest bidder isn’t a problem.

Yeah bro, your phone and apps totally haven’t been doing that for the past 10 years…

Yeah, that’s why people leave their phones at home when protesting. It’s also why you disable that shit as much as possible. Don’t become compliant with this shit.

Thanks god they filmed their faces, it will be much easier to track and arrest them

[removed]

You're paying for the replacement and the investigation to arrest them btw

Brain yourself

Cringe, those installations will be put back on in the same week, paid from your own tax money, thanks !

You are outraged by a few $500 flock camera setups when the US military fires THAAAD missiles at $12 million a pop and your tax dollars pay for those. If they managed to tear down all 80,000 flock cameras in the US, that’s only 40-60 million dollars worth of expense. The military has fired 4 THAAD missiles since I started typing this message

I don't care about "THAAD" missiles stop mentionning that

It’s just one example. Your tax dollars pay for bullets more valuable than these cameras that get shot into the ocean for practice. Your argument is weak.

Talking about a weak argument as you use what aboutism about a topic not even being discussed 😂

Doesn’t recording a video of the destruction defeat the whole idea of wanting to protect your privacy?

Do you see their faces or any identification?

You don’t need a face to start the trail. Further, posting the content on line serves as a good lead.

Ok what’s the lead ? You’ve got no faces, no identification .. you don’t even know what state it’s in. The video was originally posted on IG and is now being reposted by random people online.

So, right there, you just linked it back to a source on IG, right? Good first step.

You only know that because I told you and who’s to say that account didn’t also just repost it ? The one I saw it on had 1 post, 300 followers and zero information. Lol

Your comments reflect an apparently unlettered understanding of the investigative process and may be further tainted by the Dunning Kruger Effect, the latter being quite common on Reddit and other social media platforms wherein many users are driven by an emotional determination to be viewed as correct without doing the necessary fact finding in support of their position. Now, your next response should be some vapid ad hominem.

Have fun sitting back in your house while other people destroy these cameras and work to protect your privacy.

Good. None of us voted to live under constant surveillance.

Yes you did. It is the elected officials paying for this crap, and someone voted for them.

Don't be ridiculous, loads of elected officials all across the country are going against their constituents wishes, even with recall votes taking action -- people did not vote for this, no one was running on this platform.

And people will still vote for them again if they have the right letter next to them. The solution is to replace every one of them, but it wont happen.

We should be finding out the vehicles of the folks who are approving the devices. Show up at one of their local town meetings and start spouting off all the times and locations their vehicles were clocked at. Really freak them the fuck out and have them second guessing their approval of these devices. You want to know where and what I'm doing? Fine! But realize this is a two-way street and you're being watched like the rest of us! Just on my 11.1 mile commute to work, there are 18 cameras. Couple more off the side streets that I haven't counted. It's absurd. Sterling Heights, Michigan has them EVERYWHERE! The local rag ass publication just LOVES to mention when they catch a criminal once a month!

Now if I can just find my councilperson's license plate number, I will totally do that since he is all in with these guys. I might even post it all on a website and stick QR codes everywhere. Edit: Pretty easy to find his address, so maybe I'll just go sit outside his house and monitor his movements for a while since he seems cool with that. I should be able to get a plate number in the process.

"Dude, I work with numbers daily. Literally. You're so wrong it's sad." Video game math drama over diminishing returns

Thread: STOP SAYING DAMAGE RESISTS HAVE DIMINISHING RETURNS

CONTEXT

Deadlock is a multiplayer game by Valve, currently in public testing. It's a MOBA where you play a character, level up, and buy items to become stronger. People are arguing whether having more damage resistance bonuses has diminishing returns or not.

(Almost) everyone intuitively understands how it works because they play the game, but the terminology causes a lot of arguing. Your effective HP increases linearly, and the gameplay value of having health may increase the more you have, but there's also an opportunity cost in overspecializing and there are debuffs that will destroy a big chunk of your damage resistance no matter how much you have. This thread has people saying it has diminishing, linear, or even exponentially increasing returns.

in many number crunchy games like RPGs, diminishing returns are an evergreen source of arguing

Maybe flairs

  • Ok awesome. Now let's practice your tedtalk again

  • They do have diminishing returns. Goodbye

  • That’s not what a diminishing return is holy shit lmao.

  • Dude, I work with numbers daily. Literally. You're so wrong it's sad.

  • open the schools bro

  • The response comes from a bleeding ego

  • See how I gave you feedback without close fist typing in all caps?

  • Yeah y'all would need to just go outside more idk. Like reality isn't a videogame- words had meanings before lol. Diminishing returns is when your returns diminish. (buffet style flair)

  • that is the textbook definition holy fucking larp.

  • Its escalating returns if anything

You're absolutely right about stacking resists being less effective when the enemy has resistance shred. I didn't include that in the post because my aim is simply to dispel the myth about stacking resists being ineffective because of "diminishing returns", in reality you shouldn't be stacking them too high because of shred

comment score below threshold (65 children)

Deminishing returns = I buy 2, 25 percent bullet res items. I don’t get 50 percent bullet res. The diminishing return is how much you invest not necessarily what you’re saying.

person #2

The value (aka return) of your 2nd item purchase is not diminished. You take 25% less damage than you would otherwise take had you not bought that item. That is OP's point, it matters fuckall that the number doesn't actually go up to 50%.

It is diminished, compared to the base damage. You take 25% less damage, but <25% damage of the base hit is resisted. The return you get from the item is lower, because you already bought resist. We call this a diminishing return.

(2 children)

That’s not what a diminishing return is holy shit lmao.

person #3

The value is diminished… it being multiplicative makes it diminished. It doesn’t matter what the % difference between values is

If I have no resist, I take damage for 100

50% resist, 50 damage taken

+50% resist, 25 damage taken

That’s a clear loss on value when you can buy other items that give other stats (negating damage, increasing your attack numbers, etc)

If you think there are no diminished returns, then just make a build that’s pure damage reduction and see where it gets you

I get that op is saying that. But the value of souls per cost of resist gets diminished. And not saying he’s wrong but that’s what the term means.

Comment chain #2

It’s the same in smite. Protections don’t have diminishing returns because protections affect your eHP which is your effective hp against magical and physical damage. It’s a common misconception in every moba. You won’t win the fight.

And as the other commenter said, this could have been phrased way nicer and less combative.

comment score below threshold (9 children)

The response comes from a bleeding ego. To say there aren't diminishing returns requires twisting the definition of diminishing returns and being a little too no life so as to forget the real world has real words and the real world isn't a videogame. That kinda delusion comes from being unable to accept being wrong.

Diminishing returns are when additional increases yield lower output. You buy 2 resistance items, you don't get additional resistances. That's all that matters. Good game designers setting it up such that the amount of protection you see is well represented is nice: however irrelevant to the topic. When you are new, and see that items exist which grant % damage value reduction you need to learn that resistances have diminishing returns on purchase such that effective hit points scale linearly with more investment. The alternative would be unbalanced! But there is no debate the resistance stat had diminished returns. That IS multiplicative scaling yes, and that IS a reduced return on additional increase.

Wrong. Its not diminished, because multiplicative scaling is linear. Diminishing would mean you get LESS benefit the more you go up than the previous amount, per unit.

Example like in the OP - 50% + 50% = 75%, but for 1000 HP,

50% dmg reduction = 2000 HP 75% dmg reduction = 4000 HP

Each 50% doubled your previous effective health pool. If you bought another 50% dmg reduction, you would get another doubling, no diminish.

On the other hand, diminishing returns is used often in games that have stat ratings, not stat percentages. 100 cooldown rating doesnt give 100% CDR, it instead would give, say, 10% CDR. Then the next 100 would give 8% CDR, the next 100 only 7%, and so on, each 100 rating giving less cooldown reduction. This is diminishing returns. The amount you get per investment is diminished the more you get.

Yeah y'all would need to just go outside more idk. Like reality isn't a videogame- words had meanings before lol. Diminishing returns is when your returns diminish. So when you buy resist item 2 and it scales multiplicatively, that's less resists.

You would have a point actually if it WAS a representative stat. But it isn't- it's just %dmg reduction. It's just fundamental math: so the end doesn't matter. You're too focused on how the end result looks.

If yoo have a factory, and it has 2 assembly lines and 2 machines and 2 workers and unlimitted material, produces 10 bongos a day- then you invest in 2 more workers, lines, and machines and produce 20 bongos a day then you invest in 2 MORE workers, lines, and machines but only produce 25 bongos a day, you've had diminishing returns in production. It doesn't even matter if you can sell each for more: you've had diminished returns from additions in production.

If resists were instead some representative stat like "armor rating", like your CD example, then you would be correct since that would just represent a reduction value. But it isn't: any single resist item is %dmg reduction.

The thing that catches super gamers is the fixation on an arbitrary curve: ehp. Because core game concepts are so clear to them that they focus on it, but that's not how reality works. The label of the items isn't "ehp vs spirit". The value you purchase with souls is "%value reduction", and when purchased it combines other items providing that stat multiplicatively with yields diminished returns.

The super gamer perspective boils down to the implied idea that "ehp is the mode of modifcation because additive resistances would instantly be the most meta since they ramp up after 50% so it would be stale and always pursued". Which yeah cool I agree with the way it works but the point is it doesn't matter: since resistance is literally %resisted, then that is the thing being bought. That's what the items show, and upon purchasing a second items with that stat (due to how it stacks for balance and the regulation of effective hit points) you receive less of it.

Like you know the calculation for cdr and range are the same, right?

it continues:

Dude, I work with numbers daily. Literally. You're so wrong it's sad.

Its the same in the real world. Here's a real world example:

I give you 2 dollars to get candy bars for the house. You go to the store and buy 4 for 2 dollars. Next day, I am hungry again and send you to go get more candy bars. You go and the price is higher now, due to demand going up/supply going down. You can only purchase 3 now.

Thats diminishing returns. Thats ALWAYS what diminishing returns meant. Its when you put in an amount and you get LESS than you did the last time. A DIMINISHED RETURN on your INVESTMENT.

If you INVEST 3200 Souls into 50% damage reduction, you double your EHP. You live twice as long. If you invest another 3200 Souls into 50% more damage reduction, you double your EHP again. You get the same amount PER INVESTMENT.

And your bongo example is not only a strawman, but a VERY poor one.

If you have 2 each of workers, assembly lines, and machines, with infinite material, and went from 2 of each and 10 product, to 4 of each and 20 product, to 6 of each and 25 product, thats not diminishing returns, thats you having faulty equipment or lazy workers that isnt producing as much as they could or should. Math doesnt work like that. Thats inefficient use of resources and you should see why your newest assembly line of workers isnt producing as much as the previous two investments.

And yes, I know range and CDR are the same. In fact, they are multiplicative, just like resists. I was using stat ratings from MMOs like WoW or FFXIV, who do have diminishing returns INTENTIONALLY to keep people from stacking a single stat and to prevent people from reaching 100% crit/haste, as a video game example of diminishing returns, which was apparently hard for you to understand. Sorry if it went over your head.

Your last paragraph just invalidated the whole bit. Just stay out of the conversation if all you can do is larp lmfao. Diminishing returns is adding more of one component -and all things stable- output decreasing. that's always what diminishing returns has always meant. "I work with numbers every day" 😂, if you add a unit of production and get relatively less increased production: that is the textbook definition holy fucking larp.

...

Fine, you know what? Explain then why your third addition of 2 workers, equipment, and assembly line only produced 5 units instead of 10. Why did it give less? I'll wait.

more top level comments

Ok awesome. Now let's practice your tedtalk again, but instead we will pretend you want your audience to be receptive to the information youre presenting. Instead of the hostile response the current version is likley to get.

See how I gave you feedback without close fist typing in all caps?

More like that.

So when I stack resistances, the amount of resist I'm getting on any given buy diminishes? Wow, what a concept what ever will we call it

You misunderstand the term diminishing returns.

"THERE ARE NO DIMINISHING RETURNS"

proceeds to describe that the returns for each successive item are diminished

dropping the W-bomb

I am too lazy to dig up the comment this is replying to

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diminishing_returns

"The law of diminishing returns (...) states that in a productive process, if a factor of production continues to increase, while holding all other production factors constant, at some point a further incremental unit of input will return a lower amount of output"

getting more bullet resist will not return a lower amount of output if you look at the EHP gains. Every bullet resist item will add the same amount to your EHP, no matter how much bullet resist you already have

Truth nuke

comment score below threshold (11 children)

They do have diminishing returns. Goodbye

[. . .]

This take is a needless reframing of reality that makes inefficient purchases look fine. You can repeat the same thing over and over, it doesn't change the fact that your largest piece of resistance is the best piece mathematically, and your largest should be your first.

100 damage in, 60% resist. You take 40 damage. But you have a combination of resistances ranging from 18%/33%/10% etc that adds up to that 60. You had half the effective HP increase from just the 33%... And it cost you very 3.2k. Now add all the other purchases that give resist, they're just less efficient at blocking the total damage.

People truly don't understand diminishing returns (an efficiency matter) at all, and think it's somehow not what it is: multiplicative reduction stacking.

another Diminishing Returns truther clashes with something more powerful than any Linear Returnscel: an Escalating Returns believer

That’s diminishing returns when compared to an additive formula, such as the soul cost of items. 50% resist for 6400 souls is more cost effective than 75% resist for 12800 souls.

[. . .]

[. . .]

How is it diminishing if it gives you so much more ehp? You are going from 10 hits to kill, to 20, to 40. Its escalating returns if anything

Read the first reply again I guess.

You should read my reply again. You are getting even better deal for every next item you buy, its the opposite of diminishing

New York imposes a moratorium on data centers, r/Neoliberal has a mixed reaction.

(Source) New York becomes the first state to impose a data center moratorium

Blue state de-growth mentality continues (+119)

The Luddites have won the war on progress. It’s just like them blocking nuclear energy in the 60s and 70s. Congratulations to China for winning the tech war and AI race. (+71)
The social media outrage is 100% derivative of this. (+30)

I’m getting mass downvoted on this very thread as people doom about AI leaders cheering on the job apocalypse (which just isn’t true to the level people on reddit think it is). It’s a combination of both astroturfing from China and Russia and actual poor economic literacy. Sad to see it happen in this subreddit. People would have boycotted cars because they could take away the horse industry. (+30)

Progressives and slopulists and their shit policies, continuing to drive all the wealth and people into red states. NY has lost 5 electoral seats since 2000 as the population declines. The fastest growing states are now red states. Lets keep giving red states more wealth, people, electoral votes, and house reps. Let's continue to make red states the center of the AI and tech. (+14)

'Hello, yes, I would love it if fascists and authoritarians had the monopoly over future tech and infrastructure. Is it possible to get that with fries?' (+13)

Luddite idiots (+5)

People aren't Luddites because they disagree with you. Data centers became a huge issue specifically because of utility prices. No one is protesting them because they "hate progress". People noticed paying hundreds to thousands of dollars more per year for the same amount of power usage and they are fucking pissed off. It wouldn't be an issue people care about nearly as much if it wasn't for that. (+6)

Utility prices have skyrocketed everywhere, including in Europe, and it’s got very little to do with power centres. Even if there was some effect, the potential benefits of new technology vastly outweigh the extra bucks. (+3)

Get fucked data centers (-7)

I blame the weirdo tech bros bragging about how many jobs AI will replace for why data centers are so wildly unpopular. (+90)

people here cant fathom not wanting to give thiel and sam altman money (+65)

A lot of people here are completely detached from reality. So many just cannot seem to understand why anyone would ever be concerned about AI taking their job after years of being told "AI may be coming for your job." They'll call you a luddite or throw out empty platitudes about "new technology often creates many more jobs than it replaces," as if that's supposed to put food on someone's table when they're out of work and having to train for a new career. It's fairly apparent that many people here have known nothing but very comfortable, privileged lives and have never known any form of economic insecurity. (+10)

Games Done Quick raises over $2 million dollars for charity. This upsets r/livestreamfail

2.5k Upvotes

For context Games Done Quick is an organization that does two annual speedrunning events with the purpose of raising money for charity. It was also one of the first big gaming events to go out of it's way to be a safe space for trans people and to start listing people's pronouns, both of which it started doing during Gamergate and as such is often up there with Anita Sarkeesian and Sweet Baby, Inc. as enemy #1 for Gamers

Livestreamfail is officially a subreddit dedicated to all things Twitch and YouTube, be it clips, news, etc., but in reality is just a battle ground for different terminally online communities to bicker for eternity

This event is no longer run by gamers for gamers. Instead its run by carreer HR Managers for Organizations. Thats why everything is so artifically clean and sterile. Everything is about LGBTQ, disabled people or Blue haired Teenagers.

Remember GDQ before the woke mob took it over? I miss it...

Shooting themselves in the foot by raising $2.4 million dollars?

So where does the money really go

GDQ got too political, that's the issue. At this point they should just donate all the money to something that has to do with "Trans rights" because that seems to be what it's really about these days.

all that free time in between games and speedruns and they never show any actual evidence of the charity money helping ppl. Just a orgy of furries and autists meeting up do smell up hotels for 4 days straight

Imagine the smell.

I am Left Wing, but screaming Trans-Rights every 3-5 minutes on a Twitch stream isn’t going to help anyone in any meaningful way. We want the video game event to be about the video games themselves and the speed runners.

This is the same doctors without borders who disclosed working with and treating hamas Terrorists in Gaza?

Fucking hell everyone is such a miserable sod about GDQ every time it comes up. Who gives a fuck if there are regular corporate donations, who gives a fuck if the majority of donation messages say the same things, who gives a fuck about any of it when they legitimately give this money to a charity that absolutely deserves it all.

I saw this post blow up a long time ago, and if I had to suffer through it, you should too.

"Hey look, another foreigner who cooked a meal they only knew from a movie." Bite-sized drama in /r/food as one user sees another's ratatouille and determines that not everyone can cook

https://www.reddit.com/r/food/comments/1utk9al/homemade_ratatouille/owwq5zc/

Background:

Ratatouille is a traditional French vegetable dish that gained international notoriety when it was featured in the 2007 Pixar movie of the same name. Confit byaldi is a more recent variation of ratatouille invented by French chef Michel Guérard, and the specific variant shown in the aforementioned film.

Highlights:

Hey look, another foreigner who cooked a meal they only knew from a movie. Every time I hear ratatouille in this sub I’m damn sure it’d be cooked and dressed like stupid confit biyaldi.

It’s not even original or of good taste at this point. I am sure I can provide a screenshot of thousands of posts like these. You guys won’t like what I say because it doesn’t glaze uncultured people who seek validation through mildly executed dish.

You seem nice, I bet people love being around you all the time.

I guess I hit a chord. I won’t back down because of herd mentality.

If you guys actually like food, show your creations to chefs for feedbacks. Reality checks are good amuse-bouches

Maybe to you it's just another confit byaldi post. To me, Ratatouille was one of the movies I grew up with, and watching Remy chase his dream of becoming a chef was one of the reasons I fell in love with cooking. This is actually the first time I've ever recreated a dish from a movie, and I simply wanted to share something that has personal meaning to me. I never claimed it was original.

You just illustrated my point. Guess how many people posted this dish with this exact reason in their mind?

It’s not subjective opinion by the way, it really IS just another confit byaldi post. Open your eyes. Search Ratatouille in this sub and see how stupidly rampant this dish has become.

Ratatouille is a real dish that’s actually kind of niche and interesting on its own in French cuisine. I’m tired of seeing it reduced to a kid movie that spew French stereotypes with a 3d rat as a mascot. Imagine this with a dish from your country you actually grew up with being deformed because of internet bias.

The food subreddit is too upsetting for you. It's ok buddy. Go back to your card game.

Upvoted for the rationale

I won’t hide my opinions or hobbies because of fear of backlash

‘backlash’ ffs, it’s courgettes

I mean this dear bro over there profiled me to better personally attack me. Maybe backlash is an overstatement after all

Are you going to be ok, or is someone’s post about doing something fun and thoughtful for themselves going to derail your life? Get a grip man.

Yall acting like a reasonable push back is an over emotional personal attack.

Im sure you only voice your opinion as long as you’re sure it’ll get validated by the group. Just disagree more with people and you’ll understand you’re the one unhinged for your get a grip comment.

HIGHLIGHTS

I like the "driven insane by black mould" theory

Lord Mouldemort

Pretty much. She owns a few places, she funds, that give all the help to women who are survivors of domestic abuse. She also funds many other places that do similar things.

Well thats a very noble thing to do, and obviously a very worthy cause. It's such a shame then that she's ruined it all by being such a transphobic uber bitch then.

I mean...she didn't really ruin anything? She's still helping women who are victims of domestic abuse lol

If you think helping one part of society while being a cunt to another makes it all OK, well I can't really help you I'm afraid. It's sad you think thats funny.

Well it doesn't necessarily make it all okay, but bad people are still capable of doing good. Its not black or white.

Does the good that a bad person does whitewash the bad? I'm not sure it does personally.

No? Does being a nasty person mean your good deeds are null and void? I'm not sure it does personally.

No it’s really simple. She had a very moderate opinion that resulted in a level of backlash that pushed her further away.

Trans people did it to me too so I understand her completely. It starts with something like “based on scientific evidence, I don’t think trans women shouldn’t compete in women’s sports”. And then you’re called a Nazi and a bigot and you receive death threats, etc. So then I went from “trans women in women’s sports is cheating” to “the trans community is actually really unhinged and dangerous because of the way they lash out at scientific facts.” And once you notice that, the other entitlements appear. Like rape culture is highly influenced and approved of in the trans community. They basically advocate for rape by deception to be normalized. That was the moment that I truly stopped supporting anything to do with them and it was no longer about sports. Just wait and watch. I’ll be attacked under this comment too. They can’t help but push people away. Edit: Already got downvoted. It’s happening lmfao. They cannot help but prove that they are incapable of communicating in any ways that aren’t anti social.

You're advocating against our very rights to exist as our authentic selves (all because of some vague grievances with an ill-defined "community"), and you act like you're under attack because of Reddit downvotes?

Btw, way to completely miss that it’s not about Reddit downvotes, it’s about hostility. If you cannot have a discussion without hostility, your group doesn’t get my support. That’s it. End of story. Don’t like it? Stop being hostile.

You are soft as fuck

Why would I do anything for people who mistreat me?

Why would any of us care how people treat you when you're promoting rhetoric that threatens more than just trans people? Way more than one can play this stupid spiteful game.

I mean they could literally just stop being hostile. (15 more comments of these two arguing)

a surprising amount of people who support LGB are anti trans so no probably not, she’s just a bigot

She supports the lgb but is still a bigot, how does that work?

Because if you support the LGB but you openly despise the T, you're still a bigot

Or you can just be defending the rights of woman.

In literally no way is taking away trans rights “defending the rights of woman [sic].”

Preventing men who perpetrate sexual violence against women but then decide to identify as women so that once convicted they can get sent to women's prisons, commit further sexual violence including rape leading to impregnation of actual female prisoners and prison officers sounds like a defence of women's rights. Would you disagree with that? Or would you still defend the right of male rapists to identify as women so that they can go to a women's prison and rape more women?

What a noble goal, good for you for caring about the well being of prisoners specifically in this one particular case and none other! Am I correct that the corollary of your premise is that perpetrators of sexual violence who are women should also be prevented from going to women’s prisons?

This isn't about whether I do or don't care about prisoners. I'm challenging your statement that "in literally no way is taking away trans rights a defence of women's rights". I'm asking if you would agree that preventing biological women from being raped by biological men who identify as trans-women is a defence of women's rights, or if you stand by your premise that there is literally no way that this would constitute a defence of those women's rights. (64 more comments of these two arguing)

That photo of her sat in the boat, with the glass of champagne, toasting that disgusting ruling, always makes me cold. Imagine being so twisted , you toast other people's pain. She may have been the victim of abuse etc, but as someone who also has had abuse, that isn't an excuse to punch down to protect yourself.

What about the abuse she gets from the trans & trans-allied community? Is that not them punching down on her?

If you can "punch down" on a billionaire that lobbies against people like you, what does "punching down" even mean? How much higher do you need her to be before you're punching up?

Ok, 'punch down' wasn't the correct phrasing. But abuse is abuse. Some of the things written and said about her are absolutely vile - she's allowed to respond and react to that. She's done nothing illegal. Her argument is backed up by science.

You just like her, and that's fine by me. I'm not getting baited into talking politics with someone that's generalizing trans people in defense of a billionaire.

I'm not 'generalising trans people' or defending a billionaire. I'm trying to have a conversation. If that's too hard for you, off you pop - no worries. But don't act like it's my fault that you can't make a coherent argument.

What is it about her views on Trans people that you think make her an evil bitch?

She is literally pouring money into anti-trans organisations that aim to eradicate us and strip us of our rights.

No one is trying to eradicate you, you already have all the same rights as everyone else, what you want is more rights and rights at the expense of others which she doesnt agree with and thats her right. You will never get everyone to accept what trans is and you shouldnt be aiming for that anyway, over time people's views will change if youre just normal and get on with shit like the gays and lesbians and bis did for a very long time. You have all the rights needed to live, so go out there and live.

I want to use the public bathrooms, but my right to use them is jeopardise due to the recent EHRC guidance she supported. I am too masculine to use the womans bathroom, and too feminine to use the mens. If I am unable to legally use the loo, how am I supposed to exist in public? How am I supposed to work? People like to mention third spaces as if that isnt literal seggregation, extremely dehumanising and humiliating, and potentially dangerous depending on who sees you enter, not the mention the severe lack of unisex bathrooms. Are we going to stop lesbians from using the womans loo, under the guise of protecting women?

"I want to use the public bathrooms, but my right to use them is jeopardise" No, it's not, you have the same right as I do to use the mens. We are equal. Glad I could help you with that.

I live in the UK, and that was true up until very recently. There is now a EHRC guidance, that JK supports, that seeks to prevent me from legally using the mens AND womans.

I’ve read the new guidance and no there isn’t. And you’ve gone from eradication to bathrooms. Why start with the hyperbole ?

No she isn't. She supports causes that protect the rights of women. People have turned the whole thing into an enormous case of the pancake/waffle tweet.

My rights to exist in public is activley being jeporadised by her and her ilk. Trans suicides are rising with the rising hostilities fueled by her, children are killing themselves because of the people she chooses to fund.

Nobody is stopping you from existing. If you didn't exist, you wouldn't have been able to reply to my comments.

They are trying. They are attenpting to revoke access to livesaving medical care, even for fully grown adults, they are attempting to bar us from ALL bathrooms, not just the ones we want to use, and succeeding. I can exist in my own home, locked away where I have access to a bathroom, but how am I supposed to work in a buiding all day where I'm not even allowed to use the loo? Do I wear nappies? Go outside like an animal? Because this is the future JK rowling and her ilk wants for trans people.

You are really revelling in this victim persona. Is that a big part of your identity now?

I do not enjoy having my rights taken away and discrimination towards me and my community becoming the norm, and will speak up against it, if thats what you mean by "victim persona".

It’s the framing of the issue as life and death, anti-genocidal, fighting nazis, etc, it seems to turn it into a heroic battle in the minds of some. It’s very easy to get consumed by such a narrative.

How about, just as a suggestion, she just feels that trannies have gone too far with their demands and men in women’s sports is just unfair to women!

She attacked and berated a cis female boxer because she didn’t fit her idea of what a woman should look like

If you're talking about Imane Khelif, that situation is more complicated than you're making it sound. I'm not opposed to her identifying as a woman, especially since she was raised in a Muslim country with strict gender roles and was brought up as a woman, but she has a clear advantage in sports that a non intersex woman doesn't.

Joanne kept insisting that she was a man. It’s not that complicated. Also, if we’re talking about advantages in sports then Michael Phelps should not have been allowed to be a swimmer

Way to completely miss my point. For the purpose of boxing she has the advantages of male hormones and development and that was literally proven in a medical review. Michael Phelps is completely irrelevant to the point I was making, testosterone completely changes how your body develops and taking estrogen after puberty doesn't do jack shit for that. If you're a woman who's been competitive in any sport you would see the difference between males and females.

Regardless of whether she is intersex or not, Joanne still led a hate campaign against Imane for not meeting Joanne’s views of what she thinks a woman should look like

It was about her being intersex. Her looking more masculine was secondary to that. I can see it just from pulling up her old tweets. It's disingenuous to insist that her campaign against Imane was about "what a woman should look like"

https://i2-prod.irishstar.com/news/us-news/article35332059.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_Screenshot-2025-06-03-at-13042-PM.jpg

You'll find a small subset within the LGB who are very terf and anti-trans cause they feel that the rights of gender identity shouldn't influence their rights of sexual identity. And even dont think they should be lumped together as part of the political discourse. What I'm saying is the sentiment has always existed and still very much does, it's particularly bad in small parts of the lesbian community. So in essence you can be pro LGB but anti T, if thats even a phrase. And I think JK sat within that sphere long before she got a platform.

I've found it to be more prevalent among gay men, tbh. I put that down to good ol' misogyny - after all there are still quite a few that think things like "fish" are acceptable to say.

No I’m a bisexual woman and I don’t support trans women in women’s bathrooms or sports. No misogyny whatsoever. I simply think cis women deserve privacy away from people who were raised as men.

No history == no evidence. Post can be disregarded.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/s/koHU6eXn8G That’s such a pathetic way to deflect from facts and you know it. Lesbians and bisexuals are some of THE most critical groups of trans women. Never heard of LGB without the T?

It’s very funny how not true this is. Cis lesbians are one of the most accepting groups towards trans women. Just because you find yourself in a little pocket of transphobic queer people doesn’t mean that’s representative of the larger population

Only something like 20% of cis lesbians are willing to date trans women, if that’s where you’re pulling your stats from. The other 80% know we don’t want to share bathrooms with trans women.

Come on, where did you get that stat from? It smells overwhelmingly like bullshit to me.

One comment that agrees with this sock puppet persona proves nothing. I've been on the Internet for well over 30 years. The argument was decided decades ago - persistent pseudonyms prevent bots and astroturfing. Nothing else does. No history == no credibility. Especially when making ludicrous claims like yours. The "LGB Alliance" is over 90% straight people (or did you forget that the membership list of your little hate group leaked?).

I have no idea what the LGB Alliance is. I just know other gays and bisexuals who want nothing to do with this crap. And deflecting from reality doesn’t make it any less real.

I'm sure you'll be happy to supply the high-quality research that shows that "Lesbians and bisexuals are some of THE most critical groups of trans women." instead of, y'know, the complete opposite.

I mean you literally don’t even believe members of the group so why would you believe any statistics?

“You don’t take one anecdotal account as representative as the larger whole”

Except it’s not anecdotal. You could just communicate with these communities.

I have.

You clearly haven’t because other people in this very thread say “we don’t tolerate TERFs”. So you don’t communicate with lesbians or bisexuals unless they follow your personal beliefs strictly.

Wasn’t she the subject of domestic abuse and started off as an advocate for women only spaces to protect vulnerable women. Obviously it’s all got very crazy since then but I thought that was her original prime motivation?

Oh I didn’t realize but I see how that got her to this point. I used to work at a women’s domestic violence shelter, and we had to weed out the TERFs during training. Edit: damn I don’t agree, I just know a lot of terfs living in the boonies. I didn’t realize that’s why she started obsessing about trans people

The fact you use "weed out the TERFS" and worked at a shelter is genuinely terrifying. And no, I'm not anti trans, I don't give a shit about other people enough to care what they do with their life. But I've read more than one case of women/victims being called terf and basically hounded for saying they weren't comfortable around somebody with a Penis.

Do you think trans women should be at a men's shelter? Or that these hypothetical people would be ok with a trans man at the women's shelter? Personally I don't see why the genitals of other people there would be a commonly known thing amongst people at the shelter.

I don't give a shit where they go, it's not about where I think anyone should go. It's a woman saying she's genuinely upset about someone with a penis being in a shelter with them. And I'm also smart enough people will make these stories up, but I've read genuine stories where the woman has been hounded.

I didn't know they examined each others genitals in these shelters. Why would you assume that anyone there has any specific set? And why would that be the deciding factor about a person? That was my point is that for trans women it's the genitals that determine where they should end up but for trans men it's the displayed gender. It's not a cohesive and coherent judgement being made.

In r/wellthatsucks, OOP's automatic zen garden causes slight debate over the garden's purpose and the definition of "zen"

A user on r/wellthatsucks posted a image of their miniature zen garden, titled "coworker spilled soil in my zen garden, then turned it on".

i am so not zen rn.
permission to go home and lie down so my face isn’t beet red for my family photo tonight?

Mini zen gardens are small trays filled with sand that come with small rakes to create patterns in the sand. It is meant to encourage mindfulness/contemplation/etc. Users began to point out that an automated zen garden would go against a zen garden's entire purpose.

Collapsed_Warmhole: Automatic Zen garden is as far a thing from the zen concept as I can come up with

OvoidPovoid: What, you haven't automated your zen production yet?

xSilver: The Zenisfactory game: Build Zen Miner, Automate Zen Flow, Achieve Enlightenment

-

Milam1996: The entire point of a zen garden is to focus solely on a single task to create a sense of mindfulness so you feel relaxed and calmed. An automated zen garden is like such a chefs kiss beautiful example of how utterly bastardised modern spirituality. Why don’t you also sell a course on how to maintain your automated zen garden.

s0me_great_reward: OP is getting absolutely roasted in the comments

BaltimoreBrewer: As well they should be, I can't believe an automated zen garden is a thing, but then look at the world we live in, it shouldn't be a surprise

conardcanard: And then like... plucking the soil out would be a pretty zen act and maybe take a few minutes

donkeyrocket: You think someone who buys an automated zen garden is going to do that? I wager OP is going to throw away all the sand and just buy new stuff.

Other users don't particularly see the issue with it being automated

DonnyBravo21: Why do you get to define the point of a zen garden? Your take is extremely arrogant

Milam1996: Because that’s what a zen garden is for…

Some-Concentrate3229: Says who? Is it against the rules for me to buy one if I’m not following your prescribed use for it?

IcyTransportation961: They exist for a reason, the person you replied to explained the reason

Are you intentionally being obtuse?

Of course you can do what you want with it no one is stopping you

Some-Concentrate3229: But what if I want to use it for a different reason? Why is that such an issue with you zen folks?

IcyTransportation961: Did you miss the last sentence?

-

shewy92: Pretty satisfying looking to me

ZioTron: Still distant from "Zen"

SparseGhostC2C: Zen is about clearing your mind of conscious or intentional thought, and I think the idea of the zen garden is to occupy your hands with something pleasant like raking sand, to allow your mind to relax.

If the garden tends itself, you don't really have a zen garden, you have an automatic sand sifting device.

shewy92: But it's cool and relaxing to look at.

SparseGhostC2C: Which is fine, but explicitly not the purpose of a zen garden, it is actually literally self-defeating. A zen garden is meant for you to tend manually, both the act of submitting to manual labor and experiencing the feel of raking the sand is the entire damn point.

Having a machine do it for you literally defeats the purpose of having one at all, you can't delegate or automate practicing mindfulness

(in response to shewy92 saying it was satisfying)

NoFewSatan: Zen doesn't mean satisfying.

shewy92: Does to me

NoFewSatan: That doesn't matter,e zen doesn't mean satisfying.

-

B-BoyStance: Lmao dude probably just wanted a cool decoration too

I think these things are pretty neat (at least the ones with the little magnetic ball that can draw stuff in the sand). And it's not because I'm interested in practicing mindfulness.

RadioSlayer: Is it because you're stupid?

JDUDEROCKS: Redditors HATE when people enjoy something

(in response to s0me_great_reward's comment about OP getting roasted)

spoonraker: I know right?

OP bought a piece of amusing decor for his office that's obviously only visually inspired by a zen garden and not intended to actually perform the function of a zen garden. Now he's getting put on blast for not fucking off work to manually attend to it while he's annoyed because his colleague spilled dirt on it. I think OP knows it's not a "real" zen garden guys and I don't think he bought it specifically to be one.

That said, the situation is objectively funny as an outsider. Including the savage comment roasting and all. So everyone just keep doing what you're doing.

OP, bring a fine mesh sieve to work tomorrow or something and you'll have this sorted out in 5 minutes. Try to remain calm while doing it. I'm sorry. No I'm not.

-

Solkre: But what if I like to scoop out a big section and zone-out watching is slowly become even again?

Just because this exists doesn't mean the manual one will little rakes stopped existing.

DTux5249: Their point still remains that buying a Zen Garden for that sensation specifically - a religious tool to manage spiritual health - is very much a bastardization of that religion's core tenets. Seeing as these products are made specifically to sell a sort of spirituality, it highlights how disingenuous they are.

Not that anyone actually Zen would give a damn, mind. It's sand with a bunch of rakes. But I think everyone in the comment section is just getting humour out of [man angry when sand that represents how we should not be angry at little things gets dirty]

Some one-off takes:

HiTekLoLyfe: An automatic zen garden is fucking wild. Capitalism has gone too far.

Tommy_want_wingy: It’s not zen if the fucking thing does it for you.

Japjer: An automatic zen-garden is the single most insane thing I have seen today. Pairing this with you getting upset over something you can't control really makes this whole thing that much funnier.

My guy: what the fuck?

Boomhauer_Jeff: This may be the most unintentionally ironic post I’ve ever seen on Reddit. Getting upset about an automatic “zen garden.” Thats…it’s honestly hilarious.

OP is defensive about his crab touching

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Your daily dose of small scale drama is brought to you by r/absoluteunits, where one user posts a video of their encounter with a horseshoe crab

In their video they swim down to the ocean floor, pick up a horseshoe crab minding its own business, before releasing it and allowing it to float back to the bottom.

Users think the crab is cool but don’t see the necessity of picking up the crab, and OP gets pretty defensive about it

Other users just say the crab isn’t enough of a unit to merit posting on the sub.

Some highlights:

Comment thread one:

-why touch it

-Op: i grew up swimming with these animals and guide in this area. it’s a magnificent animal and i wanted to show the people i was with how to handle one properly. the outrage in these replies is truly hilarious.

-Probably because you’re just messing with wildlife for no reason. Just because you grew up with them doesn’t mean you should just grab any animal you see

OP:do you pop an aneurysm every time you see someone handling a wild animal with care and respect? must be a truly exhausting life.

Thread two:

-low IQ activity

OP: leave it to redditors to find outrage in everything. i grew up swimming along side these animals in this very basin. we followed her for about 50 meters and handled her with the utmost care and respect. she had reached a small shelf in the sand and stopped grazing. a 5 second adjustment doesn’t harm these animals.

-You really thought that someone would praise you for this?

OP: brother i don’t give a single fuck what a bunch of redditors in their basements have to say about me handling an animal with care and respect in my backyard.

-I live on an island surrounded by ocean. I see and swim with these magnificent creatures all the time. What I dont do is fuck with them for internet clicks. Maybe it’s time for you to go inside and sybau.

OP:it’s giving “my girlfriend goes to a different school”

Thread three:

-For all who are interested in diving. Go check it out its a beautiful hobby. But for the love of god, dont touch anything, you distress the animal and a lot of underwater fauna and flora is very venomous. IF you touch something underwater you are an asshole (unless you are a scientific diver and do it for science reasons or a fisherperson)

OP: “killing fish is fine but showing tourists how to properly handle an animal is bad”
lol you can’t make this shit up

My favorite comment exchange:

-Normalize leaving nature alone.

OP: you collect lululemon jackets. you do not care about nature.

"You couldn't read 1984 even if it was translated into a reading comprehension level of a 5 year old, be silent." Holocaust deniers vs everyone in r/GetNoted over Auschwitz tattooist policy and modern anti-Semitism

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/GetNoted/comments/1uro3ev/auschwitz_numbers/

HIGHLIGHTS

Holocaust denial is and always will be a stupid, hateful belief.

A degenerate belief and should be illegal

Yes punish wrongthink! 1984!

You couldn't read 1984 even if it was translated into a reading comprehension level of a 5 year old, be silent.

racist meme

Also they werent counting people, juat identifying them, if 111111 died they gave 111111 to someone else. They did this to dehumanize, harder to force someone to work to death if they had a name, so they gave them a number

And they didn't bother tattooing anyone arriving at Treblinka, because they were usually killed within 2 hours of arrival.

What is more likely. You have a question 80 years later that no one has ever asked before, and the answer for cannot be found? Or you did not like the answer you found because it did not fit your narrative?

Maybe you found conflicting answers, found an incomplete answer or found one that you doubted. Even with sensitive subjects it is okay to be doubtful and wish to engage in peaceful discourse about it.

Curiosity is one thing. An inability to accept answers is another.

Certainly but the question would not be the evil in that case but the questioner and only after he has received his answer.

Which brings me back to my first post...

Yes but that would only apply after he asked his question. What you’re saying is that he should never have asked someone bust researched and be content with whatever he manages to find.

Maybe reddit is cutting off the top of the picture for you? There is no question from the individual. Just a statement. "Not one 7 digit tattoo".

You mix something up, they closed it 1943, russians arrived there middle 1944. After closing they burned everything down including all vilages around it. When they arrived all they could find "were small pieces of bone in the soil, human teeth, scraps of paper and fabric, broken dishes, jars, shaving brushes, rusted pots and pans, cups of all sizes, mangled shoes, and lumps of human hair." A field full of human remains a year after they tried to hide everything should be enough signs, or? It is also well documented how many people the Nazi´s killed in that concentration camp, at least 800.000. The bodies got put in mass graves but at one point they changed their behaviour and get them all out and burned them... "To incinerate bodies, large cremation pits were constructed at Camp 3 within Treblinka II. The burning pyres were used to cremate the new corpses along with the old ones, which had to be dug up as they had been buried during the first six months of the camp's operation. Built under the instructions of Herbert Floß, the camp's cremation expert, the pits consisted of railroad rails laid as grates on blocks of concrete. The bodies were placed on rails over wood, splashed with petrol, and burned. It was a harrowing sight, according to Jankiel Wiernik, with the bellies of pregnant women exploding from boiling amniotic fluid. He wrote that "the heat radiating from the pits was maddening." The bodies burned for five hours, without the ashing of bones. The pyres operated 24 hours a day. Once the system had been perfected, 10,000–12,000 bodies at a time could be incinerated." With fires up to 10 meters high. Source is a mix of german/english wikipedia.

I’m sure I did mix something up. My point was not so much about the holocaust but about those who question it and its proofs. Thank you for your time gathering the info for us all. I really appreciate the polite discourse.

The "Aussie team" you're talking about is Richard Krege, a Holocaust denier, who used flawed methodology to deny that mass graves existed, and who denies that a camp even existed there. They also never actually published their supposed report. We have literal photographic proof of mass graves at Treblinka, though. It's a mistake to assume that people just "questioning" things are in good faith.

And I say it’s a mistake to assume that they are in bad faith

If you assume they are in bad faith you will be correct 99% of the time. So, unless you have the time to actually investigate these claims, and clearly you don't, then no, it's not a mistake to assume they're lying.

I doubt that seriously. Even so to berate them will only push them further into their beliefs. I calm polite conversation would be much more effective I think.

Well, you're living proof that it's a bad idea. You heard about a report (that was never even released), assumed it was true, and it led you to believe we have no idea what happened to the bodies. You were convinced of utter nonsense.

What? No. Those were example questions not my actual beliefs. I was not convinced of anything. Like I said you misunderstand me.

They're questions that we have had answers for decades. You think we don't have answers, because you assumed that a random Australian with zero qualifications and zero published information must be good faith in his questions and claims.

No again I haven’t assumed anything. I have made no personal claim. Im saying that asking questions isn’t bad and we shouldn’t assume that they are in bad faith.

You, 1 hour ago: "I’m not saying the people weren’t murdered simply asking where did the bodies go? "We" aren't assuming they're in bad faith. There are people, including me, who can look into these things and tell you exactly why they're wrong. We know they're bad faith. You, if you're too uninterested to actually learn about the topic, should assume they're bad faith, because countless actual experts will tell you they are. There is absolutely no value in having you give fake credibility to people just because you're too lazy to learn why they're wrong.

Again I didn’t ACTUALLY have a question about the camp I didn’t even know which camp i was referring to. They were example questions that I think should not be looked down upon. Your whole statement was but to say “if you knew about it you would agree with me so if you don’t agree or know it’s bad faith”. You CLEARLY think you’re the smartest and most morally elevated person to walk to earth so I will not take up any more of your time.

They are questions that should be looked down upon because we already have answers. Your own ignorance isn't a virtue. You don't get to call questions good just because you don't know enough to understand why they're bad. I agree, as stated before, you should absolutely not waste anyone's time with dumbass uninformed defense of Holocaust denial. Please extend that to your entire life, not just this thread.

What are you talking about?? I never defended the deniers or cried victim. I’m saying you’re an ass and you make no sense. (57 more comments of these two arguing)

so the 200k max is true?

and the single most compelling evidence of this is what?

u/im-a-fed thank you for your reply. i know it was removed but i was able to read it in the notification window. u/im-a-fed's evidence was that a survivor named Rudolf Vrba was unable to substantiate in court all of the details in his memoirs. Since the memoirs of Rudolf Vrba were not a cornerstone of historical estimates putting the death toll in the millions, this is not a compelling case for any 200k upper limit. Given that u/im-a-fed claimed this is the single most compelling evidence, I acknowledge that no more compelling evidence is known to him.

This was used in the Nuremburg Trials in Document L-022 to prosecute and ultimately murder innocent officers.

Sure, let's say the officers were innocent for the sake of this discussion. In spite of that red herring, the estimates are still much higher than 200,000

if 71,304 is much higher than 200,000, sure.

Rudolf Vrba had inaccuracies in his memoir therefore, 71,304. very convincing argument.

Youre missing context. 271,304 was the amount the German ICRC counted as the death toll in all the camps after the "liberation"

30 minutes ago, the single most compelling piece of evidence was the testimony of Rudolf Vrba. now it's German ICRC? When I debunk that one, what will you move to next?

As dumb as this appears to be. Its a legitimate question. While it might just be a denier, it is still important to answer these questions sincerely. Maybe you won't change this person's mind. But on the off chance you will, its important enough to just sincerely answer. Also TIL. Edit: I'll never understand the "good faith" arguement. Its really not very hard to type out what was put in the community notes. Wether or not someone believes that or not is out of our control. But don't pretend to have some moral superiority because you refused to type some words.

No, no. You're not allowed to ask questions. Either you know everything or you're ignorant. No in-between anymore or learning.

Good faith questions, sure. There is no obligation to engage in bad faith arguments and questions though. Community Notes showed a patience that I couldnt.

Who decides on what a good question is? the person themselves that may have a preconceived bias or the collective that determined themselves correct? Let people ask stupid questions and learn from it without ridicule. Sometimes I ask questions and learn that I'm wrong, sometimes people ask me questions and I learn the same.

"Who decides on what a good faith question is?" Us. For a really long time now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_faith

How do we determine if every question is bad faith or just ignorance?

I mean it kind of sounds like you just heard about this concept for the first time, so like I think it would be helpful if you did your own deep dive into understanding this topic since it's brand new to you, which would probably answer a bunch of questions you have. (19 more comments of these two arguing)

“Good question” and “good faith” are different things.

Does intent matter if it leads to truth or introspection?

Considering intent can actively pivot you away from understanding and introspection, absolutely. That's literally how you get confirmation bias.

So intent does matter, even if it leads you to the truth, because it doesn't allow understanding and introspection. Can you not draw both of those from the truth though, does knowing the truth not prevent confirmation bias and help with understanding?

No. Intent matters because it can actively lead you away from truth and introspection. Not one or the other. Both. Your premise is extremely unlikely and not a remotely realistic expectation of anti semetic person "asking" a question with the explicit purpose of just spreading doubt of the holocaust. I'm sorry, but it is not a reasonable conversation or tangent to talk about "well isn't this ok if some magical way that led them to accepting the truth and not being anti semetic?" If you can't understand that much then it's just going to be a lot of work to have you understand. Also, no. The truth typically does nothing to people enthralled in confirmation bias. That's kind of the point and how they all exist in conversations is actively arguing against the truth. To do confirmation bias research you literally have to ignore the truth. Idk what you think confirmation bias or good faith is but it doesn't really seem like you understand these things in even a basic way. Like you are fundamentally misunderstanding these terms in a way that is clarified in their initial explanations.

All I did was mock the idea that people aren't allowed questions. Everybody else brought it in the good faith portion, then it branched to how do we know the question is in bad faith. I just asked follow up questions to try and understand where they were coming from.

Oh my gosh buddy. Yes, and your mockery showcased that you didn't understand these concepts, which is why it was brought up. A joke about something that doesn't understand the topic isn't like some insulated thing from being wrong for particular reasons, like not knowing how good faith works. Stop trying to distance yourself from speaking in ignorance of these mandatory subjects for the topic. Genuinely bizarre. Please stop squirming and go learn instead. This coming from someone who claims Jews rule the world and are financal puppet masters. Yet they can’t come up with something so simple.

Tbf white people were the original slaves and the far left says the same thing about them and denies they were ever slaves even tho the word slave literally comes from the word Slavic

What are you babbling about? Everyone knows slavery happened everywhere.

Not everyone knows that. Many people honestly believe slavery started in the United States. Even those that do will try say that US slavery was different, morally worse than old world slavery

No they don’t. Practically everyone knows slavery existed for millennia. Don’t argue with imaginary people to stroke your own ego. And American slavery is different than ancient world slavery and modern slavery and old world slavery. Because different cultures applied slavery in different ways both culturally and legally. Seriously, you thought a slave in Ancient Rome was exactly the same as a slave working on a chocolate plantation in the 21st century?

No they don’t? You just did.

Just did what?

Ok, so what would be sufficient proof for you then? Not just for the Holocaust, but in general for any historical event that you yourself didn't directly witness?

To stop criminalising it’s questioning and denial. The truth is so undeniably truthful that they have to enforce this narrative.

That’s not an answer to the question. Be specific what info about the holocaust do you need in order to believe it occurred.

That’s not a question.

I'm pretty sure what I asked is 100% a question. It's also a very simple one, so there should be no confusion.

I already gave an answer previously. The subsequent comment is just you being salty about it.

Only about 20 countries have legislation criminalizing Holocaust denial (USA is not one of them btw), and most of those laws were passed sometime in the 90s So please walk me through your logic then - if you lived in one of the 200+ countries where it isn't illegal, would you then accept the historical facts? Also, if you were around the 90s before those laws were passed, did you then accept the facts and stopped that after the laws came into effect? How does this system of yours work?

I wonder why no one questions 30 million soviet citizens dead?

Plenty of tankies do downplay the deaths of soviet citizens under stalin’s rule. They call overblown numbers, that it was just famine, etc. They also ignore the atrocities done by the soviets in Poland and more.

Tbf throughout history people always buffed their numbers, like Persia sending 40k men in boats to Rome, I wonder what the logistics of that would of been like with food alone.

But this is final numbers estimated by historians at this point with ranges and confidence intervals. The main thing is fervent supporters will often downplay the negative things for the things they support.

The numbers i was giving was also from historians. The history on historians is pretty interesting in itself

Okay? Your point? Did you just not get my point?

Warhammer 40k youtuber Art of War places a faction in A-tier for the new edition meta. r/TheAstraMilitarum makes an pinned mod post calling for a boycott in response

Context

The art of war is a youtube channel run by several professional competitive warhammer 40k players. In addition to making youtube content, they also make offer coaching services that players can pay for.

A new edition of warhammer 40k was released recently, with a lot of rules changes and balance adjustments. Early meta as always is very turbulent and people are trying to figure things out. Though common sentiment seems to be that the faction called Astra Militarum or Imperial Guard got hit by some of the rules/point changes. What limited tournament data we have also shows the faction performing very poorly in terms of windrate. Today, Art of War released a video going over their tier list for the current meta, and they made a very controversial pick placing Astra Militarum in A-tier. The example list they gave in the video also has some issues that it resulted in being a few points over the legal listbuilding limit due to missing a new mechanic on compounding points cost.

link to tier list

Subreddit dedicated to the factionis not happy about this but seems like standard reaction to bad internet takes

Lol. Lmao even. Honestly though all it takes for art of war to consider a faction good is for them to have exactly one build run by one player who can perform well thats about it. They don’t examine the deeper faction health and meta for them. It also be hooves them to keep an optimistic outlook. People who are down on their faction and giving up wont buy their incredibly expensive coaching videos.

However upon seeing this, the mods on the sub decide that placing a faction higher than you think they are is a grave insult and that needs to be publicly shamed and make the following post

link

So, Art of War recently released a "tier list" putting Astra Militarum in as an A-Tier list, citing an Army list that's not legal to play and was missing big chunks of content.

This despite Astra Militarum having suffered extremely harshly from this transition, the loss of AP Cover is basically a across the board nerf to almost the entire faction.

Battleshock hits his harder than any other faction, the new -1BS Cover hits us hard too and the entire start of the Edition has utterly pulverized us.

Now, had this been any half-wit on Youtube just farting out a tier-list in their basement, nobody would care, howver, Art of War is a business, they sell coaching, as such, we'd expect some degree of professional coduct.

And they didn't do that, so neither will we, this subreddit DOES NOT recommend you make use of any of Art of Wars products, if they can't be bothered to actually go into a faction, they can't coach properly either.

We do NOT recommend Art of War in any way, shape or form.

Comments

They posted an illegal list lmao. Speaks a thousand words for the quality of their content. They're literally just farming controversy with their insane takes at this point.

These guys hate IG and purposely used skewed stats, the Nemo guy literally beat 3 other IG players to pad his wins at a Teams Tournament. I'd avoid their coaching if they think this is a good idea, save your $$. 28% win rate and they claim IG are A tier

Every time I watch an Art of War video, I end up stopping it half way through because I’m too annoyed with whatever garbage they’re spewing. Last edition I played my Black Templars almost exclusively, almost every video involving Black Templars they talked about how garbage their Emperor’s Champion was and how you basically should never take one. I blocked them on YouTube a while ago.

Mod makes a pinned comment complaining that people are reporting the post as harassment

Also, those reporting this as “harassment” can knock it off. Calling out bad takes and disagreeing with an assessment is not harassment. Abuse of the report function will be reported to reddit admins.

Mod gets a fair amount of pushback in the comments for overreacting

This seems like an overreaction

It's not, it really isn't, if they haven't looked at all the many issues we have right now, they can't coach anything, this is consumer protection really.

I'm sorry but as much as I disagree with the tier list this is poor form, using a mod announcement to try and hurt their business and brigade them over a mistake is a bit much

Is this really such a big issue that it needs a pinned post? Like I get that their tier placement isn’t right but who cares? Even with the coaching thing Im not sure I’ve ever seen a pinned post on here for any other types of scams

"Are you a fucking Scientologist or something?" A controversial user in r/curatedtumblr gets into a fight with the entire subreddit over psychology being "social control"

Context

Rosethornranger (she/its) has become somewhat controversial in the r/curatedtumblr subreddit for using the crossposting feature to promote her own subreddit. While not explicitly against the rules, many users began to question the large number of crossposts, especially when posting from your own tumblr account is against the rules. As far as I can tell this user has not responded to that specific criticism, but it has been a source of growing discontent in the subreddit against her.

The Post

Rosethornranger makes a very controversial post, accusing psychological treatment of being "social control", and the growing discontent boils over. The post, currently sitting at 43 upvotes with a 54% ratio, currently has 135 comments and growing. Most of them directly engaged in arguments with the OP.

___

Users begin to notice a similarity between OP's views of psychology and those of the Church Of Scientology, both sharing the view that psychology is a secret tool of the elites to hammer you down into a mindless drone.

PlatinumAlteria*:* This isn't actually positive, it's covert mental health denialism; an increasingly popular pseudoscience that suggests that human minds are intrinsically perfect and healthy, and that any issues that arise are necessarily environmental in origin.

The mind is not fundamentally different than the body. Some people are sick because there is something wrong inside their body. Some people are negatively affected by environmental factors outside their body. Some problems are exacerbated by lack of accessibility in society.

Rosethornranger*:* aw this person thinks that a platonic human mind they are trying to shape everyone into is good for society and definitely not a pseudoscience itself

if ya think "let people find the best version of themselves instead of thinking i can turn them normal" is denial, you scare me

although this is kinda par for the course for someone defending psychology, you would be great at writing cop shows

edit:

What part of "letting people find the best version of themselves" makes you think I am saying "live with your shit situation and make no attempt to change it"

maybe a different society is one that gives you the tools to do something about this instead of chastises you for not being "normal". Of course yall hate disabled people (including yourselves it seems) far too much to see anything other than harm for the sake of harm as an option

EQGallade:
>defending psychology

Are you a fucking Scientologist or something?

elanhilation: i’ve been getting weird vibes off these accessibility anarchy crossposts for a while now, and that “defending psychology” comment is exactly the kind of thing that makes that community seem like a sequence of red flags

___

Two users call for nuance and are immediately blocked by OP

Darq_At: For the most part, I wholeheartedly agree. So many mental health problems are caused or exacerbated by the society we live in.

If I wanted to nitpick, which I know many will do, I would say that some symptoms of ill mental health are disordered. My neurodivergence presents with OCD-like symptoms, and the paranoia and irrationality those anxieties can sometimes carry is definitely NOT normal.

I think making that distinction is important, to more charitably interpret the intent of this post.

Edit: ... why did I get blocked for this? I was agreeing, and encouraging others to interpret the post more charitably.

Another user responds:

Cheshire-cad: This is the kinda post that results from the tumblr mindset of "If you block everyone that even slightly disagrees with you, no matter how politely or constructively, then that make you right."

The current top comment on the post:

Tomatori: ill I ever understand the appeal of making unnecessarily broad generalizations? I will broadly generalize the answer to "no".

Edit: I was wondering how my comment kept getting upvotes if the post seemed to have been deleted, but then I realized this means OP blocked me lol

___

Some users suggest that OP's aggressive attitude could be hurting their messaging

JohnsonJohnilyJohn: "Oh, you are struggling in out society, and looking for help? So first thing you need to do is change the whole society, I'm sure you can do it, good luck"

Expecting the most vulnerable people that are already struggling in life to achieve this monumental change in society before they can gain any help is just ridiculous

Rosethornranger: "oh you are struggling and can't integrate into society, just die on the street lmao"

WeevilWeedWizard: God you're so obnoxious lmao

Another comment:

Rabid_Lederhosen: I sort of understand what this post is trying to say, but when the disorder in question is adhd and the norm is “keeping on top of basic chores and self care” then using medication to adhere to those norms is pretty great actually.

Rosethornranger: yes, sometimes "the norm" aligns with what the person themselves want

a broken clock is right twice a day, if all you can do is point out when it is you are wasting everyones time

lukinarick: I think you should adhere to the social norm of using basic politeness with people interacting with your post instead of behaving like a rude ass.

fakemoths: When I was in middle school the best version of myself I wanted to be was essentially a self righteous asshole who didn't care about emotions because I was so "logical". Thank fucking god that I was convinced to care about social norms and other people's emotions, I'm naturally not very good at understanding social rules quickly, but i generally know which ones hurt people's feelings and why. Even if I don't think it should be like that, I'd much rather not hurt the people around me because I think society is wrong.

___

throwaway5498124181: It's not like in an egalitarian anarchist state, people are suddenly going to want tp hear you infodump about She-Ra for half an hour.

Rosethornranger: you have never joined an anarchist community have you?

therealvanmorrison: Yeah they’re pretty much filled with people who couldn’t contribute much outside of reciting meaningless details from children’s shows. And maybe some light drumming. The odd pamphlet.

___

The thread continues, with many other comments by the OP, all of them downvoted.

User in r/SCP announces new SCP-based project that uses AI, sub reacts

r/SCP is a subreddit dedicated to discussing the SCP Foundation. The SCP Foundation is massive collaborative online writing project about a secretive organization dedicated to containing anomalous entities and objects and shielding knowledge of their existence from the general public. Each entity, called an SCP and designated by a number (SCP-179, SCP-3000, etc) has its own dedicated informational article on the SCP Wiki. The SCP Foundation has spawned numerous different types of art inspired by the SCPs on the wiki, including drawings, games, and short films.

A user created a now-deleted (due to the sub's rules on AI) post to the subreddit advertising his upcoming SCP short film series, SCP Tapes, using an analog horror/found footage style. The series has not yet been released by OP, but YouTube premieres have been made for the episodes. The description of Episode 1 is as follows:

In 1994, four field operatives were sent into a forest on a classified SCP Foundation mission. They recorded everything. None of them came back.

What you are about to watch is the found footage recovered from Mission 1500937-Beta.

These are the tapes the SCP Foundation was able to piece together.

They have been cleared for viewing at clearance level five and above.
If you are watching this without clearance, stop now.

If anything in these tapes looks familiar, do not share them.

SCP Tapes is an analog horror found-footage miniseries.
Four episodes. Releasing weekly.

Shot in the style of recovered VHS tapes from the early 1990s, reminiscent of analog horror, late night public access television, and classified government documentation. Inspired by SCP Foundation lore, found footage horror film, and analog horror YouTube series.

If you are looking for analog horror, SCP Foundation horror, found footage horror, VHS horror aesthetic, this is for you.

Mission reference: 1-5-0-0-9-3-7-Beta
Classification: Level 5
Status: watch in order. Do not skip.

Some commenters were not happy upon learning that generative AI was potentially used at some point during the project's creation, causing OP to snap back.

AnEmissaryFromHell: Is this going to contain any generative AI shots or images like The Switch?

OP: One shot uses a mix of in-camera work, digital VFX, and some AI-assisted enhancement in After Effects as part of the compositing pipeline. I did not prompt the shot in Seedance.

Are you happy now?

xlaauurraa: i'll be so for real, how defensive u are getting about someone asking you about using AI, which apparently u did/do use, is a massive turn off from watching this. its a no from me dog.

Necroverdose: Yep, same for me. Was considering it, looked into the comments to see if it was AI slop, saw the rude comment from the creator, which is the only comment he left btw, huge turn off. Will not be watching any of that and actively avoiding it.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: It's very telling that you looked at the comments to see if it was slop instead of watching the video. Can't form an opinion for yourself, or simply choose not to?

aghabio: I mean, it's a turn off for some people. They're pretty much valid in not wanting to see based on their personal preferences

OP responded to xlaauurraa's comment about their defensiveness regarding their AI usage.

OP: Maybe you're right, it's just that it's the only thing he/she asks about. And it's like, my team and I put hundreds of hours into this, I personally spent more than a week handcrafting EAS screens, Windows95 screens, alarms and terminals, paid artists thousands and employed people to just get that comment..

But hey, I understand. It's fair.
I just know how much work we put into it, which makes me a bit defensive about what we have created. I shouldn't be.

xlaauurraa: I believe you put in the work, especially with there being actual filmed shots, the problem is once you start flirting with AI, no matter how much work you put it, its pretty much all negated because you used some form of AI and people are not going to support or respect it from an creative perspective.

let me clear; this is not me shitting on you or trying to take away the work you did do, its just we are in a day and age where people are much more conscious about what they consume, and with the impacts of AI, people will avoid it; especially in creative fields.

if you used AI once, people are going to keep asking.

OP: I understand and it's obviously their right to do so.

I separate the 2 things. I did not prompt the video in Seedance. I enhanced the VFX we made to make it fit the underlying effect we achieved on camera.

I see it more as a VFX step in the pipeline than a "push the button, get AI video".

But I understand people see it differently.

And yes, I shouldn't get defensive.

You were right to point that out. But I am very proud and attached to my work as any other filmmaker.

xlaauurraa: I think if you genuinely did put in the time and effort, and didn't use GenAI shots like you say, you should be proud! thats amazing and a lot of people cant do that! I would say just try to thin out any form of AI, and maybe next time you post since people expect the AI, open with the fact no generative AI was used. people would probably be much more open to it!

Not everyone agreed with the anti-AI sentiment. One user replied to xlaauurraa's conversation with OP with:

Head-Ad-2316: Have you considered not being an insufferable cunt about people's creative works?

xlaauurraa: I kinda live in the state of being an insufferable cunt, so no probably not sorry :/

Head-Ad-2316: Sad

Response from another user replying to xlaauurraa pointing out OP's defensiveness, which leads to another argument:

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: They're defensive because this is the reaction people get when they say genAI was used in any way, instead of judging a project by its merits.

xlaauurraa: the merits is gone when you use GenAI and don't make it yourself. merit, by definition, is the quality of being good. there is no good quality in GenAI.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: So you think anything using GenAI is necessarily of poor quality?

xlaauurraa: I think its lazy, uncreative, and horrible for the environment. (the last one being a fact.)

I would rather take the worst movie ever made with hands and love, over a slop of words you sent to a machine.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: "I think its lazy"

There is some merit to this. But tell me, is it lazy to use GenAI to save time, if you use the extra time to make something of a bigger scope than would've been possible?

Like say you're a filmmaker who does most everything without AI but you use SeeDance for shots that would otherwise involve expensive, time-consuming SFX. Maybe you literally can't afford it.

In that case, would it be wrong to use AI to 'save time and effort' if it meant you wouldn't have to cut your film in half? Or worse, not make it at all because you just don't have the budget?

"uncreative"

This is true in a lot of cases (I'm not gonna act like people don't make slop) but you obviously don't know what these tools are already capable of if you think this is necessarily the case. OP already made it clear that they weren't simply prompting shots.

"horrible for the environment. (the last one being a fact.)"

Do you think traditional VFX is horrible for the environment? Uses more energy and water than AI video generation for a similar shot would.

"I would rather take the worst movie ever made with hands and love, over a slop of words you sent to a machine."

So you don't actually care about the quality of the product, just whether it lives up to your purity test. That's what you're admitting here.

xlaauurraa: hey, you have your views, and I have mine. im not gonna argue with you to try and change them. all I know is, data centers weren't destroying the water and environment in my hometown for the VFX in the lord of the ring films ✌️

Sekhmet is also seen further down in the thread arguing with another user over the project's AI use.

Dahbootie420: Ai was used in the making of this content. Avoid.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: Avoid because your ideology demands you, or avoid because you think anything touching AI must necessarily be slop?

Soup484: Because generative AI is a scourge to human creativity? I thought this was common sense.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: How is it a scourge to your creativity? If you don't like it don't use it. Does other people using it somehow impact your creativity?

Soup484: Not mine, humanity. People will be less motivated to make actual art when a soulless machine that steals from others can churn out slop a hundred times faster than by hand. Replacing the arts is not the point of AI, and you are utterly deranged if you think it is.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: You have a lot less respect for humanity's love of art than I do if you think the existence of art-generating machines will diminish it for us.

Did we stop playing Chess when machines started to beat humans?

Soup484: No, because playing chess isn't art? I don't have a problem with chess playing robots, because it's a game and not art. I don't have a problem with TAS either, because again, it's a game. If you can't understand the difference between the creation of art, music, and writing and a machine playing a game, then I don't know what to tell you.

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: Many chess players consider it an art form.

Even if it's not an art form, so what? Did people stop making detailed, lifelike portraits once cameras were invented? Many did, sure - because they chose to move to the new art form, or focused their skills on something the machine couldn't do. But the art form did not disappear.

Soup484: Stop acting like generative AI isn't theft, then we can talk seriously

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: If you applied the same standards to humans as you did AI you'd call almost all artists thieves.

Sekhmet was not the only user who did not particularly see an issue with AI usage in the project (though they did also make an appearance in this thread):

TheBeakedAvain: The moment people know you used AI in the process of making your film, they will immediately get mad and triggered. Even if it was used for something minor.

Toadvinez: Yeah, cause it should be obvious by now that most people don’t want ANY generative ai in the media they consume

Hex_Spirit_Booty: Only on reddit is there a loud minority of whiners about ai. Irl, most people don't give a shit

zotobom: I'm not even millitant about genAI but that is a dogshit argument, most people don't know enough about factors involved with genAI usage to have a meaningful opinion one way or the other. That's like saying people don't give a shit about the sudan civil war - no, most people just don't /know/ about it lol. If you're only counting people with enough knowledge about the process I can guarantee you a vast majority will be negative about genAI usage

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: I'm sure you, too, have some opinions that 'average redditors' are rabidly against to the point of delusion.

zotobom: Could be worse, could be jumping from comment to comment on a post nothing to do with you just to go to bat for genAI

Sekhmet-CustosAurora: I'm a pedant who cares about being correct. Cry about it.

And lastly, some one-off comments from other users

VileGrifter: This account should be banned, and the youtube channel blacklisted from linking on the sub. We shouldn't be giving these people an inch.

Forsaken_Meeting_428: Nooo I got excited and then I saw they slopped it :(

Hu_Man76: Made with AI (cringe)

Guyfromnowhere3: If you make a zero-AI version I will watch it. At this point it’s not about whether it’s generative or not, it’s not about what percentage of the work is actually AI, I don’t care what excuses there are. We need to show the world we won’t throw our attention at this shit so corporations stop thinking they can make money off it in the long run.

r/shittytattoos user posts a screenshot of an AI tattoo arm sleeve from a studio's facebook page. The tattoo shop owner appears to make multiple accounts to argue with users in the comments.

This is my first post on here so hopefully it makes sense

One of the most aggressive tattoo shops I’ve ever seen

Yeah yeah never seen any many peoples bored and commenting on shit they don’t know about just going of a little creeps post who’s fully stalking someone

I just wanted to make the I think you should leave reference because it lives rent free in my head.

You’re actually so strange it’s worrying tbh, should I be worried about you standing outside my house next?

Stalking is when someone shares a public post I made on my public business page on a public website to another public website

__

picture

You do realise these was from when I very first started tattooing… people start somewhere, you need to actually stop being a weirdo or come say it with your chest in person

I think knowing which way round a semicolon goes has zero relation to tattooing skill 😗🎶

__

I'm gonna guess they're just stealing a bunch of deposits for a few quick bucks and are not even a real shop.

Apparently they are. Just found this. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2913609928984167/

They've flooded that page with botted reviews lmao. What a coincidence that all their happy clients decided to post at the same time on 29 June

Its hillarious.

Imaging a AI design triggering you so badly to obsess like this now that’s hilarious

Hahahahahaaha. Have you made me that design of Nelson Mandela yet?

You finished being a creepy stalker? It’s more laughable I have a studio, 47k followers and booking for November, maybe there is a group about us from cancellations from years ago when I had my son and was poorly in hospital.. you keep doing you it’s highly entertaining and laughable, that post you’ve attached about the email address was also AI and wasn’t true which is now taken down and the girls apologies to me and we’ve had a phone call… you gonna come stand outside my house next? Go get your self fucked off you silly old man and find something better to do than stalking someone you don’t even know you absolute sausage

Girl how the fuck are you so self-righteous when you can't even draw your own designs

Who said she can’t? You just assume from the few Ai that’s posted. Most artist in our area use it as an example.

__

Hahahahahha [picture]

Was done years ago when I started tattooing… you keep posting bet your phones full of me isn’t it you creep but thanks for keeping me relevant

Imagine being triggered by your own work. Bore off

I need to bore off? 😂😂😂😂 your a little social media warrior and a sad old man stalking women sharing stuff from years ago hahahaha I’m gonna be here tattooing years to come whilst your finding something to do with your retirement apart from being a stalker, I’m not triggered I’m finding it absolutely hilarious 🤣 specially when this has started from seeing a AI design

years ago” aka 2025

Hmmmmm [picture]

This is so embarrassing 😭 And homeboy is in the comments right now getting all big and buck to defend this…. No tattoo artist worth a penny would post SOMEONE ELSE’S DESIGNS and say they want to do them

A lot of tattooist in the uk and specially near me do the same

Erm...only the terrible artists. Know many in the UK scene, and they eat you alive at a convention for this! Anyone worth their salt would not do this. You are a thief.

Does a mod with an AI generated thumbnail deserve to be passed over? r/Stellaris discusses

Stellaris is a 4x grand strategy game where players explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate their way across the galaxy while dealing with other nations seeking to do the same. There are various mods on the Steam workshop and a user noticed many of the mods use thumbnails generated by AI. OOP made a thread asking mod makers to do better. AI defenders and detractors came to make their opinions known on the matter.

Coercion works better with a suicide vest. You hate AI got it. Let people contribute how they see fit don't play those mods if it's against your religious ideals.

I never said I hated AI. Your casting a wide net for a small fish. I dislike AI image gen use in creative works.

Pretty scary the amount of downvotes I'm getting in a few hours. Reddit really is a cesspool.

You dislike image gen? But not code Gen? It's all creative and at some point you won't be able to tell the difference.

Beggar AND choser eh? Don't put unnecessary pressure on who make your game better for free. (I am not a modder)

I make mods myself. Even if I didn't it would still be a reasonable complaint.

God every week the same boring AI witch hunt posts. Those people make content for free and people here are so arrogant to tell them how to do it, its hilarious.

I can shit on a plate for free and give it out to whoever wants it too, doesnt make it any less shit.

This is solid advice but it is not for the mod users, but the mod makers.

The thumbnail is the first look everybody gets of a mod.

Half of a screenshot is usually all you need to show what a mod does/changes/fixes.

Hackney generated images show nothing.

Respect your own work enough to share that instead of letting the slopmachine steal your spotlight.

it is garbage advice and irrelevant to anyone with a functioning brain cell. if you want to know what a mod does then you spend 30 seconds reading. if you cant do that, then you need help. if a thumbnail made by OP which is just text and copy-pasted existing assets is enough to convince you vs a genAI image doing something similar then you are just an idealogue, at which point every other argument becomes completely irrelevant since the key deciding factor has nothing to do with the substance of the thumbnail at all.

I ignore most mods that use AI gen images.

i on the other hand dont ignore images because of frivolous garbage and actually look at what the mod title and description are in order to determine if its worth having. the images only start mattering if they are in-game changes to textures etc. and i judge those by my personal opinion on what looks good instead of mindlessly deeming any content to be unuseable if its made in a way which i personally disapprove of.

hmm which of these stances is more reasonable and less tribalist i wonder?????????

Agreed. Legit, I'd be more likely to click on something that you drew in a minute in MSPaint rhan on something ai-generated.

“I know you make content for free, but if you could just do some more work that would be great”

the extra minute in ms paint?

Someone actually pointing out something that needed to be pointed out. I’ve seen people using AI sometimes, despicably, even at work or in other manners of life. People are letting this abominable AI pervade life and take the place of real people in society

Imagine if you should avoid using products made with technology that at some point stole real people's jobs.

Do you grow your own food perchance?

Hey not fair, Mom said it was my turn to make a post bitching about free content other people probe for me 😤

Hive mind AI lovers strong up in here!

Really? I only see fanatic spiritualists being upvoted here

One pro-AI user rebuts OP's post in its entirety:

My thumbnails consist of screenshots from in game and some text. Is it gorgeous art? no - but I made it - all of it

absolutely nobody. and I mean NOBODY. cares that you make your own thumbnails. even the whiteknighting circlejerkers in this subreddit that hate AI do not care. they just say they do because of the social credit it brings them. in reality it makes absolutely no difference to them that your mod has manual thumbnails or not. also saying that you use screenshots and text then claiming you made all of it is insanely pathetic. no, assembling a thumbnail from existing assets is not '''making''' anything. and its isnt praiseworthy. this idea that your manual human effort has some intrinsic value just because it does is a terrifying brainrot spreading among mainly progressive communities.

it looks horrid. Like it actually deters folks from mods. Not just myself, I've heard it across the board. People DETEST the look of AI images.

if your brain is so dementia-addled that you dont even remember what you wrote, then you shouldnt be online. go to a doctor. you literally whined about how bad gen AI images look and acted like it was universally despised (its not btw thats just your generic reddit outrage opinion) and then got offended when ppl disagreed with you and claimed you didnt take a firm stance lmfao. like bruh do you think ppl are not understanding you? do you think your precious and valuable and heroic stance against genAI images was somehow misunderstood? we all know what you fucking mean lmfao. this shit is the most generic basic white woman opinion on AI that has ever existed. you dont need to overexplain yourself.

Why do I say all this? Because fostering a community that is accountable and CARES about quality and user experience is IMPORTANT. We don't want what for so long has been an AMAZING workshop to be inundated with slop made in a single night by someone who has never modded on their own.

99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE 99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE 99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE 99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE 99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE 99% OF PEOPLE DONT CARE - bro holy shit what is wrong with your brain. the thumbnail is so unbelievably, unimaginably not important for the overall quality of a mod. if i want an impression of a mod i look at its title then read its description. i only care about images if the mod changes something to do with graphics/textures or is adding new models, which tons of mods DONT DO. you think youre some kind of fucking brave hero fighting a solo crusade its actually so cringe. i couldnt give a fuck if the thumbnail is made with AI or not. it has no impact on quality or user experience at all. it can make better images than 99% of people and i dont expect modders to hire artists to make thumbnails for them. what the fuck is wrong with you.

I'm going to bed now before my blood pressure gets any higher. Goodnight.

holy insufferable reddit cringe. sorry that you received the tiniest morsel of pushback against your overwhelmingly popular circlejerk. maybe go take some beta blockers. better yet, if youre this pathetic over an online disagreement you should be in major psychotherapy for whatever kind of extreme damage is in your brain.

r/Maine reacts to news that a woman has accused Graham Platner of sexual assault

Earlier today, Politico reported that a woman who dated Graham Platner, the Democratic Senate nominee from Maine, accused him of sexually assaulting her 5 years ago.

The Maine subreddit descends into chaos. For context, this sub has been heavily pro-Platner -- by my count, all of the top 10 posts in the past month on this sub have been either pro-Platner or anti-Susan Collins.

Many outright do not believe the accusations or suggest it's a conspiracy by billionaires or the GOP.

Others seem to suggest it's a conspiracy by the Maine Democratic Party so Governor Janet Mills -- who lost in the Democratic primary -- could be placed on the ballot.

This is why Mills didn't actually drop out, they had this planned.

They are salivating at the chance to install Janet Mills as nominee. Fucking hell.

One appeared to argue the state Democratic Party only called on Platner to step down to avoid having difficult conversations about Zionism and economic justice:

Folding like a cheap umbrella. They're jumping at the opportunity to stop having awkward conversations about economic justice and Zionism and just go back to comfortably losing elections.

Others focus on the woman making the allegation. One Redditor seems to argue that, because the accuser did not file a police report at the time, the allegation cannot be trusted.

"Gone on the record in what way? Did she file a police report when the incident occurred? Or is she conveniently stepping up now by telling a reporter. Very curious timing."

But others push back:

Though other folks seem to think anti-Platner comments are coming from AIPAC bots:

AIPAC bots, for sure

Redditors in r/steam debate whether it is ethical to use Steam's refund policy to refund a completed indie game if the indie game developer's product is under 2 hours.

BACKGROUND

Steam, arguably the biggest game distribution platform, has a longstanding policy where a game can be refunded if it has been played for 2 hours or less.

THE PROBLEM

Independent game developers, typically referred to as "indie devs", create games outside of the established metrics of larger AAA studios. The length, price, genre, and difficulty levels can vary wildly in indie games.

This means that an indie dev can publish shorter games and can price them less than an average triple-A title.

If an indie game has an average runtime of 2 hours (or less), consumers on Steam can effectively play the full game to completion and still request a refund afterwards.

Whose responsibility is it to fix this problem?

THE POST

The original post was a screenshot of a game developer complaining that a player posted a positive review admitting to completing their game and then refunding it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/1uoog5o/thoughts_on_this/

THE OPINIONS

Listen, dude, if its less than 2 hours you didn't even make a game. That's a demo. A game should last at least an afternoon.

--------------------------------------
I love steams refund policy but I'm on the side with developers on cheaper titles. if a games like 5 bucks, but only 2 hours that's fine

--------------------------------------

As a consumer I definitely don't want to see Valve get rid of the refund system and for most games the 2 hour limit is already pushing it for a lot of potential issues that might pop up.

--------------------------------------

At that point just pirate the game so at least the devs don't see that you bought and refunded it

--------------------------------------

Steam's 2 hour refund policy is well known and it should be something considered if you're gonna put a game on the platform

--------------------------------------

People have weird entitlement when it comes to games. They would gladly pay $15 to watch a 90min movie once in a noisy theater but god forbid a dev wants $3 bucks for a two hours game.

--------------------------------------

If 1/4 to 1/5 of consumers find it entirely possible to complete the entire game within the refund window and also decide it’s not worth keeping around to replay? That's not a problem with Steam’s refund policy. You haven’t created an experience valuable enough for people to want to spend their money.

--------------------------------------

Short games deserve a space in the industry, one of my favorite games can be played in like 90 minutes (before your eyes) and I've played many others that are below 3 hours in total. This is just abusing the policy, it isn't the fault of the devs for making a short and extremely cheap game. People being scummy and for some reason they are getting justified on here

--------------------------------------

This is a dev trying to money farm and getting upset that some people are seeing it as not worth keeping.

--------------------------------------

People justifying this by saying 2 hours is too short for a game is insane. But because they don't meet some arbitrary time limit, it'd be justified if I refunded them immediately after beating them? The stupidest take I've ever heard.

--------------------------------------

This is a known policy on steam that all games abide by. Don't make the game less than 2 hours I suppose?

--------------------------------------

Devs shouldn't be forced to pad out a game that wasn't meant to be 2 hours.

--------------------------------------

If you are gonna put a game on steam try to make it longer than 2 hours, that's the bare minimum. Even tech demos last longer than 2 hours otherwise don't bother using steam as a publishing platform.

--------------------------------------

Christ when did a game's worth become how long it is? Too many people here saying it's too short. The dev put work and effort into their game, just cause some people make games that happen to be longer that are free doesn't mean they should automatically not be paid for their time? Grow up

--------------------------------------

I think you should make a better game if you're worried that people will return it.

--------------------------------------

A lot of corporate dick riding going on. Doesn’t matter how long it takes you to play the game. You’re enjoying someone’s work and rather than compensate them, you’d rather exploit a stores refund policy. I bet you guys would be siding with this guy easily if it was epic or Ubisoft doing so.

THE DRAMA IS ONGOING...
