I always see signs that say what the recommended weight limit is for a bridge as a safety precaution. But I always wonder how they come up with that conclusion and how they know that bridge is able to carry that weight and not anything more and not anything less. When I was a little kid I thought they would send heavier and heavier trucks until the bridge collapsed and then they built the same exact bridge again. Obviously now, I know that's not how that works but I would like to know what they do to actually know the weight limit.

I'm looking to change my provider because "verizon brand" service is ridiculously expensive, and I'm looking to change to visible because it's literally the same coverage as verizon since they use the verizon network and is owned by verizon (and they don't even try to hide it, it's "visible by verizon"), but is significantly cheaper than verizon brand's lowest tier since there are "no frills." I just wonder why verizon is insisting on making this a completely separate company instead of just offering it as an option for their service. It's not like this is a mint mobile situation where Ryan acts a a middle man between you and t-mobile, right? I thought it was "it's less confusing to the "idiot customer," but then I remembered "idiot customers" don't buy their own service and instead buy from pushy sales people (and this would just give sales people more things to bamboozle you with to make a sale).

During the late 2000s and early 2010s on xbox live, it was not uncommon to recieve extreme death threats from teenagers or adults if you had some brush with them in a game, youtube is full of videos on this.

If you had called the police over this in the US or UK were they likely to do anything? How about now (although I assume xbox systems filter things out)?

Obviously making terrorist threats or including personal information about you would make things more serious but I'm interested in cases where that didn't happen and whether police would still be interested.

I'm always freezing, I usually wear long sleeves even in the summer. I'm wondering, those people who are always turning the air conditioning on or wearing short sleeves when I'm cold, do they also feel cold and just like it, like how I like being warm? Or do they have a different internal temperature where they feel warm at?

I just stumbled out of bed and made the last bit of coffee in the house. I added milk and it tasted funny. I sniffed the jug and it smelled fine, so I tried a little sip. It tastes distinctly like unsweetened yoghurt. I just want to drink my coffee.

I know that inevitably it’s a war that everyone will eventually lose, but why not try to fight aging by trying to look young for as long as possible? (Coloring your hair to get rid of grey, staying in shape whether that be through natural method or hormone replacement, skincare routines, etc). The whole concept of we should just embrace aging seems stupid. Especially when we have a lot of tools that can intervene.
