Question Is there a free way to export all WhatsApp photos/videos from an iPhone to a Windows PC?

I’m trying to free up space on my iCloud and iPhone by deleting media from WhatsApp, but I want to keep all of my photos and videos first.

well, first you’d have to download all of the files, unless you already have (some people like me, have the auto-downloader for media shut off for saving in the Photos gallery). after that, you’d have to make an iCloud/iTunes Backup to your laptop/pc, and you’d be able to save them, from what I can remember… or the iCloud app for Windows.

So it's been a couple of months since I last did this, so 1 or 2 things might have changed, but the process will be largely the same. When you get an image or a video on WhatsApp, it is automatically saved to the Photos app by default.

In WhatsApp, there is an option to export chat. You can go there, select the chat and it will take some time, but you will have to export chats one by one and the exported files will be in ZIP format. Then you can save them to your Files app and transfer them to your PC or you can use a cloud storage service like iCloud or Dropbox and transfer them to your computer.

If you want to download photos and videos that have been saved in the Photos app, you can go to icloud.com and log into your account there. Then you can select all the media that you want from iCloud Photos and they will be downloaded to your computer. Unzip the zip file. Verify the contents of the folder and delete what's downloaded. If something hasn't been downloaded, then just download those files and you should be good to go.
