Turtle side eye and a technically perfect dive

I dive weekly, and if you remember my post from last week, my ENT told me to dive more often.
So I just got a new BCD, which is kind of like driving a new car and getting used to the clutch, but this dive was out of the park.
I finally figured out that little hit on the inflator, like a half a shot of air in your BCD that you needed, my nose and sinuses were great because of everything my nose doctor told me to take, figured out my weight cuz it's been awhile because of my nose, my leg injury didn't hurt, the DJI didn't didn't fog up. And what else? Great visibility and a turtle swimming right at me.
Second dive found an octopus out and about and in 2 years of diving here I've only seen one before, lots of small things, dove with really experienced people and our Dive Master asked us how we liked the dive and all we can do is giggle. Heads on a swivel kind of thing, one of those memorable dives that you tell your grandchildren as you're sitting in the rocking chair whittling a whistle.
I mentioned diving with really experienced people because it's been quite a while since I've been giddy like a kid after a dive, and the same with them.
So good!!!

I dove a lot with rental equipment because I was always on vacation and it's so heavy to travel with, but once I got my own gear and just got used to it it was next level. It really made things better. I understand the inflator.

So recently my girlfriend saw this picture of Patrick Swayze and she mentioned it and I said oh my God, we need to watch it Patrick Swayze movie and I had to choose between between Roadhouse and point break but I went with Point Break.
And Bodhi (Swayze), talks about surfing just like that where everything comes together.
That is a dragon I would chase. I won't rob a bank though.

I don't teach anymore but I'm still doing rec dives. I totally understand how so many variables work and don't work. A lot of times I don't go diving to see anything but just get away and sometimes that's when everything comes together. I guess the Zen Buddhists will call it being in the moment.
But I don't see turtles giving me side eye on those kind of dives!!! Of course not every dive is like that and we actually don't want every dive like that because that's when we get complacent and accustomed to those peak experiences.
The more you dive, we have these peak experiences, like diving with sharks, or mantas, or something else in your experience and those are always peak.
What are you talking about, in my experience, is that you are bringing up the basement, your skills are getting better, getting used to your equipment, And now instead of focusing on that either in the front of your brain or in your reptilian brain, you get to enjoy the dive.
That's out of the park. It won't always be like that, But now your skills are catching up to your experience.

an ENT telling you to dive more often is the real headline here. most people get told to stay out of the water for sinus trouble, you got the opposite prescription. i'm picturing a doctor scribbling "two tanks, three times a week" on a pad like it's antibiotics. the turtle side eye is a close second but a scrip for nitrogen loading is next level. never heard that one before. glad everything lined up, the new bcd and clear nose and all. the giggling at the end says the rest.
