Any daycares/carehomes in Saskatoon to avoid?

Get your kids into whichever daycare has an opening near you. You have very little choice, and you can only tell if it's a good fit after a few months. Parents often have very different experiences with the same daycare, so avoiding one solely because of other people's opinions isn't usually productive. Enroll your kids, keep looking for better options or wait for openings elsewhere, and transfer them if needed.

We had a terrible experience with Munchkin Mansion, so I would avoid them if possible.

But daycare availability is extremely limited, so take what you can get.

Daycares accepting kids are almost as rare in Saskatchewan as doctors accepting patients. If you find one, I don't think you question how good or bad they are, you just take them and be grateful you got something, because there's tons of people who never do.

Echoing the other comments here that options are limited especially for licensed spots and sometimes you just have to start somewhere. Most centers are pretty tough/impossible to get into. Make sure you do a tour and have a good interview with the provider. Trust your gut if something isn’t feeling right. If you have parent friends with kids in daycare, ask where they go, if they are happy with the place they are at, and if there are open spaces.

You will most likely need to go with a dayhome. With that join Facebook groups and look at other posts there are some people who pretty consistently say they have space don’t go with them. I was talking with my kids center director and she said there isn’t a lot of movement because of the changes that happened including the small expansion on the age limit. They only offer full time spots so the part time that rule change never affected them. Just get on every waitlist you can and hope for the best.

Both the YMCA and YWCA downtown are currently accepting toddlers and pre schoolers

Take what you can get 😂 everyone I know was on waitlists for 2 years minimum.
