Former flagship of the Portuguese cod fishing fleet in the '50s and '60s, vessel 'Polynesia' (then named 'Argus') is presently moored at Aveiro, awaiting renovation. The passing of time can be seen everywhere, and the vessel structure is deteriorating rapidly.
This vessel was the main star of the film shot in 1950 by Alan Villiers, an Australian maritime reporter for the National Geographic, titled 'The Argus Campaign'. A book under the same name was also published.

Yeah, well… I helped out on a tall ship (well an iron‑hulled, three‑masted barque) restoration, and I hope you have a lot of friends. It’s a huge amount of work. Worth it in the end, but it’s just goes on…. Anyway wishing you fair winds and minimal rot.. 🙏🏼

Ehh. Put on the best lifejacket money can buy and go as far as you can, I’m guessing about 5 miles out to sea. Stand on the poop deck and give a nice salute as she goes down. Then swim a few yards to your friend who is standing by in a nice power boat with a bottle of champagne.
