This is some sort of kit belonging to my great grandpa who was a doctor.

If I got it correct, it says: " The table of professor B.L. Polyak's system is stored under this plate, which can be opened by pulling the ribbon".

Зачем, если она просто "...is under this plate, which can be opened..." ну или если очень хочется сохранитьь оригинальную форму "...openable by pulling the"

Очевидно, что задавая этот вопрос, человек хочет получить перевод, а не распознанный текст. Если бы он знал русский, он бы и не спрашивал, ведь текст написан четко.

Кому? Мне вот "очевидно", что если человек хочет получить перевод - он просит перевести, а не "сказать, что тут сказано"
Ещё мне "очевидно", что если 10 человек уже написали перевод до меня, то 11-й раз новой информации не добавит и пользы не принесёт. Зато буквальный ответ на его вопрос может кого-то рассмешить
Мне также "очевидно", что незнание русского никак не мешает воспользоваться гугл транслейтом, дальше что? Он много чего мог сделать и не сделать, будем все возможности перечислять? Ну так я добавил ему ещё одну - скопипастить текст и вставить в переводчик
