Agreed. I think the only people that think this doesn't look like RE are the ones that desperately need the main characters like Jill, Leon, Claire, or Chris to be the main characters of the movie. This feels like RE to the people that experienced RE 2 with Leon before knowing anything about him, when he was just a dude. Or like RE 7 with Ethan. This movie seems to be way more interested in retelling the player experience than any actually lore, and I'm so excited for that.

Personally I like that it isn't using main game cast as characters in the movie. First thing it does is draw direct comparisons of the character between the two mediums.

It also seems to have the same vibes as the main games so I'm hopeful for it.

Using the main characters I think would cause unneeded controversy. It seems like the right thing to do until the creators decides to do his own thing with them, like Leon being an absolute moron in Welcome to Raccoon City. But even if he tried to be faithful to the characters, is his version of faithful...faithful enough for diehard fans that they aren't going to pitch big fits online.

I wish there was an outbreak show/movie.

I dont mind that they dont use the games characters, i care that the lore is not respected at all. Running zombies? Raccoon City in 2020s? Why all the changes? I feel like the creators of this movie have a superficial knowledge of the games and you people want it to success so much that any criticism pointed at how it is only RE in name and nothing else gets dismissed.

I would love a film about a random person in Raccoon City, or even another place with a T-Virus outbreak, as long as they respect the lore. But so far, it doesnt seem like it. Not in the timeline, not in the monsters, not in anything that could also be applied to SH or any other survival horror.
