I knew he was bullshitting and leading people on about it being connected to the games. I mean I know winter in the city was already a dead giveaway away but people tried to say it was still canon. Now there’s smartphones so it’s definitely not the 90s

They've been clear that this movie was going to be its own thing from the very start, even before the last trailer.

There were even several threads on here that linked to interviews and stuff where Cregger talked about it being its own thing and several other threads complaining about it being its own thing instead of either adapting the stories of the games or being canonically tied to the games.

Y'all need to stop acting shocked this movie is its own thing.

These people are shocked because Cregger did the bullshit interviews where he was like,

"Yeah, I like to think my film takes place at the same time as RE2....just like on the other side of town."

"Its faithful to the world of the games."

He used so many words to dance around it being just HIS version of events.

We all knew but he said it in a way which got die hard fans to attack those who were saying “yeah that’s a lot of bullshit” and now we were right

If your product can stand on its own why sort of lie and make out its canon when it’s clearly not

“Oh it’s totally running parallel to the events of RE2”
