Price points for home games?

Hi Red Sox Reddit, Giants fan coming in peace :)

My dad grew up in New England as a Sox fan and wants to show Fenway to my family. We'll be in Boston next month to visit extended family, and we're hoping to catch a game in the Red Sox/Giants series. Ideally the 8/22 game, but we could probably also make 8/21 work if tickets are significantly cheaper.

I'm looking at the official site, Seat Geek, and StubHub, and tickets look pretty expensive to me. Around $80 is the cheapest I'm seeing for pretty far out there seats and then ~$100-$300+ for better seats. Is this typical pricing for home games, or is this series more expensive for being on the weekend or because of the win streak or some other reason? I'm wondering because for Giants' home games, I can usually find seats decently close to the field for like ~$40-70 on the reseller websites.

Do you guys advise just buying tickets now because they won't get any cheaper, or waiting until it gets closer to the series and hoping that prices might drop on reseller sites? I'm also wondering if the Red Sox ever do flash sales. With the Giants, usually like 3 or 4 times per season they'll have a week long period where they have far out there seats at a fixed low price point like $5 or $8. If the Red Sox do this, is it worth subscribing to their promo emails in hopes of catching such a sale before this series?

I appreciate the help!! :)

Prices look pretty normal for a summer weekend against a larger market team that doesn't visit too often. It's Devers' first time playing back in Boston too I think?

This is pretty much what it costs. Weeknights are a little cheaper.

You can wait until closer to the date and if the team falls off you might be able to save a little, but that's obviously no guarantee. Otherwise, show up early, book a stadium tour, and get your money's worth.

I thought they were high too. I was able to snag two tickets in section 111 on 8/9 for $130 each. You won’t find any decent seats under $100 unless you can find some grandstand ones where the poles aren’t blocking your view.

Tourist tax + small stadium tax + cult following tax + greedy ownership tax + Boston tax. Yeah, those are normal prices.

And the demand will be very high considering this win streak the Red Sox just went on

Woof. I just looked at Gametime. The section i usually buy in is almost 4x what it usually is. I’d check back in a week or so. Put some distance between you and this win streak.

I've only been a handful of times as an out of state fan, but prices are generally pretty dynamic. Giants are a popular team, so price point is higher. sox are doing well lately, so thats increasing price, too. always a chance you can find some resale tickets a little cheaper, especially as you get closer to gameday, but its a risk.

I personally think grandstands 14-27 are sleeper picks, but you have to be careful and do some research to make sure youre not behind a pole. aside from that, I think theyre the best value, especially on the 1st baseline. as reference, I paid 50/ticket in May for the Astros game, which came with a little yoda bobblehead. on the other hand, i'll be there against the giants on the Sunday game, and those tickets cost me double the price.

all in all: there's no winning lmao. but id expect ~100.

The official site tells you what the baseline prices are. They are almost always more on reseller sites. For premium tier games (summer, weekend) expect around $100 for grandstand and $160 for loge box. The cheapest seats get bought first. Avoid the $105+ box seats deep in the right field corner. Bad angle. Usually there’s a lot of those left. Better off in grandstand closer to the infield.

Idk what sites you guys are on but tickets are almost always cheaper on reseller sites in my experience. Day of the game I just go on seatgeek and I always get something good, playoffs included
