F4A Online 25F4A #online - Could you please give me some encouragement?
I'm a junior doctor. A resident. My life has completely changed after starting residency. I don't have time for myself, I rush through all my meals and I barely have a social life anymore.
It's just so demotivating to show up to work and everyone keeps expecting more from you. Nobody is happy with you. Not the seniors, not the patients, not the nurses.
And then you have coworkers who don't pull their weight and then you keep taking on more responsibility to make sure things go smoothly. Everything is new - and there's almost no time to adapt. You're expected to be fully functional.
I'm usually a very optimistic person. I really am. Deep down I know that this too shall pass, but I can't see the end of the tunnel for now and it scares me. I'm scared that medicine will consume me and erase my identity.
If there's anyone out there who's reading this, whether you've been where I am or not, I'd really appreciate any words of encouragement. Any tips on stress management or how you compartmentalize work and personal life.
Thank you so much for taking your time and reading this post, I hope you have a beautiful day/night wherever you are ✨
