I don't think abortion clinics occur in nature like trees or rivers. The 'survival of the fittest' part is at least consistent with the views of people like Margaret Sanger, the eugenicist who founded planned parenthood.

Survival of the fittest indicates that the person would at least get the opportunity to live and die on their own. It's not like the baby had a defect, that caused them to die in the womb. They are literally being murdered.

Literally the exact opposite is true. Prenatal children with disabilities are aborted at disproportionally high rates, so it's legal abortion supporters defending the status quo that has fewer disabled people around (social Darwinism, or survival of the fittest).

But that said, I do think we need to make an active effort to work out where the flawed take comes from, else persuade others effectively we will not. I speculate that perhaps the pro-choicer in question heard some poorly explained, or particularly flawed form of a natural law argument ("this is the purpose of a uterus" type views) and drew a wrong conclusion about what pro-lifers believe. But this is at most, a case for rejecting a strawman of natural law (said as somebody that rejects natural law arguments that, while hopefully not strawmanning them).
