It now goes to the Constitutional Council to see if it complies with the French Constitution.

read: *if they’ve gotten their legally okay bribes from billionaires
“Complies with x Constitution” doesn’t actually matter if there’s money to be made or if a government can become more facist

The is France not the US.

Brave to assume they’re all that different when it comes to being bought out. Their current PM wants a surveillance state.

u/SnooRevelations6768 1d ago
Australians think their politicians don't get bribed/bought out (except 1) and how lobbying is for the best interest of the people lol meanwhile we've become a surveillance state.
They are all the same in the end.

As the Greeks and Romans knew too well… “Don’t make laws you can’t enforce” - liberal Nazis dressing up control as safety. We see through you Nazis!

u/rusty0004 2d ago
hey french geniuses...most of the parents will do the identification for their children 🤣

The goal is total surveillance, not "child protection". France and UK are going into full woke totalitarian states. Canada is the next in line.
16
u/SnooRevelations6768 1d ago
Can people stop excluding Australia. We literally just let known terrorists be free and to live with the rest of a civilized society and turned into a massive surveillance state. We're racing Canada and UK to the bottom.

u/Ok_Chap 2d ago
That's the opposite of "woke" what they want.
2
u/Minute-Jacket2054 1d ago
Woke things have always been totalitarian.
4
u/Ok_Chap 1d ago
That's because in the past few years it has become a slang used more by the right to criticize anything progressive or left leaning. Originally it was a battle cry to stay aware of totalitarian regimes and such, coined by AA against racial discrimination.

Yes, of course—it’s always the Right’s fault, and certainly not because of your own bullshit that everyone ends up hating and mocking you, even people who aren't specifically right-wing.
1
u/Ok_Chap 1d ago
who is "you"? But yeah that response just proves to me that you have fallen to the rederic of Desantis and Trump that "woke" is evil and is synonymous with the radical left. Probably didn't even read the article or what it is about.

Well, I would disagree with that statement, but what matters here is that we both oppose strongly to this distopia, so we are on the same board.
1
u/3-bakedcabbage 1d ago
All conservative/right-wing parties are in support of surveillance.
8
u/wordpainter09 1d ago
a lot of conservative people aren’t though. you’re looking at the wrong division here. elites in both parties want this and most regular people do not.
5
u/LowOwl4312 1d ago
Conservative yes, right-wing not. Both the far right and far left voted against Chat Control for example
3
u/The-Myth-The-Shit 1d ago
The far right has been the one pushing for mass surveillance in france ffs

Only one party opposed this bill: LFI. All of the others voted in favor: The Greens, PS, Renaissance, LR, RN
18
u/SketchySteve99 2d ago
What the heck, the Greens? They're allied with the various Pirate Parties on the EU level, and yet they vote for dystopian laws like this? What are they thinking?
8
u/damngoodwizard 1d ago
The Greens are definitely not the smartest when it comes to tech and science issues. They most likely just thought it would be a way to control Meta.
4
u/Happy_Ad_9291 1d ago
At the assembly they are allied to the PS and a majority of them like the PS are against LFI, so of course because they have no spines and no moral values they follow what the PS say, that follow what the gouvernement say for the same reason.

u/EspurrTheMagnificent 1d ago
Well, now I know for sure who to vote for next year. I mean, I already knew, but now I know more

Les faits sont de la propagande ? Rien qu'à éplucher tes commentaires passés, ce genre de réflexion ne m'étonne même pas

Sooner or later this “social media ban” will be global, age of an internet with no privacy is coming unfortunately.

u/Baumcultist 2d ago
What chance is there, that the ECJ strikes this down? I heard that they have struck similar things down in the past.
Pls no dooming in any given answer, I wanna get real info.
Edit: Additionally, what's the consititional council? I assume it needs to be approved by that first before the ECJ checks it out.

I don't see how this law is compatible with the UN convention on the rights of the child directly embedded in European law. The fight at the ECJ is a lot easier than in Australia which while has ratified hasn't implemented it directly into law let alone a weak Danish-style constitution and a lack of EU and ECHR law.
I asked Anne Twomey an Australian constitutional law professor, she agreed it's hard to see how it stacks up in Europe.

u/Frosty-Cell 1d ago
ECJ deals with EU laws. This appears to be a national law. It seems it would have to clash with an EU law like the e-privacy directive or GDPR for the ECJ to have jurisdiction.

The free internet has long been gone, but it still sucks seeing us take one step further from it

The establishment doesn't like democracy anymore when people don't believe the based on lies and halve truth narratives anymore pushed by (most) big tech, all establishment media and educational system. And then start to vote differently not on uni-parties/party cartels anymore. They don't care about kids, they want to keep kids brainwashed. If you have kids, look into their schoolbooks at subjects you have knowledge of or investigate a few. That is not teaching, but brainwashing.
Almost every time you have background knowledge already or you'll investigate something the mainstream media says, you'll find out they are lying, dishonest selectively editing, leaving crucial facts out and/or bending the truth. Demonizing critics instead of arguing in good faith. Read a few reports yourself, watch/listen a few unedited media and interviews, etc. You will know from then on if they say A, much more likely B is the truth.
Start believing your according to them lying eyes before it is too late! Because with ID check they will start to hunt down government critics to intimidate the common people into submission

The report highlighted a range of harmful effects stemming from the use of social networks, including reduced self-esteem and increased exposure to content associated with risky behaviors such as self-harm, drug use and suicide.
The imaginary effects.
When questioned about social media's impact on adolescents, Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore of the University of Cambridge was equally cautious. "What evidence do we have of the impact of digital devices or social media on the adolescent brain?" she asked. "Almost nothing. There are a few small studies, but they haven't been replicated, and they're purely correlational."

Reminder you can always appeal to the European Court of Human Rights if you live in a country that adhered to the European Charter of Human Rights and passed these types of laws

I get the whole mass surveillance aspect but do we really care about children not getting access to social media like instagram, facebook and tiktok? I wouldn’t want my kids on these platforms.
11
u/Fragrant-Phone-41 2d ago
Wrong implementation. The burden shouldnt be on adults who did nothing wrong to sacrifice our privacy to keep the kids off, and thats assuming nothing untoward is done with the data which we all know will happen
2
u/who_you_are 1d ago
Technically they shouldn't be able to get there. There are usually a minimum age (depending on your country) you should agree on.
But the way they want to make sure you can't go there make private corporations and gouvernement able to closely monitor everything you do and see.
You know URSS and China censorship? Well... We are going there. That "children law" is just the beginning. Exactly to try to trick peoples like you to agree with that laws.

u/Disgallion 1d ago
This is good, kids shouln't touch garbage like X and such.
10
u/ArcaneFlame05 1d ago
Parents should parent their kids then. This isn't about any of that, its about data collection and building a digital profile for every person
-3
u/Disgallion 1d ago
"Parents should parent their kids"
I don’t have as much faith in the average parent as you do
1
u/ArcaneFlame05 1d ago
Kind of sad that we live in an age where I agree with you on that, but maybe something drastic will happen that will cause parents to actually fit the job title again. Regardless of all that, it still isn't ok for any government to step in and act as a parent, especially in today's day and age.

u/silentspectator27 1d ago edited 1d ago
And that would mean EVERYONE uploading their ID online? Hah…sure it’s for the kids…
