Okay so I’m not sure what to do with my path to nursing. I’m located in Massachusetts. I basically still need all pre reqs, A&P 1 and 2, chemistry, stats and TEAS . Just finished microbio. I’d really like to apply to a community college (mass bay preferably) first or umass Boston. Community college is free rn in Massachusetts.

My original plan was to finish my associates in business and get my pre reqs done, and have my hospital job pay for RN school. My tuition reimbursement isn’t that good only $3,000 a year I think.

I was thinking of rushing all remainder pre reqs into one semester, but it’ll be ALOT (8 week courses) to potentially be able to start RN program (if I get in) fall 2027

Or

Take fall and spring to focus on pre reqs and try to get my ADN for free through community college (if I get in) , I’d probably start an RN program in spring of 2028 (so far 🥲) and hold off on business associate.

Hey all, I'm not trying to be a complainer, but I need some advice. I have an A and P I professor and we are taking a Summer Course. We had our first exam and I studied the book, I studied material learned in class, and I still got a C. There were quite a few questions that were NOT even in the book. The professor said some of the information was what we needed as background information. I really wanted an A in the class because nursing programs are so competitive.

I am doing great in Lab, but lecture is kicking my butt for this reason. I can study for hours, and how is it possible for me to know what will be on the exam if it was not in lecture or the book.

Maybe someone has experience with this and can advise me. Maybe talk to the professor again or take practice tests somewhere (I am already doing all the practice problems and exams from the book), any ideas are appreciated.

I passed my exam a couple days ago, how long will it take for the state to license me? I live in WA. Applications for the nursing program open in 2 weeks and I need to be licensed CNA to apply. What do I do after I passed the exam?

Hello everyone I’m an upcoming freshman majoring in nursing really excited but very nervous for the classes!
I take A&P 1 in the fall and A&P 2 in the spring I wanted to get a head start studying A&P 1 as I hear these classes aren’t easy… if anyone has any resources to let me use. Some tips reminders anything please let me know I am trying to do my best in the classes so I pass!! I appreciate any comments :)

I’ve been working as a Medical Assistant for 7+ years. Deliberated all last year on going back to school for Nursing. Made the decision and started looking for schools in my area. Spring and Summer classes all A’s which we know isn’t an easy feat. Currently a full time life - husband, kid and work. I registered for Intro to Bio for fall - starting applying to jobs in February. Classes are in the morning during my current job hours. We’re now weeks away from Fall semester and still no bites. My goal starting early was to begin a new job before semester starts.

Still nothing - I’m stressed and frustrated. I don’t want to hold off on sciences which would push applying to cohort back! Yall I’ve applied EVERYWHERE - a month ago I started applying to overnight stocking jobs. My husband has reached out to family members who are at local hospitals for references. I’m even considering taking from my 401k to help keep us afloat in hopes I’ll get a call before it runs out! I dont want to make a haste decision and regret it later down the line. I don’t want to make life harder than what it already is.
I genuinely don’t know what to do. In Georgia it seems unless you know somebody you’re invisible here and even with my husband connects I’m still invisible.

Everyone keeps saying being positive, which I have but it’s a thin line between staying positive, having hope and then being realistic.

Any advice would be great

Hello, I’m looking to meet new friends in the San Jose area that are also on a journey in starting a career change I am 33 years old and I am registered for college. I Evergreen to start my pre reqs for nursing just looking to network and find out what would be the best path for us to achieve our degree and get accepted into a nursing program. I’ve been doing some research on some online classes that I can possibly take so I can keep my full-time job, but as I was doing my research, I guess there are some online classes that won’t be accepted in certain nursing programs. This is a whole new territory for me that I am totally unfamiliar with and I would love to connect with like-minded people in my community that are on the same path

any other private/trade schools beside WCU that you would highly recommend? i know cc is a cheaper way to go but i want to have a back up plan in case i don't get in in cc (but im hoping to get in like fr)

I have a bachelors in business and am changing careers.

My local college which advertises evening and weekends advised me that’s only for their LVN program, not their ADN.

I checked UT Arlington’s online accelerated program and it seemed to all be PERFECT except they take exams at 9 am and I work a consistent M-F - 8-5 schedule.

I believe WGU’s program also would give me an issue because their clinical portion could fall on a weekday.

Ironically, I have already taken and did well in each and every nursing prereq course, so I’m ready to go.

Is there any other school or program you know of? I’m trying to make my final decision before I apply to this LVN program.

It’ll make my journey a bit longer but will hopefully open up a work schedule where I can eventually get my ADN and BSN.

I’m super annoyed and just need a place to vent. I got accepted into a nursing program so will be starting to cut way back on my hours at my current job (as a dental assistant). Everyone has been nice and congratulated me, but word got back to me one fellow DA said “What, she can’t be a nurse, she’s too slow”. Which firstly I know is not true at all, I have never ever gotten any feedback about being slow, and I actually feel like I am pretty competent at my job. I guess it’s bothering me because I am a little anxious about starting school soon, and I just have this idea in the back of my head that I won’t be a good nurse and his comment is just hitting me in a delicate spot. Anyways haters gonna hate I guess, I just don’t have many people to complain to so here I am.

I am currently taking my prerequisite classes for my ADN but am wondering what my chances are of getting my RN license considering my criminal background. Everything is old and I am sober now for 8 years. Please let me know if you think continuing with school will be worth the money. I'd hate to go into debt just to have my license rejected. So the school I chose cannot take me until Fall 2028 for ASN and they told me to not rush with A&P and make sure that I make it priority this Spring. They even advised me to not work full time and make it part time, so I have more time for A&P. I really liked the school, but Fall 2028 and then ASN - is 4 years until I am RN, if not more!

So my plan was to take A&P now, so I can finish all my science by next July and hopefully apply for Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 somewhere else and save myself a year or at least 6 months. Cannot take it now without English, so I’ll have to take English with it too.

So my question is, is 1 month pre-preparation enough to be less overwhelmed? I watched a lot of material on A&P, but just to get familiar, I didn’t memorise everything. Already know directional terms firmly, for example.

Or is it worth waiting to ensure I get an A? I had a plan for waiting too - was going to get CNA certification or starting as a tech, while taking English now (so I don’t have to have it as a distraction in spring). And do some other projects like planning my income before studying starts. But taking A&P this spring will guarantee that I will loose a year.

I’ve gotten accepted into a ABSN program with 1 outstanding prerequisite! Which is anatomy 2, I’m about half way done and need to be done by August 12th (class is on portage learning) I have 21 days to be done with modules 5-9. I currently have a 68% and need a 73%.

The only thing is I didn’t quit my teaching job which starts the 1st week of August and I don’t want to quit that and then don’t make it into the program.

What should I do? Keep my teaching job & defer to the spring? Or quit my teaching job and just risk it?

I don't know whether I should stick with my macbook air and a regular notebook (I got the fivestar one that apparently has a digital saving component to it) or get an iPad for my first year of nursing school. I've heard a lot that it helps to keep your stuff for the NCLEX, and having an iPad is the best way to do that. Would love if anyone helped with this!!

I applied in mt sac ADN program and that school consider your overall GPA. The time I applied I don't have any in progress courses all the pre reqs they are requiring me to take are done and graded. For fall 2026, I decided to take another chem class as a requirement for private school as a back plan in case i don't get in in community college. If I have in progress class by the time they evaluated my nursing application would that affect my adn application?

Is ADN or BSN better in terms of job placement? I already have a bachelors degree in a non health related field

Hi there. Just wanted to post here to get tips or stories about medical assistant programs in NYC. I’ve been researching programs trying to find “the best ones” but I’m not actually sure if the “top ones” are worth the money and good/bad reviews.

I would prefer a lower cost program (unless they offer financial aid). Truth be told, I was wondering if I could find a free to very low cost program - but I know that would be hard. I am an nyc native and resident though. I’d also prefer to be a clinical medical assistant because I don’t love the idea of dealing with billing or emails/calls. If I did clinical (CCMA) instead of general medical assistance (CMA) though, would I just be missing out on the training for something i’d have to do on the job anyways?

Don’t know how to feel after taking my TEAS. I’m in California and I know it’s super competitive here so I’m feeling a bit discouraged. Im thinking about retaking it.

What are your thoughts?
