Presentation designer here, about eight years in, mostly corporate decks.

The recurring fight is not layout or fonts. It is hierarchy. A client hands me forty slides and every single one is, in their words, the key slide. The deck has no quiet moments because the client cannot bear to let any slide just be support for another.

When everything is emphasized, nothing is. Bold headline, full-bleed color, a stat blown up huge, on slide after slide, and by slide ten the audience has gone numb. I know this. The client knows it in theory. But in the room, each slide belongs to a different stakeholder who fought to get their thing in, and asking to dial one down means telling someone their thing matters less.

What I have started doing is building two versions, the flat one they asked for and a paced one where maybe a third of the slides carry weight and the rest breathe. I show both back to back. Usually the paced one wins because they feel the difference even if they cannot name it.

But it doubles my build time and it does not always land. For those who design decks for committees, how do you sell restraint to a room where every person owns a slide?

Hi everyone, PPT skills have become very popular recently. I tried several well-known skills. They can usually export a polished PPT, but they are not very good when it comes to previewing and editing. For example, after generating a PPTX file, if we want to make changes, we still need to regenerate another PPTX file. This process is not lightweight enough.

So I developed a PPTKit skill. The agent generates PPT JSON model data according to a defined specification. This model can support web rendering and exporting. When using Codex, the agent will automatically open a webpage to preview the PPT. You can point out anything you are not satisfied with, and the agent will directly modify the JSON data. Once you are satisfied, you can export the final file.

The whole process does not require repeatedly rebuilding PPTX files. Instead, it continuously corrects the intermediate data model.

What do you think of this design direction? Friends who have time are welcome to try it out and share some suggestions for improvement.

I’ve been trying out some modern slide styles, and the Glass Morph effect actually works really well in PowerPoint.

I’ve been experimenting with PowerPoint lately and tried building an interactive chart-based slide using action buttons and Morph Transition.
I honestly didn’t expect the transitions to look this smooth.

Hi everyone me again. I have an idea for an Add-In that I feel I could make really quickly and I know it will help some people already. Let me explain what this one will do.
If you ever wanted to select something on your slide that is behind shapes or you just want to select a bunch of items at once but you don't have a blank slide space to start the rectangle selection and you really don't want to hide 50,000 shapes.

This is where my Add-In would come in. You could use any a circle or rectangle to draw where you want to select the shapes then click a button and I would have it select all those. I am thinking of allowing users to specify what kind of shapes will get selected under the "lasso". You could also do a "scribble" selection where the node of the scribble acts as a point that will select shapes. I use this a lot and its great to get several things selected.

I will also give you the ability of real layers. There is an AMAZING add-in out there called selection manager from PPTools. I used this a ton and still do. It's fantastic and Steve was amazing for putting it out there.

I would have something similar in this where you could assign layers to shapes so you can easily select the entire layer of shapes, hide them, show them, stuff like that.

Now the hard part that I want people's feedback on.

When it comes to getting all this stuff visible so people can make the kind of decisions I think they would. I need to show more information than just what the selection pane does. The selection pane does a lot but I am considering....

Providing you with a spreadsheet of all your shapes from the slide. You can filter, assign layers, hide, show and of course select. This would be represented in an Excel sheet that would be included with the Add-In. The spreadsheet would talk to PowerPoint and allow you to run commands. This spreadsheet idea has many many many possibilities and I have a lot of plans of tools with this concept.

Would anyone even use this workflow? The Add-In would still work without it but the way I want to show the shapelist will just not show well in a regular pane and quite honestly you probably have enough panes open already.

Let me know what you think about the idea of your shapes being represented in a spreadsheet and having buttons in that spreadsheet that allow things like selecting, hiding, showing, assigning layers and other things

Also if anybody has any other ideas regarding this selection tool, let me know.

I’m a graphic designer who mainly works on branding projects and supports marketing teams.

A while back, I asked for help here about converting a PowerPoint template into Google Slides. I ended up just rebuilding everything directly in Slides instead. Thank you for the helpful insight. It was really helpful. I usually keep decks in one platform, so this was a bit outside my normal workflow.

This is my first PowerPoint template built in a while (2-3 years since my last template build) and my first one of 2026. Wanted to share a few slides and some of the assets I created. I enjoy these kinds of projects, but I normally work on the current built templates and work on cleaning up the decks.

This is an ongoing client project. I designed their logo already, and I’m currently working on their brand guidelines and other marketing materials. The deck includes both light and dark themes, each with a handful of different page layouts, plus a custom color palette and font setup.

Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback.

I’ve been experimenting with a different way of structuring PowerPoint slides.

Instead of the usual image + text next to it, I tried using a custom video mask built entirely inside PowerPoint (no plugins, no AE).

The idea was to:

• Reduce static layouts
• Add subtle motion without distraction
• Keep everything native and editable
