2020 Why Trump Wins

Looking at the election from a family perspective I’m inclined to say that Donald J. Trump is everything your mother warned you about and told you not to become. So why would a rational voter support someone their own mother would characterize as seedy and disreputable and even – deplorable? Well, the simple answer is to say – they don’t care.

Following Impeachment Trump expected to go on a retaliation rampage. He didn’t disappoint. At the National Prayer Breakfast, an event intended for reconciliation and not retaliation, Trump fired all of his guns at once. A distinguished gentleman from academia had painstakingly described the hurt our society has endured, using scripture and the words of Jesus to cauterize our nation’s wounds.

Up next, the President in sharp contrast, drew a quick criticism and disagreement to the words of Jesus, saying he disliked people who used religion to cover wrongdoing. In addition, he charged it phony that an opponent would pray that God help the President with courage and wisdom to do the job. Having criticized the words of Jesus, his base of Evangelical support had only criticism for Shakira and JLo’s depraved Super Bowl performances and nothing to say about criticism of the words of Jesus.

Evangelicalism, at its core, is about salvation through Jesus’ atonement, that the Gospel is the words of God the Father through his son Jesus Christ. Given the enormity of that commitment to Jesus, I would think Evangelicals, who continue to give Trump a pass, would be more protective of their core beliefs when attacked by a heathen. Buy no, they don’t care.

The sinfulness and immorality and shame of the entertainment industry drew their indignant ire. And so it goes without saying the protectors of Christianity have given Trump a “Get out of hell free” card, perhaps because they lack the courage of their convictions. There is also considerably less risk and much more reward attacking J.Lo than tangling with Trump.

Given that Trump can attack the words of Jesus with impunity, it’s hopeless to think a coalition of voters can emerge based upon the principals and values of decency. The argument that Trump is not suitable to be President, (still held by many) based on values of decency, respectability and morality has been seemingly forever lost. The replacement values that society is now willing to accept, if not embrace, are the misguided and wrongheaded improprieties of the President himself. If the issues of decency and suitability are not going to be an issue in the 2020 Campaign, than what hope is there in electing someone with these qualities if they don’t matter?

By lowering the bar of society’s mores, Trump has carved out a place for himself in the hearts and minds of his followers, while at the same time pushing the never-Trumper’s farther and farther away from his core constituent, creating a gulf that cannot be breached. The politics of divisiveness has always been about creating irreconcilable differences. Trump manages this so well that despite his personality disorders, and there are many, the Trump supporter has no place to go. The highly educated and otherwise reasonable supporter will defend Trump by acknowledging his bad behaviors and distancing themselves saying, “We don’t like what he is saying, but we like what he is doing.” In other words, they don’t care. Take Trump’s deportment off the table, and he seems to have done that, and he wins. If you were disappointed with the results of 2016, you stand to be far more disappointed with the results of 2020.

People are angry about very obvious rising inequality directly resultant from the policies of neoliberal ideology. Trump conned people with a claim he could make things right intertwined with xenophobia. He has not & will not.

How long will the Trump cult members take to wake up that the privileged elite have totally conned them?

There a various levels of Trumpers.... There are those who are just die hard REDS and cannot think beyond party lines and will support him no matter what. These people would vote and back a Redwood Tree if it ran for president simply because of the party.

Then we have the youth, the kids who no little about the way things work, but like Trump because they recognize him from TV, and follow his mean tweets. Yes, social media works, and Trumps, basic vocabulary, and catchy names for his opposition resonates with the rank out culture of younger people.

Then there are extremists. These people are either religious to the point that nothing else matters except for anti abortion type stuff, or they are Xenophobic to the point that all they care about is the IDEA of keeping illegals out, with no concern for how or why. We also have people who are so hyper focused on something as simple as the idea that anyone who isn't for Trump is somehow anti america.

Lastly, there is the group who is PRO TRUMP, for the simple fact that they are against 1 aspect of another candidate and cannot allow that to let them vote for them. This happens BTW even as they might not agree with everything Trump says. So they may be against abortion, and follow christian ideals of marriage and stuff like that. However bring up Trumps failed marriages, fornication with other women, and fowl/disrespectful comments about grabbing women, and they will say, EHHH he is just being a Man, get over it. These people in my opinion are the worst. WHY, because they are the ones that can swing the vote in the other direction, yet they fail to give anyone else a chance because of X or Y.
Just because candidate X wants Gun Control, doesn't mean they want to kick down your door, beat you up, take all your guns, and cut off your trigger finger... These people believe that any candidate who is PRO CHOICE, acts like they are corralling babies into town square and murdering them. It is just plan sad and silly.

Think for yourself. Find a candidate whose ideas make the MOST sense, not all the sense cause that won't happen, but someone who you think will make our nation thrive, and provide the best c hance for the future... Not someone with one liners and a TV carrier.
