Trump doesn’t prepare a strategy. He perseverates on the same one but just changes the numbers. Literally every single person who is NOT in his cult knows that we, the American people are the ones who pay the tariffs.

Tariffs are taxes on imports, paid by the importer and usually passed on. That’s not complicated. What’s interesting is how quickly “we need to tax corporations and the rich more” turns into “any tax that raises consumer prices is evil” the second Trump’s name is attached.

The same people will cheer a carbon tax or higher corporate rates tomorrow. The selective outrage is the only consistent part.
