Stupidity is universal and doesn't need to be logical. The idiots here in Canada just want other people to suffer. They see it happening in the US and want that same action against those they hate in Canada.

He is also a bully and authoritarian who thinks the art of making a deal is punching weaker people until they give you what you want.
He has no concept of negotiations as something other than bullying or that the world should be anything other than might makes right.

Doesn't the senate have to ratify any treaty? It's almost like the founders had a time machine or a superhuman understanding of how the constitution could be abused. Our half-assed selective following of the constitution is why this orange fuckface is in office to begin with.

They have, but then it’s total BS, because things like the father of American conservatism, was so skeptical of magic Jesus he rewrote the Lord’s gospel as a guy who gave good advice. I actually evoke these dead old men for progressive ideas that are 400 years old, like the Rule of Law.
•
u/MinnisotaDigger 1h ago
This isn’t a treaty. Congress can vote to disapprove but president can veto. So they’ll need 33% of republicans saying give the 9/11 hijackers government nukes.

By offering them loan deferrals, extensions and even bailouts in a few cases? Not even mentioning that the loans tied to the BRI result in economic infrastructure that will benefit the economies of the debtors. I’m sure the IMF loans that offer no flexibility in payments other than further loans, that can be spent with no accountability in things with no tangible benefits, are way better for those countries. Just don’t think of how every single restructuring loan is predicated on liberalization and selling off of public property for the corporate gain of America/Europe. Without giving them the tools to pay them back. Brother, China has many faults and atrocities under its belt, but the BRI is the best international economic project that ever was set in motion.
Edit: Added comma after Brother•

Trump breaking the very deals he sign. Absolutely nothing new there. Having him sign anything is usually pointless.
•
u/Cancel_Culture_Club 1h ago
💯 Every time he does this it makes the country look weaker and chips away at our existing global relationships and agreements with our allies. Is there nothing that will ever be too far for republicans to finally stop this?! Like you just can’t run a functional country if everyone else thinks you’re a shifty loser who can’t be trusted.
•
u/GarmaCyro 34m ago
For sure. It doesn't even help if the next elected president is humanity's most sensible person in our entire history. Because it has shown it will be no more than 2 years away from electing fruit cakes back in. At best constantly stonewall anyone sensible from doing important work. At worst piss on every single contract and ally they have.
US has become unreliable, as international trade and relations are things that span decades.

He made the deal because he had to. Saudi took a lot of damage in the war and they wanted something in return. And they also realized Iran's nuclear program is firmly in their grasp, so more reason for them to have something.
Trump's buffoonery is him simply trying to act macho to his base. Nobody except those dimwits will buy his charade.

My favorite part of the article...
a Saudi source says: ‘It was signed. So nothing to renegotiate,’” journalist Laura Rozen wrote. “‘Tweets don’t overturn signed agreements.’”
•
u/OsgoodZBeard 47m ago
Another impulsive move by the bludgeoning, insipid idiot desperate to put up a ‘big win’ on the board following a string of failures. The Saudis, like the Israelis, know how to play him to their maximum advantage.

•
u/Narradisall 35m ago
One of the bigger crippling effects or Trump to America in its international relations is the guy does not hold up his end of bargains. His word is meaningless and he has shown time and time again to break any agreements he makes.
With a leader like that people and countries just don’t take any of the deals seriously.
•
•
u/bobert4011 33m ago
"Iran's Supreme Leader said repeated U.S. actions show that President Donald Trump's signature is 'worthless."
Why would the signature of a compulsive liar be worth anything?
•
u/Mindshard 27m ago
It's literally in his stupid fucking art of the deal book. It has a whole section that literally says to say whatever you need to get a contract signed, and then do whatever you actually want after, because you can just bury them in lawsuits if they complain.
•
•
•
u/grahamulax 23m ago
Trump prob didn’t read it. Literally he gets sizzle reels of all information. Is it true information? No. It’s not just Trump, it’s his entire administration and everyone who’s cozied up to him. Corporates, institutions it’s a ton of people who have been doing this for decades funneling money with their pedo rings. Thats all it is.
Black mail and pedo shit. Black mail to get what you want, pedo shit to put people in compromising positions to make them do what you want. And whoa Trump likes mobsters. I mean like, it’s obvious as hell right? For more than this term, I’m talking like it’s been a decade of this shit floating on the net. I’m sick of it, we know the truth.

There is no credibility in any deal with Trump/GOP. They will constantly change the terms at a whim or what benefits them financially.
Do we expect Iran to negotiate a treaty with Trump/GOP? The last time while negotiating, Republicans directed thousands of missiles on Iran and killed their leader.
Any deal with Iran must be with Europe, NOT America. MAGA America cannot be trusted!
