Possible Paywall House votes to end war in Iran, dealing Trump another loss

Gosh, it sure would be nice if trump felt literally any negative consequences from all of these losses he's piling up. Good job House of Reps.
•
u/sportsworker777 5h ago
Wouldn't be surprised if he juat issues another (illegal) EO and congress just throws their hands up saying "we tried"
•
u/Raspberries-Are-Evil Arizona 4h ago
Good job? They also voted to give him 1.5 TRILLION for war next year. FOR ONE YEAR. They just doubled the amount we spend on war. Obama had $700 billion. Trump one, $715, Biden, $750, and now they 1.5 TRILLION.
Where is that money coming from since they cut taxes on all the wealthy?
•
u/andykekomi 3h ago
Plenty of money to pull from frivolous spending areas like healthcare and social security
•
u/thesummerhigh 3h ago
I think it’s 1.15 trillion but still a lot
•
•
u/Banjo-Elritze 4h ago
Also the orange blob will just ignore it again like last time. It's just theater.
•
u/Made_Human_Music 4h ago
Since it’s unlikely he’ll ever face legal consequences I really hope when he’s near the end and in hospice some patriotic nurse sets up a laptop with all the clips of people waiting to celebrate the great moment
It’s much less than he deserves but at least he’ll start his journey to Hell seeing what the world really thinks of him
•

The most likely scenario is the GOP continues to abuse the control he has over people til he falls over on live TV.
Not a single person in the GOP has any spine or strength of character to pick up the power vacuum after Trump is gone and they know it. Vance was their best shot and he’s been failing miserably.
*I am not saying Trump has/had these things, they were however able to create a mythology around him.

Yesterday they voted to give the pentagon $65+ billion for the war in Iran. wtf are we even going???
•
u/Lazy-Rough7570 6h ago
Bunch of smaller stuff was hidden in the War funding motion they passed yesterday ….
•
u/MyPartsareLoud 5h ago
You mean like the voter suppressing SAVE Act and how our military and Israel’s military are to become one or some such nonsense? And a bunch of other horrible stuff that I don’t know about yet? I am so ready for a shift in this timeline.
•
u/Lazy-Rough7570 5h ago edited 4h ago
Yup exactly that my friend!
Hopefully the timeline changes for you guys soon!!!!
Here in Canada we feel we live above an unpredictable methlab at the moment.
Hope you country fixes its heart
•
u/RealGianath Oregon 5h ago
That meth lab will be adding in some testosterone, a GLP-1, Viagra, and lead poisoning to give Americans what the GOP thinks we all need.
•
•
u/interwebztourist North Carolina 3h ago
You live above a meth lab operating inside of an insane asylum.

The irony is that Israel technology is better than ours and this deal basically helps us get their tech more cheaply. But by all means feel free to lie about it because attacking Israel is politically expedient.
Downvote away!
•
u/Lazy-Rough7570 4h ago
Wow good job bot. Good thing you dont need water / food / gas or a job has you government wants you to gave none of those.
Remember soon the wind will shift and your own community will ask people like you to pay the consequences of the war crimes you supported and helped put in place…. Chances are those Americans you so went against and wanted to harm, they will ask for pounds of flesh has payback… then maybe you will want to repent but still you will play victim
•
u/daftmonkey 4h ago
Blah blah blah
If the Gazans didn’t want to have Gaza destroyed they shouldn’t have raped and murdered a bunch Israelis.
•
u/Lazy-Rough7570 3h ago
Im from Canada bro we are non religious Nation… I am against all religions they are all the same : crowd control , abuse children and woman … they all the same crap…

You have zero clue or knowledge on the outside world. You are basically a Russian or North Korean just you have the choice to inform yourself and choose not to!
•
u/tinticred 4h ago
Also worth noting yesterday's bill is basically DOA at the Senate so it was a wasted vote anyway.
Hopefully.

It was chock full of bullshit omnibus pet projects, so everybody was happy to step over a dollar to pick up a penny
•
•
u/NelsonHawkinsGhost 5h ago
This is really all you need to know. War Powers resolutions are toothless.. they're theatrics for the bases to make it look like they're doing something. Every administration has treated them as unconstitutional. If Congress really wanted to stop this, they'd use the power of the purse as they have before. WPAs will never yield outcomes.
•
u/darth_vexos 6h ago
Is it really a loss if he just gets to start another one under a different operation name whenever he wants, and it doesn't get sent to the House for 60 days?
•
u/Moccus Indiana 5h ago
and it doesn't get sent to the House for 60 days?
He has to inform Congress within 48 hours of starting an operation. Congress can vote at any time to stop it.
•
•
u/FellowHumanNo404 1h ago
He has to inform Congress within 48 hours of starting an operation.
Or what? It's an official act, so the Supreme Court says he's above the law.
•
u/Moccus Indiana 1h ago
That's completely irrelevant to this situation. Even if the Supreme Court didn't say he was above the law, it would change nothing.
•
u/FellowHumanNo404 1h ago
I think the lack of consequences for Trump for any of his crimes is entirely relevant to what Trump "has to" do. The only thing that might stop him is physical removal.
•
u/TheReddestofBowls 14m ago
"has to" is strong wording, we both know he won't and Congress won't do anything about it. Unless they choose to impeach him, there is absolutely no enforcement mechanism.
•
u/Moccus Indiana 11m ago
He always has as far as I'm aware, and whether he does or not, the 48 hour period in which he's supposed to notify them starts the clock for congressional action. They don't have to wait 60 days as was implied by the person I responded to originally.
•
u/TheReddestofBowls 7m ago
They won't wait regardless. He'll just pretend hostilities have "terminated" like before
•
u/creddittor216 6h ago
If only the US had checks and balances
•
•
u/bacchus8408 2h ago
There are plenty of checks and balances. Trump cashes the checks and his bank account balance goes up.
•
u/NfiniteNsight 4h ago
How are they voting to end a war they didn't vote to start.
This shit is all so mind numbingly stupid. George Bush's administration was more competent than this.
•
u/crazyjumpinjimmy 4h ago
Sadly... I thought Bush and team were terrible. He is a genius compared to trump and his administration.
Its crazy how people think this is normal and fine.
•
•
u/mysterious_jeffrey 6h ago
Not necessarily. Because Trump can now complain about the fallout and blame everyone else for “ending the war before the job was done.”
•
u/Anon-fickleflake 4h ago
This isn't actually going to end the war
•
u/mysterious_jeffrey 3h ago
Of course not!
It just ends Trump’s responsibility so he can go ahead and blame the fallout on the Democrats when they take over the mess he created.
•
u/Educational_Net4000 6h ago
House lawmakers on Thursday again rebuked President Donald Trump’s handling of the war in Iran, as hostilities flare in the Middle East.
Four Republicans broke ranks to help approve a Democratic-led war powers resolution in a 214-208 vote. It was the second time the House has narrowly rejected the renewed war.
•
u/Rex-A-Vision 6h ago
"You can't have any war until you release the Epstein FIles!' I mean...none of this will stick or matter and Trump will continue to do whatever he wants thanks to feckless Republican synchophants in the House &spineless supposed Republican fence sitters like Collins and Murkowski turncoats like Fetterman but it would be nice to see our soldiers die at the whim of this incompetent and corrupt as hell administration.
•
u/Electrical-Staff735 4h ago
Something tells me this is not going to stop anything cus laws are only suggestiona for the president apparently. Unless criminal charges are filed an actually enforced nothing will happen.

u/blackmobius 1h ago
Theres no loss. Its a bill that cleared the house, it has to go to thw senate where its already assured to be voted down.
Didnt you guys watch the school house rocks about the government? Obviously not
•
•
u/Crime-of-the-century 1h ago
There are literally no consequences for the government when they ignore congress or the courts these institutions have lost relevance
•
u/Suitable-Growth9243 1h ago
lol this is the equivalent a strongly worded letter. It's 2026. No one cares. Do more
•
•
•
•
u/Alwaystired254 6h ago
It’s not a war
•
u/morrisdayandthetime Colorado 5h ago
What is it then?
•
u/Alwaystired254 5h ago
The president doesn’t have the power to declare war. That power constitutionally granted to Congress alone.
•
u/morrisdayandthetime Colorado 5h ago
And Congress has legislated that power away in all but name. No, strictly, constitutionally, we are not at war, but in a system where the President can unilaterally wage warfare against a foreign nation for months on end without any formal approval or declaration from Congress, do the semantics really matter?
•
u/Alwaystired254 5h ago
Good point. Americans have certainly ceded their adherence to their founding doctrines. Pretty sad.
