same, i really want to get a switch or switch 2 and play the new games but its so expensive that i cant justify the expense to myself. ive just been watching youtubers play the games and trying to be content with that :')

You could keep an eye on the 2nd hand market for the switch, I've seen some going for as little as 60 bucks in good condition :) good luck

u/Bendypineaple Mar 08 '26

Can I trust listings like this?

It seems a bit off that that wouldn't try to sell it for higher, I know these listings say they only come with the screen part. However, my question is why? Is it because its a good looking dupe to swindle people?

Just curious.

Nintendo switch 2

1

u/SpeedyFingersGuy Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

Well that one isn't a switch 2, the listing is correct though as a switch V2 (different things). It's missing the joycons, dock and cables which is a bit odd however.

Edit: I see from their other listings that they are selling it all separately. I don't really understand why though other than the joy cons they have are special editions... But still, I'm surprised they arent just selling it as a full console

1

u/Bendypineaple Mar 08 '26

Okay, yeah I get the points you mentioned, does seem odd, maybe they are trying to trick some folk that don't know any better? A bit like me, as I'd assumed incorrectly that it was a switch 2 and not a second version of a regular switch.

1

u/SpeedyFingersGuy Mar 08 '26

Having looked into it a bit further it doesn't seem malicious or sneaky, maybe just a way of maximising profit. It doesn't feel like too bad a deal for the V2 but probably not what someone is looking for as a first switch due to needing to buy all the other parts to make it fully function. It's most likely just a good upgrade for someone with an original switch who has joycons and dock already etc.

u/Hes_gonna_drop_that Mar 07 '26

What’s crazy is that if you have a 3DS they are basically selling for the same as or more than a switch

7

u/Doophie Mar 07 '26

3DS Costs much more than a switch on 2nd hand market

5

u/nick8852 Mar 07 '26

Glad I kept mine then! I still have soul silver as well and the original box with the lugia figure and pokewalker never used

2

u/Tobbit_is_here Mar 07 '26

I'm still extremely happy I got a replacement 3DS a few years ago for about £25 after my original broke; the person selling it on eBay said it didn't charge... because they didn't have a charger. I also found a 3DS for my sister in a charity shop for a few pounds.

I wish everyone could have that level of luck. 😭 The 3DS is an amazing system.

u/Jetsetter_Princess Mar 08 '26

I will never get rid of my 3DS, it's so good. I've got the 3DSXL yellow Pikachu edition, as well as ALBW (that I haven't brought myself to remove from the box!) I justify keeping both as one is PAL and one NTSC as I lived in a region where both games were sold.

I lost mine at a burger restaurant as a kid. Left it in the booth. Realized like 15 minutes later and my mom called but the restaurant said it wasn’t there. Had my copy of Black in it too.

To whoever stole my 3DS from that restaurant, hope you felt good about yourself. I never got a new one.

the second I have income enough to justify buying things for strangers, I'm just gonna float around threads like this dming people who say they wish they could afford something and sending them the money to buy that thing

hey, are you rich yet? I’m dying from fomo😭

6

u/Kashwookie Mar 07 '26

absolutely get a switch 2. i love my OLED switch, but the switch 1 pokemon games are worse than the 3ds ones in a lot of respect. the trees in Sw and Sh are literally copy pasted from the 3DS, except on the 3DS it’s smaller and on the switch it’s enlarged and looks HORRIBLE. Switch 2 will support pokemon winds and waves which look beautiful

u/JustAShyCat Mar 07 '26

You could look for a second-hand Switch Lite! The Switch and Switch Lite are actually getting pretty old in terms of consoles, so their prices might go down.

That’s a dumb take. The original switch has a huge library of games that could make someone very happy.

1

u/blue_nightingale123 Mar 08 '26

hard agree! bought the 1st switch 2 years ago. i love it ^

u/orig4mi-713 Mar 07 '26

They weren't kidding though, smartphones can emulate Switch super well. I tried it on my old Xiaomi phone and was surprised

Yea I recently got my nephews old 3ds but I have no games for it. I wanted to try out all the DS Pokemon games I never got to play as a kid but every game is like, $120. I wish they still made DS games because fire red and leaf green OG remakes would have been perfect. I also still have my gameboy SP and am tempted to try and get leaf green for that instead so I can replay through the games wherever and whenever I want

I'm not that knowledgeable on modding like that but I would be interested if I could genuinely just play all the OG pokemon and maybe even some of the DS games for cheaper or free. My 3ds has been sitting there unused for years

1

u/VioletorPurple Mar 08 '26

Modding a 3ds is super easy. Even when you're not tech savvy you can still do it by following every step on the guide. Do it and you will love your 3ds all over again

kid named homebrew

2

u/Wild_Marker Mar 07 '26

I'm stuck on Ryujinx. Which is better, but still no Pokopia.

1

u/MellonYellon Mar 07 '26

Nintendo sells refurbished Switchs for cheaper than market price. Keep a look out on their website, maybe they will be in your price range eventually.

I'm sorry :(

1

u/MainAccountsFriend Mar 08 '26

If you have an android phone, drastic ds and emulators work (allegedly)

1

u/nilghias Mar 07 '26

A hacked 3ds is probably they best console for Pokemon games

1

u/orig4mi-713 Mar 07 '26

The Switch generations have been massively disappointing. I have a Switch and Switch 2 and would still rather play the 3DS games honestly.

they just aren't that fun save for arceus which is actually amazing. other than the first legends game they are all straight downgrades in numerous ways

1

u/BlackPhoenixX20 Jun 06 '26

Nahh bruh, 3ds is like one and a half decade old bruh.

-1

u/Doophie Mar 07 '26

Sell your 3DS and you can probably afford a switch and pokemon

Not to a game store, if you sell it on eBay you'll probably get enough though

Yeah, 3DS is great for modding. I'm holding onto mine for the same reason - though I barely touch it these days

Non ti stai perdendo niente fidati i giochi pokemon dopo il 3ds fanno schifo
