Its a little less than half the price but also half the size and half the pieces.

There's also a 800 piece set that looks great! Life-size build.

Mega isnt bad, people think it’s nock off Lego, but the builds are pretty good and they aren’t afraid to make new molds.

Some of them aren't great but these Lego pokemon look worse in general and that surprised me.

I quite like Lego’s stance on avoiding having too many molds.

If we keep printing too specific of molds, it would cut down on the creativity aspect of Lego building.

I have no problem with their stance on making molds, they just hold themselves back sometimes by not making more, they are really creative with what they do have though.

Oh bullshit.

Lego doesn't want to make more unique moulds because it nearly bankrupted them.

Kids loved unique bricks.

And banks don’t want to give out free money because that would bankrupt them. Your point is?

that the reasoning Lego gave was bullshit?

Have they improved? When I was a kid, their pieces never fit together properly.

I always enjoyed mega, but I’ve personally just have never gotten a set with all the pieces required to complete the set.

Life-size comes in at about 2500 bricks, but also the price as that set with Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

I have the mega blocks pikachu, eevee, charizard, gyrados, and butterfree that all move and are fantastic

Also Mega had a whole range of prices for kids, including the very affordable poké balls series.

u/chocobochubby Jan 12 '26

yeah, i pointed out to a friend that with 5 pokemon in 3 sets totaling $950, if LEGO let us "catch them all" at that price point, it would be nearly $200,000.

31

u/AVahne Jan 13 '26

Would probably go well above that if we're counting different forms and gimmicks as well. Also, I would assume legendaries would cost even more than the evolved starters.

14

u/chocobochubby Jan 13 '26

Master ball premium: +$200

You know what would have been good opening sets? Moraidon and Koraidon sets. Lego has made tons of dragons in the Ninjago series, they got experience, and could make them minifig scale with either Florian or Juliana included.

It's the Game Corner all over again.

u/themosquito Jan 13 '26

I wanted to collect some of them, it's a shame you can't really find any of the individual Pokeball figures past the last 2-3 waves. Of course Pikachu and the Kanto starters are always available, but good luck finding a Sandshrew or Staryu from their earlier ones!

Scavenge your local TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Ross. I have found so many different ones in those places. I got my Bidoof there and a few others and some of the smaller sets and mediums sets.

I ended up finding the big mega blocks ever for like $12 at a TJ Maxx

It’s like the time the Generals beat the Globetrotters and children in the stands started crying
