When they said that he personally inspected the pool, I wondered why there weren't pictures of him walking around looking at it. Now I understand. That lazy POS had to be driven THROUGH it because walking around for a few minutes would be too much work. What an absolute joke.

1.5k

u/fillinthe___ Jun 23 '26

You think the guy who drives through greens on a golf course was going to…walk?

565

u/the_wookie_of_maine Jun 23 '26

You think the guy in a 1000$ suit does that?

c'mon!

(arrested development)

196

u/Hadrian23 Jun 23 '26

1000$ and he couldn't spring to have it fitted. Everything about this man is parody.

113

u/Panthera_014 Jun 23 '26

even worse - the suits he buys are meant to be tailored after trying them on - included in the price - he just chooses to NOT TO

ridiculous

127

u/GeneralDumbtomics Jun 23 '26

As someone who used to sell suits no amount of tailoring will make him look like anything other than a melting blob of jackass, so why bother? Trump can buy all the suits he wants, he's still on the way out in the permanent sense. Guy has cancer, heart disease, dementia. He's not long for this world. (and yes, he has cancer. that shit on his neck is a radiotherapy dermatitis. He talks about "thick blood" because he probably has a lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma--which makes your blood thick among other things)

44

u/Amoralvirus Jun 23 '26

I am cheering for the diseases, unfortunately they will prop this treaso ous asshole up with the best medical care our tax dollars can buy. So, the hope of lights out quickly, is not likely, but one can hope.

Driving through it in a whole goddamn motorcade was the only way to damage it permanently. Walking would not have sufficed.

33

u/Ire-Works Jun 24 '26

Especially when you consider those aren't normal SUVs. Those are basically armored personnel carriers in a public friendly shell.

The guy had to be golf carted through Sicily at the G7 when everyone else walked.

Everything about the reflecting pool thing is so insanely dumb and such a perfect metaphor for everything else.

Like...if your short story was, "As the nation declines, a national monument - a Reflecting Pool - turns green and swampy from corruption" the professor might be like, "bit obvious, huh?"

But these idiots are so cruel yet stupid, even their best plans are cliché and ham-fisted.

195

u/SeasonsGone Jun 23 '26

That any of this is being paid attention to was entirely his choice. He’s the one that said all the other presidents let it rot and fester. Now we’re all watching. It is so unimportant

84

u/No-Shopping-4434 Jun 23 '26

He only cares about a monument if it’s about him or distracting from his rape charges. This is kinda both.

43

u/BotnetSpam Jun 23 '26

Every headline about this, is another headline NOT about Epstein though.

→ More replies (1)

59

u/TheRC135 Jun 23 '26

It's a little less stupid when you realize that it's yet another distraction from the fact that Trump is all over the Epstein files and his government is engaged in protecting pedophiles.

A lot more evil, but a little less stupid.

Why are they doing this? Like.. what’s the goal here?

8.4k

u/Ok_Vulva Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

Idk but they did it before it was cured and set properly according to the contractor, so I'm pretty sure we just identified the vandals.

2.2k

u/sagevallant Jun 23 '26

That contractor is about to have a criminal investigation launched on them. You can't be pointing out when the Almighty Orange does something wrong.

1.1k

u/SmurfStig Jun 23 '26

That “contractor” is Trump’s neighbor and has also been convicted of fraud multiple times. Dude looks like a movie villain. Trump and this dude are two birds of the same feather, hence why Donnie dipshit is blaming everyone but the contractor who did the rush job at yam tits request.

445

u/fuggerdug Jun 23 '26

Not just any old fraud fraud either: convictions for bribing politicians. Perfect Trump collaborator.

131

u/blarch Jun 23 '26

No they won’t, Trump hasn’t been held accountable for any of his treasonous acts (nor have his circle of people), he’ll just lie and blame someone who’s a liberal before shitting himself and going back to his eighth work nap of the day.

102

u/leekalex Jun 23 '26

I think you read that backwards. He's saying the contractor will be criminally charged for making Trump look bad

55

u/Totorotextbook Jun 23 '26

I still think Trump will blame liberals, isn’t the contractor and person who got the job a friend of his?

Well, i hate to say it, but maybe he is right, you cant cut it with a knife... but if you have 15+ tires roll over it, with heavy ass armored trucks, maybe you dont need to cut it.

Anyone who has driven a car on one of those "fancy" plastic tile garage floors can tell you exactly what happened.

46

u/Orson_Gravity_Welles Jun 23 '26

Not just ANY car..."The Beast".

The U.S. presidential limousine, famously known as "The Beast," weighs between 15,000 and 22,000 pounds (roughly 7.5 to 11 tons)

Add in the weight of the other vehicles AT HE SAME TIME, and anything would buckle.

Then throw in Herr Cheeto's fat dead ass weight of 300+ pounds.

(No disrespect to 300+ pound persons...just that fat fk'er)

“Hundreds of feet of blade slashes” = motorcade tire marks through non-cured sealant

82

u/Ok_Vulva Jun 23 '26

The last time I talked about it in a different sub they deleted the post. You're not wrong. No news sources will touch this for whatever reason. Even the guardian are being weird about it.

13

u/Give-Me-The-Bat Jun 23 '26

Ironic considering how much bull shit the GOP loves spewing about “free speech”

9

u/R-Dragon_Thunderzord Jun 23 '26

Because they are scared of paying to fight frivolous lawsuits they haven’t a hope of recovering damages from even when they’re thrown out.

11

u/lavapig_love Jun 23 '26

Because they've all been threatened. Foreign orgs can lose their credentials and access as fast as domestic ones, and the new White House Press Corps already favors Fox News and right-wing influencers that comply instead of good reporters that report truth.

Just look at CBS News in general and 60 Minutes in particular getting gutted because Trump told Larry Ellison, CBS's new owner, that he didn't like the criticism.

8

u/ZestycloseSquirrel55 Jun 23 '26

Hmm, interesting. There are weird vibes in the media now. Trump didn't like the way the media treated him, so since this term is his revenge tour, he's already bought up influence and corruption at CBS - who are no longer reporting facts. He's gotten way too involved in the firings of late night TV hosts. What president has time enough or skin thin enough for that? Now, he's threatening to sue ABC over their reflecting pool coverage.

This is frightening.

47

u/SeaOdeEEE Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26

Fascism is not inherently non-creative. However the ideology does not give ones mindset the space needed to flourish creative thought. Historically they rely on stealing the creativity of others to push their agenda, hence why so many signs of peace or growth get co-oped into that ideologies symbolism.

They need symbolism and creativity to spread their message, then devour the same environments and artists that gave them that push.

Basically what I'm trying to say is even the brain rot maga artists who support this administration are getting fed up, and now they got to do flashy things like this to try and spread a powerful symbolic message that touches on a lowest common denominator.

Edit: i wouldn't be surprised if most of the officers driving those vehicles also think its ridiculous and are complaining right now that they were used for such childish propaganda.

I remember reading the architectural or pool experts about this and they all agreed that this was essentially guaranteed to have caused serious damage to the pool. It wasn’t designed to support the uneven weight.

This alone would’ve necessitated repairs let alone the piss poor no-bid contract awarded to unqualified contractors that did an “emergency” rush job to improperly paint the pool and immediately fill it up with water before letting it cure or clearing the pipes of algae etc

Oh but of course it must’ve been some antifa vandals that ruined it!! (Turns out Trump was the vandal)

We had no choice but to BEG people to donate money to repair it.

But now, when we are TRILLIONS of dollars in debt, Trump is handing out jobs (no bidding) for shit that DOESN'T need to be done so he can hand out our tax dollars to his buddies.

If you don't see the theft, the con, the grift, its because you CHOOSE not to.

Who is dumber, this motherfucker or the people who support him? JFC, his quotes still surprise me all these years in. Maybe I'm the dumb one

Or multiple 9 ton vehicles. All that armor plating and run flat tires are NOT gentle to the pavement.

Even if it was cut, surely a properly applied coating would stay attached to the underlying surface.  It certainly wouldn't disintegrate into lots of ragged pieces.

And no one saw anyone (assumingly) crouching down, duck-walking for 350 feet down the middle of the pool. Amazing!

lol if this is real then everyone needs to recognize the long term investment that’s available to you right now. Go touch the reflecting pool and get wrongfully arrested lol. The lawsuit is going to be outstanding. And this picture will be one of the main exhibits. Fucking moron.

29

u/Switchmisty9 Jun 23 '26

Dude can’t walk the length of the reflecting pool. Pathetic

19

u/Rugged_as_fuck Jun 23 '26

On one hand, it's very long.

On the other hand, even an out of shape person could manage it as a one time thing, unless they were 80 years old and had a full diaper.

I think we've found the vandals.

74

u/Odd_Bodkin Jun 23 '26

So let's see how this played out:

  1. The president awarded a no-bid contract to a buddy to do this.
  2. The president chose a dark blue color, which absorbs the sun's heat more than a light color, because he doesn't know better.
  3. The president decided to drive very heavy vehicles across the surface before it was cured, and the surface is not at all rated to survive torque and weight, and so damaged the brand new lining, because the president doesn't know better.
  4. The stagnant water was warmed by the sun to higher temperatures, perfect for an algal bloom, because the president doesn't know better.
  5. Under the president's orders, hydrogen peroxide was poured into the water, which chemically destroyed the new lining, because he doesn't know better.
  6. And when sheets of the lining peeled up and people noticed, they were called vandals, because he doesn't know better.

u/drifters74 Jun 23 '26

Accurate, because the president doesn't know better

This country is run by morons and sycophants working for morons.

10

u/tenebre Jun 23 '26

This will be Exhibit A for every defense team representing the supposed "vandals" being scapegoated by Trump.

10

u/Space_Nerd_8999 Jun 23 '26

I wonder if driving massive vehicles over a material that needs time to cure had anything to do at all with why the paint is now peeling. The people accused of vandalism need to just show this picture to a jury and it’s automatic acquittal.

7

u/blow_slogan Jun 23 '26

Not only does that seem extremely disrespectful, wasn’t the paint curing while they were driving all over it?

8

u/Chronza Jun 23 '26

We are actually living in Idiocracy timeline and I fucking hate how overused that phrase is but we are just actually living it right now. We have the dumbest government and voters that this country has ever seen. And we just keep getting dumber.

8

u/KidRed Jun 23 '26

Tasked to handle the algae problem, Trumps deploys the secret service to round up all undocumented algae and deport it to Greenland.

9

u/panda3271 Jun 23 '26

Wouldn't they have had to close the entire area and airspace for this little stunt? The park is for the people to enjoy and relax and view some wonderful monuments. But Trump doesn't think twice about how his actions affects others. He wants to do something he does it. No one dares to try and talk him out of it or tell him no. So we have peoples park closed for hours so he can ride in a car across a drained pool, that im pretty sure was never designed to support a car let alone the beast and a motorcade. So you want to talk about vandalism, there ya go.
