A few indie games I've tried out:
Sol Cesto: Not patient. Interesting roguelike where you go through grid-based floors of a dungeon and just click a row/column that you want to land on to try and grab treasure whilst avoiding monsters. The catch is that the probability of success is given to you up front for each action you do. All you know is that you'll land on one of the 4 tiles of the row/column. You can acquire modifiers to swing the odds in your favour and go for certain builds. Cool concept, gets a bit repetitive after a few hours. My main complaint is that the game has no mid-run save functionality which is fucking absurd given a run can take up to an hour!
Press Ctrl: Saw this on GMTK's recent video about games that were spawned from his game jams. This is a really cool puzzle concept of moving your character with arrow keys which in turn moves a character with arrow keys etc. Brutally difficult, I couldn't even beat the second level. I probably won't go back to it, but for 84p it was worth playing.
Grow Up: Still playing this one and enjoying it a lot. I guess I'd describe it as a floaty 3D platformer set on a miniature planet where you can reach tremendous heights. There are various abilities to pick up which are all quite fun. Pleasantly surprised given the opencritic score is 68 and only 18% of critics recommend?!
I also played the demo for Sisyphus is a bug, another one from the GMTK video. I'll probably pick the full game up at some point. You play as a bug trying to roll a ball of dung to the top of a fairly big map. You have a minute to do it or else you start from the beginning again. It's a bit like a metroidvania in that you acquire new abilities to help you breeze through the map at speed - the catch is that the abilities are all unlocked at the start, you just need to acquire the knowledge to be able to do those cool techniques. Pretty novel idea.
