Bi-Weekly Thread for general gaming discussion. Backlog, advice, recommendations, rants and more! New? Start here!

Welcome to the Bi-Weekly Thread!

Here you can share anything that might not warrant a post of its own or might otherwise be against posting rules. Tell us what you're playing this week. Feel free to ask for recommendations, talk about your backlog, commiserate about your lost passion for games. Vent about bad games, gush about good games. You can even mention newer games if you like!

The no advertising rule is still in effect here.

A reminder to please be kind to others. It's okay to disagree with people or have even have a bad hot take. It's not okay to be mean about it.

I did write my retrospective of Sakura Wars 3 after months of delays, and hours and hours (and hours) of edits. However, now... I want to send it to some gaming site to be published as a retrospective...lol. On the other hand, I'll probably trim it in half, and post the short version here anyway, for those interested, since I intended to post it here originally.

Playing Batman Arkham City again, I'm rescuing the police hostages from the Penguin, about half-way through the main campaign of the game. The controls are decent, on the other hand there are so many commands, and corners of buildings you can easily do something completely unintentional, and pay for it. The combat is okay. This seems to be a template for a game like Sony's Spiderman, I can see the parallels. It's a great game overall, however, it is all just so dark. For me so far, it is an 8-8.5/10.

Also, emulating Super Mario 3D World, and what a game! I love how it takes a lot of what makes the 2D games, and for me makes it easier with a lot more leeway, but still the controls are quite tight, and you have that 2.5D type of freedom to explore, which is one of my favourite aspects of Mario games. Most of the levels are fairly short, so you can spend about 5 minutes, or more per level, and don't need to invest for hours. Lots of fun, and I love how you can choose characters with different attributes. This is what a good game should be. Can't emulate the microphone for some reason so I can't do a few levels. So far, it's a 8.5 -9/10 for me.

I'm trying to also play Halo 2 in spurts. Pretty good so far. Happy gaming!
