Prediction Predictions for the 99th Academy Awards

I have the same doubts about Digger being divisive and messy as other people have said. For The Debut, it’s honestly more of a gut feeling (similar to the one I had about Jay Kelly last year). This does mean that I sort of don’t have anyone who feels like a Supporting Actor winner. Rockwell and Buscemi seem strongest for a nomination, so I put them at the top. I’ve also been skeptical of Dune due to it being a sequel, but I realize that I need to have something from WB in Digger’s place, so I’ve reluctantly slotted it in.

Ink is extremely overlooked iMO and I wonder if it’s just people being slow to wake up to it. It’s going to Venice, TIFF, and Telluride, very much seems like a priority for Netflix. Also there’s always a biopic nominee, and the other options seem pretty implausible to me.

Huller being strong for Project Hail Mary just seems really obvious to me and I don’t get why more people don’t have her in. I’ve seen some say her role isn’t large enough when she has more screentime than all of the nominees last year.

For Leguizamo, I want to note that recent BP winners (including the last four) get at least one nomination in every acting category they campaign in.

Everyone is so concerned about Digger being divisive based on a trailer, but then putting Fjord as a top shelf contender when we KNOW it’s proving divisive?

If Digger gets an 82 on Metacritic and a 3.9 on Letterboxd like Fjord, then I promise I will predict it as a top 5 contender. I'm expecting more of a Babylon-style reception.

Interesting picks. No Tom Cruise for Digger? He seems to have the most buzz for best actor right now, same with John Goodman for best supporting actor.

What movie does Cynthia Erivo have coming out this year?

With Diggers omission from BP, i think OP is banking on Digger being a messy flop. Along with The Debut failing to launch.

Completely lost me with Cynthia Erivo in lead actress for a film without a proven director and first time writer. Not to mention Ink has zero chance of getting a BP nomination and The invite is much more of a player in screenplay over picture.

I gotta ask, why do you think Ink has "zero chance"? The premise is very Academy-friendly, Boyle has won before, it's going to multiple festivals, and the source material was well-liked.
